Bran the Builder

I rather enjoyed it myself. And I have to confess to finally giving in and checking the leaked stuff on YouTube in the last couple of days after avoiding it - and even then, I still enjoyed it. Loved: Jon and Drogon, Tyrion finally telling Jaime how he felt about what went down w/ Tywin, Gendry's preparedness to get the fuck on, Arya and LF playing the game of Cat and Slower, Less Experienced Cat, and, of course, The Fellowship of the People Would Would Likely Kill Each Other Without a Common Enemy. Good times! (Obviously this is the show, so my opinions are well salted with acceptance of the non-logic of many things).

Alexander Leimbeck

I was disappointed by this episode, to be honest with you! It just felt like a bunch of cock reading and that's getting old...

Bran the Builder

If the Livestream is at 8am, that's not far off, so if you're here, you've probably seen the episode - is my logic/defense.

Kelly Theobald

*SPOILERS* Not the most thrilling episode, but I enjoyed it! There were a lot of great scenes, like Jon/Drogon, all of Davos's scenes (he is on fire this season), and the Tyrion/Varys conversation. Their struggle with accepting Dany's decisions is really interesting. I LOVE that Gendry is back!! The war hammer is really cool, and he's really bringing the energy into the show. Rhaegar mention!! Awesome, though I can't believe Sam didn't pick up on that. The only part I didn't like was Dickon. So mad about that, it was pointless to kill him off! Also, it feels weird that Littlefinger is pulling one off on Arya. I know he's a master schemer, but I thought Arya would be trained to catch that kind of thing.

Bran the Builder

Arya is trained but LF has been a spy for decades. I do think the Stark sisters will end up outsmarting him in the end though and uniting more. But come on, twice-cast in two seasons Dickon? Throw-away character! ;)

AKD

I really quite enjoyed it. takes a while to get the themes but can see the mirroring between Cersei/Tyrion/Jaimie being funny with eachother with Arya/Sansa/Jon being funny with eachother and Dany attempting to be funny and perhaps intimidate Jon while her post Tarly frying bloodlust is up kinda went in a different direction to what she expected when Drogon started being friendly with Jon. Was good to see some Winterfell Courtly intrigue that felt like Season 1 Kings Landing and "Who tried to kill Bran" vibe working its way in even now

Kelly Theobald

Oops lol...haha yeah I guess I've accepted the non-logical things too. It feels weird to have "let's go to Kings Landing" and then immediately be there, not traveling for three episodes. Oh well :)

Kelly Theobald

Also I think the livestream is on Tuesday, not tomorrow

AKD

Yeah LF is playing his game with them both but Bran can just swoop into the situation and completely out him, similar to how the Red Priestesses seem to be getting the better of that other schemer Varys

AKD

Yeah that scene with the Gold Cloaks was funnily enough one of my favourite moments, great to see someone going to such pains to avoid unnecassary killing

Kelly Theobald

I loved the Gold Cloaks scene!! Probably my favorite this episode. It was just really funny and entertaining. :) Also, yeah I'm sure the Stark siblings will beat LF in the end, but it still felt weird to me

Bran the Builder

"Thought you might still be rowing." 😂🤣😂 That's the kind of fan service I'll take every time!

Paul Barry

After the best episode of the season last week, I thought this was the weakest. How long can they tease a Winterfell conflict? I just don't buy it. I also didn't buy Jaime and Bronn getting away so easily - so they swam underwater away from the battle ground? Enjoyed seeing Gendry back and Davos's lines, and the mention of the annulment but it really felt like they were shoving stuff in without much logic.

Calin boiii

I'm just gonna just straight into the Gilly scene...probably every Patron on here was super excited when she said what she said...but now it's got me thinking...did the annulment happen before or after Dany's birth???

Lee Jordan

Just wanted to say thanks so much dude, I absolutely love GoT with such a passion but before your videos I found it hard to remember names or follow the complicated story, now I chat to my friends and I'm the most knowledgeable person in the room, I love the way you make your videos and I'm proud to be one of your patrons so you continue doing what you do. One small idea, would you consider doing a small overview of the teaser, I know it's small but it's something to keep us going till your full episode guide is out 😁 just a though ☺️

2026-09-17 12:00 Two questions for you guys if you have time, i'm sure you will cover these in some form: 1. Who do you think will survive the capture a white walker and bring it back to as proof (CAWWBBAP ... how catchy) operation? 2. Do you think drogon recognized jon as having targaryen blood? I've been relistening to podcasts, both yours, raidos westeroes and some other vloggers and the connection between targaryens and dragons seems to have something that we are still missing. Like something that ties them together and allowed for the original taming and bonding? I saw a lot of vloggers commenting on how Jon looked afraid in this scene and I didn't' see fear. I saw a man being brave and opening his mind. Initial fear of course, cause jon isn't completely a dumb dumb, but true bravery of not only not backing down but touching Drogon stood out. I think Drogon could smell him and recognize him having maybe a targaryen "scent," or drogon could smell his blood? #crackpot possibly but i think something is there. sorry for the novel of questions ;) Thanks for all you do!

Loved the episode. It wasn't the most action packed episode, and any episode that has to follow "The Spoils of War" was in trouble anyway but it was a pivotal, piece-moving episode that was highly important. Most importantly, Gilly reading about the annulment. That might have been so small a lot of people missed it or waved it off but for long-time lovers of the show, it made us all sit up a little straighter and take notice. This news, when it's uncovered, will not only rock the worlds of those fighting for the throne and fighting the war, but it is going to rock the worlds of pretty much everyone in Westeros. I'm really thinking Gilly's face should be the thumbprint of this breakdown. It was huge. Also, the return of Gendry (and his war hammer; can you say, it's hammer time?), Cersei's pregnancy, and our Magnificent Seven going north beyond the wall to try to capture a wight (dumb idea; why don't they just execute a prisoner and wait for him to turn?), Jaime straight up admitting to Cersei they cannot win this war. A lot happened in this episode and I wish those action lovers would give it more credit.

Bran the Builder

“Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.” 1) Most of them - probably one or two of the Brotherhood will kick it, otherwise the rest see season 8, I think. 2) Drogon certainly sensed something about Jon - it was partially his bravery and partially his blood, I would assume.

Rikke Holmberg

My bet is on Gendry - for the thumbnail :)

Rikke Holmberg

I really liked it. Davos is always enjoyable, and the scene with the guards had me smirking. Seeing Gendry was of course nice, even if it is mostly fan service. Jon meeting Drogon was chilling - the music in that scene was just incredible. Stealthy Arya and sneaky Littlefinger was fun, and the interaction between Arya and Sansa was quite interesting. Birds view of the dead army was amazing. And the Tyrion/Jaime scene was touching. Gilly's scene of course made me sit up straight for a moment - I wonder if he packed that book, or if we will rely on Bran for that? (Bronn pulling Jaime up half a mile from where he fell, without anyone following them, was just plain stupid, but I guess plot armour is lighter than regular armour).

G.R. Penn

True, I do love that Gendry. His comeback to the show was something I've been anticipating since he rowed away. However, I really think Gilly is a better choice, just simply because what she uttered was an absolute game-changer and will send ripples across Westeros. It's likely that Gendry will have another shot at an amazing scene from an upcoming episode and be worthy of a thumbnail. Gilly, on the other hand, this is probably the pinnacle of everything she's ever going to do. No hate on Gendry though!

Rikke Holmberg

Brandon is not Alt Shift X, Mallory. He's a nice guy, but not Alt Shift X ;-)

Lena

Hola! My question is: have I missed something about Jorah - why is Dany all of the sudden so warm and chummy towards the poor lad? She's always been about keeping her distance from him and now she got all physical even if he's of course friendzoned for life. It wouldn't hurt to have some mid-ground or consistency, or at least a bit of context for this switch, for example a scene in which it's understood that she's in a vulnerable situation after her arrival in Westeros and needs to cling onto her oldest friends... something, whatever, cause the way her character is being written this season is already random enough. But again, maybe I missed something here. The second is more of an observation: is bonding together over the inevitable murder of Littlefinger the only way scriptwriters get bring on some sisterly love between Sansa and Arya? What a boring and useless plot complication.

Rikke Holmberg

You don't know what you have, until you loose it? Only when she thought she had lost him did she realise how much he meant to her? He's the only person in the world who knows her whole story. Knows where she came from. I think it made sense to have her be so emotional on seeing him again,

G.R. Penn

I thought the same thing about Jaime's armor and then I read an article with Nikolaj and he said Jaime was wearing mostly leather armor, so I guess it wasn't as heavy as his regular armor. Not trying to explain it away, just trying to give the show the benefit of the doubt it so badly needs. It's obvious (and a little sad) the producers of the show are rushing through this season.

G.R. Penn

Also, I don't mind the little shout out to Preston but please please please Shift, don't let your recap videos become anything like his. He's snarky and sarcastic and honestly, kind of a dick. I wonder to myself when he started hating the show because he must on some level hate the show a little bit. Maybe he's trying to be funny but his recap videos are just hateful. Please don't let yours be like his. I prefer the way yours are fair, non-judgmental and just better than his. Thx.

Emily Crocker

Love it when Schwift shines through with a tangent! 2 more weeks of this madness and then hopefully you can get some rest. Take care of yourself. Great points as always!

Rikke Holmberg

The European time frame seems to bring the Schwift out in the Shift. Loved it! And I am really happy with the way you say - yeah, this is all a bit shit, convoluted plans, fan service, gaping plot holes, strange choices all over - but I actually still enjoy it! Because that is exactly the way I feel about GoT :)

Lorayne Thompson

Cersei will transition to a full witch. That's why Jamie will kill her in S8.

Kelly Theobald

Also, last time she saw Jorah, she probably thought he was going to die, since greyscale is so deadly and has no cure. So seeing him again without the disease was probably overwhelming for her

Rikke Holmberg

Poor Alt. Now he probably won't get any sleep this week either - he'll continue straight into episode 6.

Alt Shift X

I always try to be fair and balanced – but there's also a place for snark sometimes (:
