with all these accurate predictions who needs spoilers?

ArcadianBard

To be fair, the only option was to beat him pretty

leviathan_13

40:40 trademark Alicia's pause when she conjures her prediction into reality XD.

Leon Helms

I fully disagree with her thing about Skypiea, as it is still one of my top arcs. However I do enjoy the reactions to this episode. I'm so glad she's reacting again.

leviathan_13

Also, I hope that Alicia won't ever feel like dropping One Piece ever again. Whether someone liked Skypiea or not is subjective, but the "pacing issue" of it (i.e. the survival game) was only in part an issue with the actual plot, most of it was an anime's problem. And anime Skypiea still adapted like 2 chapters on average. Modern One Piece anime sagas adapt 1 chapter per episode and sometimes even only HALF of a chapter. I personally dropped the anime and stuck with the manga for that reason, so I hope that would not ruin Alicia's experience. The silver lining is that Skypiea felt dragged out because BOTH the plot and the anime adaptation dragged it out. Hopefully, even if the anime will drag its feet even more in the future, the plot will still carry on the enjoyment.

Silver Blade

I'm just saying - with as many characters as Oda has drawn in 260 episodes... and only one looks like a zombie? that's pretty good, cuz he is still keeping them varied

wakalord

I'm surprised that she hasn't noticed that choppers voice is off yet.

JHow

Yeah, I have to call bs on your statement. Saying people only enjoy Skypiea because of nostalgia is complete bs and extremely disrespectful to the preferences of other people. To me, one piece, or really any story, is about two things: the world building and the characters. I'm the type of person who in a video game talks to every NPC, does every single side quest and uncovers every single corner of the map to learn every piece of the game I can, and, when it comes to the shows I consume, I read every supplementary book, listen to every audio drama and watch every movie I can. You can tell me the pacing in Skypiea is shit as much as you want, but I honestly couldn't agree less if I wanted to. To me what you call a waste of time and a slog to get through, is merely just more world building and an opportunity to learn more about the world and story I love. If that's not your thing, fine. To each their own. But accusing others of lying because they don't share your personal preferences... Well, nothing new there, I suppose.

ColdButCozy

i really want those black shorts.

Mullewap

I just wanne say that as a manga reader who has never watched the anime before your reactions, i can 100% understand ur opinions about Skypia in the anime. But having read the manga i fcking love Skypia (beside the ball priest) that was also shit in the manga :D), other than that manga just has the 1000x times better pacing for every arc but escpecially Skypia.

Alopex The Wanderer

So Franky's centaur form is absolutely a sex thing right? He straddled that dude with his ass sitting in the lap and his junk right up in the face.

Hynkka

Personally, I didn't find anything wrong with Skypiea, but then again I'm laughably easily entertained. With that said, re-watching it with you and multiple breakdowns on YouTube about it have opened my eyes to it's flaws. Hearing about them still hurts like twisting a knife in a wound, especially when it's as honest as your words, but I can see what people are talking about.

Jack Queen

Skypiea was an important arc, but not an enjoyable one for me either. This arc is what one piece is about. The character development and deep dive, the story telling, the stakes of not succeeding all with it's sense of humour is why one piece is the best for me.

Franky being the definition of, "I know it's goofy, but let him cook"

Ebofa

I sincerely believe, from the deepest parts of my heart, that Lucci ordered the ramen for lunch, not knowing how it was made.

Reina

Skypiea was where I gave up on the anime and switched to the manga, I was just so tired of the slow pace, how nothing seemed to happen, OF LUFFY BEING TRAPPED IN THAT DAMN SNAKE. Honestly I started watching your reactions and when I saw how infrequent they became once you got to Skypiea, I thought for sure that arc was gonna claim another, glad you were able to push through!

ChaosSepher

I would never say Skypia is my one of my favorites but I still largely enjoy it quite a bit. I respect that it was not highly rated in your book Alicia, which is certainly an opinion shared by many. I just don't think you should disrespect those who do genuinely personally like it.

ChaosSepher

Do love how this storyarc recemented your love for the series. This remains one of my all time favorite saga's of the series too and am very happy to be on this ride with ya.

BakaSama

I swear I watched Skypiea back when I first got into One Piece, but I remembered almost none of it except for Enel when watching your reaction. I just finished Dressrosa which is an even longer arc and also suffers from having to be dragged out, but I feel like with it there was just enough in each episode to keep me entertained. Skypiea just felt like something you had to endure and at times suffer through to get to the good parts.

Beelz

I actually will never forgive Toei for doing what they did to Skypiea. Worst part is that it won't be the last time they kill an arc like that

BigKez0

Skypia is an important arc because it sprinkles a lot of subtle lore and things that might be called back on later on, zoro developing his flying slashes, the introduction of merry's spirit and so on. One piece does this a lot btw, characters and references made 100's of episodes ago become relevant or slowly build up the world its lore and characters. Its really amazing tbh. But yeah it was a bit of a slog.

Void

I'm a manga reader, I don't watch the anime but I watch your reactions and I only half agree about Skypiea. When I started reading (a few months ago) I only ever seen people say skip Skypiea but once I read it, it was a damn good arc. Yeah, there were parts that felt way too long or too boring but overall it was a good arc. The anime always has a pacing issue from what I can see which can also contribute to the feeling that Skypiea isn't good.

Gurth-Quake

I litteraly dropped one piece 3 times at skypiea on the same exact episode. Each time, except the last, I restarted from the beginning. Wa5ching with you is my third time watching past skypiea.

Icy

Skypiea is an amazing arc but the anime did extend it a bit to much, sometimes it happens to let the manga get more ahead, like in recent years it's done that a fair amount.

nick bunston

As someone who has watched skypiea 20ish times i like the lore and the terror that is enaru

F. Carasind

As soon as Oda centers an arc around more heavy themes the anime usually sucks. Thanks to watching anime and manga reactions/reviews I know enough first time readers that have Skypiea as one of their absolute favourite arcs– but I don't think I have ever heard this from a pure viewer. So I sincerely hope that Wit reaches Skypiea and Long Ring Long Island with their adaptation. Until then the only hope for Skypiea are the fan edits and perhaps the live action.

Leonheart009

Sogeking with robin “it should have been me not him “

TurtleKungFu

You're absolutely right about people dropping One Piece during Skypia. It's reputation is so bad that some people recommend skipping it entirely, which is a horrible decision. No canon content should ever be skipped for any series, especially One Piece.

E. H.

Nah, we emphatically disagree on Skypiea and that is okay. I love Skypiea because, for me, One Piece is a manga first and a supplemental anime second. Reading Skypiea, for me, was a joyous adventure. At that specific moment in real world time, the manga story of One Piece was about fifty chapters ahead. I think this made Skypiea a big deal when it comes to seeing One Piece brought to life with animation settings. It was the first time this whole "supplemental anime" concept clicked with me; the first time non-canon details helped me to better understand canon ones. This perspective is not unique to me, yet it's definitely a product of circumstance. I happened to be introduced to One Piece via an art book, picked up the manga from there and the Skypiea arc - in anime form - did not yet exist. Sorry for the block of text. I'm on mobile and attempts to create a paragraph break will likely submit an incomplete comment instead.

UltimateFusion96

Yeah, the Skypia arc made me drop One Piece it was such a snooze fest and I don’t care if had subtle lore here and there nor do I care if the manga had better pacing it was still a snooze fest regardless, but once I saw the fight between Luffy and Lucci my love for One Piece instantly came back and I’m glad this arc rekindled your love for One Piece.

Okoga

Most of the people that love Skypea love it because they read it first.

james blaire

god i love zoro's fighting scenes lol

james blaire

also that does happen to say the least one minute 'MY GOD i love this anime' then another arc 'god dam that is kinda ass' lol depends on the Arc that plays at the time

RondoNessia21

Yall think she going to like Thriller Bark I think so

SHOCK JOHNNY

I actually ended up dropping One Piece during WCI, believe it or not. Up until that point I had been binging One Piece regularly 'cause I just loved it so much. Finished all the movies by that time, except the ones that were releasing. It took me some time to catch up, off and on, as well. I don't remember how much time had passed when I stopped watching, but Wano was knee-deep into Act 2 of the arc.

Unsaidrumble

Skypia being bad is toeis fault for butchering the pacing. The read thru in the manga made it fun for me.

Liesmith

"And Usopp just met up with Robin" um ackshually, Sogeking just met up with her; Usopp left on his own.

Liesmith

As much as I love all the Japanese voices, I really appreciate that the English voice of Franky keeps calling everyone "brother" like Hulk Hogan.

seb

If you ever feel like you want to give up the series. Reading that specific arc in the manga or swapping over to one pace instead I can recommend. Manga is well paced, one pace is also well paced. Some people disagree with One Pace but honestly its made by people that love the show and want people to not dread watching it. While I personally like Skypea as a whole, the pacing of that arc is so bad. But there are more arcs in the future that do have some bad pacing too. Its the animes fault, not wanting to take breaks when they catch up or when Oda has been away for a while because of the income loss. You will notice how during Enies Lobby the episodes will have a long ass recap every episode, so the episodes are basically halved if you cut out the intro + recap + outro.

Demon Slayer

that one yugioh reference at the start kinda made me want to see Alicia react to the OG 5 seasons of yugioh for the channel (in the legendary ENGLISH DUB OF COURSE lol.) and hell, maybe even the elusive SEASON 0. I just don't know if she's seen it all already or not.

Smiling_Jack

Honestly, as much as we can clown on all the Navy train passengers, I still gotta respect T-Bone. He's an almost too empathetic dude who is legitimately in the service because he wants to help and protect the people; and he cares about all of his subordinates. Sadly, that's a rare thing in the Marines, so it's nice when you do get to see it; even if he fugly.

KingofKings42

I will say, as a warning, to your rant about how skypeia killed your one piece boner, that the next major arc, Thriller Bark, can be the same way for some people. It's just unfortunate because it's like a 5 or 6/10, but is sandwiched between quite possibly two of the best arcs in the anime. Like skypeia though, it has amazing moments, sets up lore and characters, and the end is amazing but the arc as a whole can be a bit of a slog. There's a reason Skypeia and Thriller Bark are the two most skipped arcs when people rewatch/reread the series.

Koga Wolfe

I enjoyed all of One Piece, filler included. I watch it for the full story and everything about it, not just to speed through or get to the next epic scene. For me there are no bad arcs, I just simply enjoy anime. I've even watched the other big anime like Naruto and Bleach and enjoyed every single minute, including all the filler. I've even enjoyed some movies that others say are the worst. Everyone thinks differently so no anime will ever please everyone. Even some of the top anime probably have some people that think it's terrible.

Lipton Iced Tea

Honestly, i think skypeia was a lot better on the second watch. Its pacing isnt perfect, but i didnt hate it as much as the first time i watched it.
