Have to say... after watching this episode i went back to the scene where Ollys parents get murdered... and yeah i completely forgot how horrific that scene was. Kinda understandable now why he was so pissed of at Jon, gave him saying nothing at the gallows a whole new meaning.

Gjergji Evangjeli

Is there indication that Ned started the rumors about how he triumphantly beat Arthur Dayne or is that what people said about him? I don't really remember seeing that conflict when I read the book (Ned mentions in one of his chapters that if it weren't for Howland he would have been dead).

Alt Shift X

Yeah in the books, there's that one passage where Bran remembers Ned mentioning Dayne, but Bran doesn't seem to be under the impression that Ned defeated Dayne. In the show, it sounds different – Bran has apparently heard the story of Ned defeating Dayne "a thousand times". So to me it sounds as though, in the show, Ned must have at least failed to correct the false story, even if he didn't start the rumours himself. Maybe that's an unfair assumption though, I probably should have qualified it more in the video.

Alt Shift X

Yeah it's fun to hate on Olly but imho you've gotta feel sorry for the kid

Gjergji Evangjeli

Thanks, I don't think there's anything wrong in the video, I was just wondering if that was a divergence or if my mind was pooping out...

Elizabeth Frum

Yessssss!!! I can't wait to get home and watch!!!!!

Alt Shift X

Sorry mate! Lotta consonants going on there

Dcxalius

Haha, no worries. You wouldn't believe how often it gets butchered, on an unrelated note, if the presumed hypebowl doesn't happen who do you think it will be on the sparrows side?

Alt Shift X

If not the Hound, then Lancel I guess? Or maybe secretly-unburned Loras?

Dcxalius

Thanks, I hadn't really thought of Loras, but I guess that would fit in quite well. Do you have any guess on who will be the winner of the individual match-ups?

Casimirrx

Wow! Great vid! I would think it will have to be the Hound who fights. Lancel is unable to do so in the books and the show (Sansa's rape notwithstanding) seems to follow them for the most part? On another note isnt 75k views and 9k likes in less than 10 hours sort of a big deal? :)

Casimirrx

PS.... When the season is over, it would be great to see an update video on what you think on what the final outcome will be using what we know from the recently completed series and the books. I know you have done something similar in the past... perhaps the John Snow video. 'I think' you may have pointed out that Martin is not as predictable as the typical 'good vs evil' stereotype goes.

Paul Barry

Great vid, as always. I really look forward to these. We get the quick reactions the day after the episode, and the interesting ones mid-week. Makes the wait for the next episode go faster. Just on Bran, I don't think the killing of Arthur Dayne was dishonourable in the slightest. Was Jon dishonourable when he killed the 'fookin' legend' at Craster's? Was Pod dishonourable when he saved Tyrion? Was Sam dishonourable when he killed the White Walker? Gimme a break. No way it would've been Ned telling him the story 'a thousand times'. Not Ned's style, even in the show. I guess, as you say, they're just setting up that not everything you hear as legends is right. Also, Bran has a touch of Sansa in his beliefs - honour and knights and all things nice.

AltShiftLikesMen

To be honest, I always thought that Jon killing Olly was the most fucked up thing he has ever done. His resurrection has probably made him this way. Also, I love your videos Alt. They are very informative and great to watch for the big fans. The editing and everything is just perfect. Really

Wouter van Straalen

AltShiftX, did you have any advantage on writing the script for the explanation video of the third episode, since the details of the episode were leaked in advance by the Frikidoctor on /r/Freefolk? Either way, great work with the vids thus far. I think you're doing a great job with not spoiling too much of the story of the future episodes, like the ToJ.

Georgia K

Many thanks for yet anotehr excellent analysis of the episode. No need to feel so pressured to get it out, I enjoy ruminating before I get your definitive take. I love the humour that is sneaking through. I did think that one comment about whether Jon was really in there, and then he cracked a joke, proof of change was a bit cheap and knowing. You obvioulsy played the episode a few times. At the tower there are a few cries - did it sound like a woman or a baby?

Sarah Cleary

Thrilled I found your videos, they're so entertaining and you really have a fantastic voice. I'm more than happy to pledge, the videos are worth it for the enjoyment I get out of them, thanks very much :)

Casimirrx

Well said. I wish I would have thought of all that. :)

Alt Shift X

Cheers! Yeah the response to this vid has been great, not quite as huge as the Episode 1 video though

Alt Shift X

Yeah I'll defs be doing some speculation on the ending, particularly for the show (:

Alt Shift X

Yeah, I regret not having been more critical about that in the video – I agree, Ned killing Dayne like that isn't necessarily dishonourable. And as you say, the scene is perhaps more about Bran being disillusioned, kinda like Sansa. Cheers!

Alt Shift X

Haha nice username. Yeah maybe Jon's resurrection has made him more brutal and unforgiving.. though in the execution scene Jon clearly was struggling with the killing of Olly.. A fucked-up situation no matter what he does.

Alt Shift X

I've been keeping an eye on those leaks, yeah. Any head start on the script is helpful. And cheers, I'm trying to strike the right balance with the spoilers, think it's going well so far (:

Alt Shift X

Thanks Georgia! Pretty sure those cries are just Lyanna.. but man, it's going to be crazy seeing baby Jon in a couple eps..
