Became a patreon to watch this specific video, any hope we can get the video to start from the beginning? It’s started at 47 mins in for me

Alt Shift X

YouTube is still processing the video – the first half of the stream will be available once it's done Thanks for joining!

Richard A. McGilvray, Jr.

I don't think I hated it. But I didn't enjoy it. Guess I'm glad it's over. But why would they call him Bran the Broken to his face?

Rammy

lol. I thought was pretty harsh but he has no feelings anymore remember!

Rammy

Thank you so much! Keep doing what you’re doing mate. Hope you pick up off on these new series hbo is coming out with and hope to hear from you about the got prequels in the future!

Tyler Mormont

Did Jon come back only to kill the mad queen that wouldn't exist if jon never came back?

Krista Zaragoza

Nooooo your stream doesn’t start from the beginning what happened?????!

Alt Shift X

YouTube is still processing the stream! The whole thing will be available once it's done

Luke

The video is 2 hours exactly for me - doesn't seem to start at the beginning

Krista Zaragoza

Oh okay, that puts me at ease! 😅Thank you, I really appreciate your work! Looking forward to more videos about the books as well 🤞🏻

Is it possible to make a one-off donation to Alt Shift X? I'd rather not join a Tier. I want to thank you for all that you have done in the past years, I'd like to show my appreciation with one well-deserved sum. You have been my go-to for many years and everything you've done for this series has made it so much better, all your theories and well-structured videos are amazing. Ever thought of writing somewhat of a 'fan-fiction'? A last book to the GOT series the way you think it should have ended. I would definitely pay to read that E-Book or however you deem necessary to publish. Regardless, great work man. You've made GOT so much more enjoyable to read and watch. Thank you.

Kellan

Well, it's been a wild ride! I'm glad that we have lots of Alt Shift X to look forward to now!

2026-09-17 12:00 The Dothraki was essentially just a tool, apparently. The last of the named Dothraki characters, Qhono, died in episode 3, even though he barely said anything. And then the Dothraki was whiped out, then they showed up again, and now what? Will they just chill out in the harbour of KL? I feel like there is a lot of unexplaned details about the Dothraki that D&D just didn't want to bother with.

It seems to me that the lords didn't want to upset the Unsullied about Jon. So sending him to Castle Black was just a strategy to make leave him free in the Real North...

Matthew Paddon

Is this the place where I can escape the hate train? Is it? Well we have come to it at last! We are at the end. And Im somewhat happy about the way it ended. Like Ive said before, the writing has dipped to a degree and the pacing has increased. More episodes or a few more seasons could have very well fixed this and I would have preferred this. BUT in spite of that, everything from the actors to the music to the directing was phenomenal! The fact that everyone is acting like this is the worst television in the history of man-kind is unbelievable! Lets just be thankful we we're given this show, afterall there was a time when this seemed extremely unlikely. Alt Shift X I want to end by saying that I am very grateful for everything you have done! You sir have done so much in shaping the experience of this show! Cheers!

After sleeping on it, I think Bran makes more sense. If you look at most of the really "Bad" decisions GoT, they were made by an Autocratic ruler (ie Dany burning Kingslanding or Cersi blowing up the Sept). Now a council will run Westros in Bran name. Thus the worst impulses of one person are not allowed to surface and manifest in deeds. Also, the issue of Primogeniture; directly lead to the all the wars and death of the last 8 seasons. Bran will not have an heir, thus allowing the practice of Electing the "King" to continue and be established in Westros. This practice could eventually lead to similar with the the Great Lord, but either way no one ruler will have absolute power.

Kaitlyn

I have a more mixed opinion on the ending. I liked the ideas behind the ending more than the execution. I am satisfied with the Iron Throne being destroyed & no one sitting on it, & instead Westeros' ruler is elected by a council.

Jenny Zina Tavares

I think one of the worst thing done to the show was to introduce story lines which ended up being irrelevant and were allowed to die. The same with characters like Kinvara, Quaithe, Old Nan, Daario, etc. This endgame may be similar to the books' endgame but probably the whole TWOW will keep Dany in Essos. The the whole White Walker storyline...if they truly wanted to make this about the Game of Thrones, well, they should have must omitted it. I felt D & D decided to have their laugh at us by including that ridiculous small council meeting. So many comments but I'll stop.

Schiffty5

Im sure ASX is sick of GOT, especially after this season, but I wouldnt be mad about some reflection videos. Like how many Kiincara, and Quaiithe and Old Nan's prophecies came to truth or not or maybe thier fates following us seeing the characters on the show.

Schiffty5

You can join for the month, it will charge, and then cancel.

James Knight

Do you think that it's Howland Reed next to Sam in the voting scene?

Drake Evans

In my head, they knew the Night's Watch was done for, it was just a hoop to jump through to make the unsullied leave without killing Jon. Jon would be most happy North of the wall. He always was. He got the Frodo ending he deserved.

Drake Evans

I also think he will definitely be "king" of the wildlings. He was their savior. Those are the people he lead out of hell and into protection. He treated them like no one else would.

Mykhailo Granik

Is Tyrion's arc is all about promoting Westworld? He is in the loop of being the Hand of the King/Queen and suffers all the time.

Nicky lawley

I think that Jon chose self happiness over duty in joining the wildlings It’s like for once instead of sacrificing himself for the good of the realm he finally chose himself over duty.

Ellen Terry

I couldnt watch live, so this is coming a bit late BUT I'm pretty sure Jon/Drogon just played out the Azor Ahai/Lightbringer prophecy. Assuming the Long Night could be expanded to mean more than just Winter associated with the Night King, and actually meant as the disquiet in Westeros since Aegon the Conqueror. We can see Jon attempting to end the Long Night by defeating three great threats until finally achieving peace (Night King, Cersei, and Dany). These three attempts mirror the three attempts at tempering Lightbringer, just like with Lightbringer the first two fail and the third is successful. The first attempt is the Night King which as the embodiment of ice and winter mirrors Azor Ahai tempering Lightbringer in water. This attempt fails to achieve peace, and just like Lightbringer broke we have our first dragon fatality (Viserion). Next is Cersei, the lion. Again this attempt fails to achieve peace, and just like Lightbringer shattered we have another dragon die in the process (Rhaegal). Finally, by stabbing the woman he loves in the heart, Jon killing Dany directly mirrors that of Nissa Nissa, through this we see Lightbringer successfully tempered as Drogon representative of a flaming sword destroys the Iron Throne - this action symbolizes the end of the monarchial reign over the Long Night and makes way for a new form of rule and a dream for Spring.

Ellen Terry

I agree that thematically it makes sense for GRRM to intend for his utopian ruler in a dream for Spring to be someone who isn't doomed to repeat history because he had literally learned every lesson it could possibly have to teach. ASoIAF is teaming with history repeating itself. So if you believe this is one of the major themes, Bran fits the bill as a leader who would help end this cycle! However the show didn't exactly do this eloquently.

Larysa Jaworski

I agree - and WTF are they going to do now? There's not really anywhere on Westeros for a wandering band of nomadic horse-lords. I think the best thing for them (if they want to retain their lifestyle) is to go back to Essos...

Larysa Jaworski

I agree. I hung out on r/freefolk for a while, but it's just become a shitfest having a go at everything. There are quite a few good things on there, but so much hate! I liked the ending overall, however, I wish they would have made a 10-episode final season (ASX- is it true HBO offered them 10 episodes, but they only wanted 6?).

Larysa Jaworski

But - DID he? I don't think it was expressly said whether he's leaving or just accompanying the Free Folk north? I wish we knew, it makes such a difference to Jon's ending... I mean, if Jon was wearing a grey cloak or something we could have definitively said 'yeah, he's left to go with the Free Folk', but he's still wearing black... I'm so confused...

Carina Masterman

Yeah, and then all the Unsullied immediately left to, like, stand guard on the beaches of Naath for the rest of their lives, I guess? Why would the lords not just have Jon do whatever he wants after the Unsullied leave? I guess taking the Black again lets him avoid the crown(s), so, yeah, maybe he is happier that way.

Kelly Theobald

😑😑😑 All I can say is you’ve been such an amazing guide throughout this whole show. And your livestreams were great group therapy! I truly appreciate everything you do. You are the best 😄

Kenny Arnold

At the end, you mentioned doing one more live stream next Sunday, what are your thoughts on making that a patron only stream? I'm selfish.

Alt Shift X

It's a similar paradox with the dragons -- the only purpose of the dragons was to beat the white walkers, who only broke the Wall because of the dragons

Alt Shift X

Yeah, some kinda final wrap-up with just Patrons would be fun.. I'll think about it

Ellen Terry

Not that it offers any more clarity, but Mance Rader continued to wear his black cloak in the book! There is still hope!

Bungo

Alt, you have made these last 2 seasons so much better for me and your videos are of incredibly high quality I can’t wait to see what you do next. I have complete faith that you will continue to be successful without game of thrones :)

Taargus Taargus

Can't wait for the possible Alt Schwift X rant video. I hope it happens but I understand if you decide not to

Louvie Haller

No real last words from Dany - I didnt feel as emotional with her death without saying anything. :/

Alt Shift X

Thanks so much Bungo! Looking forward to what comes next 🙂

Kyle Sinclair

Are you releasing an episode 6 explained video? love your stuff

Alt Shift X

Yup, the Episode 6 Explained video is coming in about a week 🙂
