Hey! An ASOIAF question. (Spoiler warning for Memory of Sorrow and Thorn) In Memory of Sorrow and Thorn which was a big inspiration for GRRM, there is a race of ancient immortal elf-like people who were on the continent before the humans. They separated into two groups. One called Sithi who lived in the centre of the continent next to the first humans who arrived there. And the second one called Norns which are “icy”, pale skinned and live far in the frozen north. The Sithi get decimated in the ancient past by the invasion of another group of humans from across the ocean who bring with themselves iron. Then in the books themselves, the Norn, disrupt the climate (it gets colder and more winter-like) and attack the humans. They are lead by the prince of the Sithi who turned himself into a demonic monster due to magic rituals (which curiously involved special trees and dark magic) he performed trying to stop the human invasion ages ago. Later in the books some of the surviving members of the Sithi help humans stop him. Sorry for such a long explanation, but my question is this. Do you think that what we see both in GRRM’s inspiration and in the show allows us to be almost certain that The white walkers were created/summoned by the Children of the Forest or are closely connected to them and the old gods/weirwoods in some other way?

Hello ASX! Excited about the Livestream! Based on the trailers, how do you think they are changing Rhaenyra's involvement in the war? In the book people used it against her that she was sitting in Dragonstone a lot. What's your prediction? Which major battles/events in the show will she participate? Thanks as always!

Rachel Wheatman

The only vids of yours I’ve not watched multiple times are the dune ones. I’ve been halfway through the first book for the past 2 years and I’m trying to avoid spoilers on an over 50 year old story. I can’t even watch the newest film yet!!!! Wish me luck

Rachel Wheatman

HOTD - I think it’s implied Alicent heard what she wanted to hear with viserys naming ‘aegon’ heir as he died, but do you think we’ll ever get an ‘and it was all a big misunderstanding’ moment between her & rhaenyra in the show? As in, a way for Alicent to think ‘shit, I was totally wrong about this’ and she’s faced with proof as to what Viserys was actually talking about? Looking forward to the stream :)

Rachel Wheatman

& where could that potential ‘proof’ possibly come from?

Hey Alt, excited for the stream, late where i am so will have to watch the VOD later. Quick non-book or movie question for you: After the huge Jon video I was wondering how big the ASX team is. Is it just you working through these monster vids or do you have help with editing, researching, etc?

Drew Malcolm

When Melisandre references “the Other” do you see that as a singular character? Or is this “the others”? Thanks for being awesome!

Alt Shift X

I think "the Other" is the Great Other. It sounds like the Great Other is a distinct, singular entity, a "god" in control of the white walkers -- maybe a spirit of the old gods, or the spirit of the Night's King or Bloodstone Emperor, that Jon and Daenerys and Bran must defeat... But I guess the lines might be blurry between the Great Other and the Others... maybe their consciousnesses are interconnected, like the Old Gods hivemind... It's all very mysterious, and I'm not sure we'll ever get clear answers.

John King

Dude, I fricken love your videos… legitimately I’m in the top 1% on Spotify for that scrooge AltShwiftX — damn him — glad to finally have some content for someone more respectable 😭

Alt Shift X

Ahah thank you John, I forgive you for listening to that scoundrel Alt Schwift X

Harry

Hey Shifty, would you consider announcing these livestreams on twitter as well? I am guessing you deliberately don't do it for a reason but still mate even that epitome of unprofessionalism Schwift gives a heads up there before he starts yammering about random stuff on youtube

Benedikt

Hey ASX, does the stream include spoilers (and if so spoiler warnings) for HOTD season 2?

Alt Shift X

I wouldn't announce them on Twitter, since they're only available for Patrons.. But if you want a notification, you could get one from the Patron app or via email -- does that work for you?

Alt Shift X

There are some mild spoilers in there for HOTD S2. No huge spoilers. I think I give warnings in the stream.
