Hello again! Here's everything I worked on in August and September, including updates to Link Cleaner, Spacebar, and the Cupertino theme.

Link Cleaner

I rolled out a few more bug fixes for Link Cleaner in September. Timestamps should now be retained from shortened YouTube links, Webtoons links are now fully supported, and I did some general code cleanup. Walmart product link shortening is also now a checkbox in the settings page that is off by default, instead of being a built-in function that is always enabled.

I'm also starting to experiment with another update to the Link Cleaner home page. I know, I know, I just did a redesign. The page is still visually busy, though, and the URL text field is still difficult to read on small screens. Adding more padding around the text field and multi-line wrapping should fix both those issues.

I'm still figuring out the best design for the text field across different screen sizes, especially when the page switches to the results view with all the share/post buttons visible.

Cupertino

In August, I released an update for my 'Cupertino' Firefox theme, based on the look and feel of macOS Tahoe 26. I already wrote a post about that, so go read that if you missed it!

Spacebar

I rolled out a new logo for my blog and newsletter in August, which is now simply called "Spacebar" instead of "The Spacebar." My goal was making the text more readable, and to create a single-letter "S" version to use as an icon on social media.

Besides that, I published two articles on Spacebar in August and September:

We hate AI because it's everything we hate

I hacked Microsoft Edge to make my ideal Chromium web browser

You can subscribe to The Spacebar as an email newsletter, or follow new posts through the RSS feed, the Mastodon account, or Bluesky.

Techathon

A lot of my spare time in August and September went towards organizing Techathon 2025, the latest charity livestream by people in the tech community. The stream took place on September 27, 2025, and we raised $549.20 for Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF).

You may have noticed the video embed at the top of Spacebar and Link Cleaner on that day. Sorry for the annoyance, but it was for a good cause! Now that the event is done, I'll have more time for other projects.
