I don´t ship Luffy and Buggy, but I do sorta ship Shanks and Buggy in a kinda divorced-dads-trying-to-raise-their-ADHD-kid-while-having-a-complicated-relationship sorta way. So this armlet thing is a pretty hard series of events to figure out that needs a lot of memory to pull together. The Map that Buggy was trying to run away with (in the first flashback when he eats the devil fruit) was a map to Captain John's treasure. Captain John's treasure is the treasure Buggy has been consistently after throughout the series. On Thriller Bark, one of the Zombie Generals (pretty minor) was Captain John, and Luffy got that armlet from Thriller Bark's treasure room.

Zoro already went the right way by going the wrong way. In Sabaody he mistakenly thought the ship was at grove 1, and headed there. However, do to circumstances unbeknownst to him, the crew was currently meeting up at grove 1, so he was headed the right way.
