Thank you for this! I really really enjoyed them over this past season. And thank you for devoting so much time to doing these every week for seven weeks! The Frasier and Niles bit is a reference to this 90s-2000s sitcom 'Frasier' where they have these kind of fancy-lad, snobby brothers (Frasier and Niles). It was a spinoff of the show 80s-90s sitcom 'Cheers'. :)

Larysa Jaworski

OMG I love Frasier! He and Niles were absolutely hilarious, as was their Dad... :)

Natasha Ivy

Totally! And Lilith! How I loved her...!

Rikke Holmberg

Thank you! These livestreams are the highlight of my mondays.

Rikke Holmberg

I can't believe Shift doesn't know Frasier!

there are parallels between Sandor and Arya, and Jaime and Jon. Sandor was consumed by vengeance and died in violence where as Arya didn't and Jaime failed to win the battle between love and duty where as Jon chose duty over his love for Dani.

Random thought of the day and I’m sorry if this isn’t relevant but… I was reading a book on the history of St Petersburgh and this paragraph describing the siege during WWII immediately made me draw parallels to the descriptions of the Long Night: “Soon the city began to take on the visage of a Hellish arctic landscape. The nights lasted forever, their black stillness only broken by the howl of the winds and the fires that burned freely as the fire brigades had ceased to function. The ninth circle of this icy hell was undoubtedly the infamous Haymarket. Here in this traditional center of despair and depravity (...) ruled the fat and oily rose-cheeked princes of the Black Market. Those thieves and rogues preyed upon the defenseless populace unhindered by a non-existent police force. What Leningraders feared the most was that these dark lords of the underworld maintained their health not through bread but by the consumption of human flesh. The Haymarket was the only place in the city to obtain meat. Few asked where it came from, especially since animals were nowhere to be found. Rumours of cannibalism abounded. People disappeared regularly and on the streets, parents drew their children closer. Corpses were found missing limbs. Human heads were found in the streets. It seemed as if the Bronze Horseman [the symbol of the city] had given way to four new riders, the sound of whose hooves signaled the Apocalypse.” The dark, the cold, the death (especially evil humans killing other humans to eat them - makes me think of wights killing and biting the living humans) and the length (the siege lasted almost three years) and above all, the inability of humans to protect each other due to being divided… The four horsemen of the apocalypse were depicted in the show and dragons have been compared to nuclear bombs before. Just thought I’d share another bit from real life that might have served as an inspiration for the story :)

Please make a video on the theory that details Drogon taking Dany to Volantis (specifically to see Kinvara). The more I look into this, the more evidence there is.. PLEASE!

Alt Shift X

We'll mention it. I think it's more likely that Drogon is headed to Valyria..

DeadXDove

Thank you for everything! I think I would be most pleased about video from DARK because I'm from Germany. It would be interesting to know what you think about it.

Hey, ASX, hope things are swell. What are your feelings about Kingkiller Chronicles (in general, and as a candidate for future story vids)?

Alt Shift X

Haven't read it yet! Maybe in future. But for the moment, it makes sense to focus on the series currently being adapted for TV - Wheel of Time, Witcher, Watchmen, His Dark Materials, Lord of the Rings, Dune

Ah, well, two quick followups then: 1. the author of the series, Patrick Rothfuss, was heavily influenced by GRRM (incl. aesthetically—see overlapping fandom for beard comparisons) and, like GRRM, struggles to see projects to deadline (we’ve been waiting on his third/final novel of the series since 2011, sound familiar?). 2. His books are actually being adapted for TV and film as we speak! Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the developers, as there’s a good bit of music in the series. Plus he’s a total Rothfuss fangirl. Worth being put on a future shortlist, I’d wager! Thanks for considering :-)
