I was allowed to watch TV, but my parents were picky about WHAT I watched, so I was mainly limited to Disney. Spongebob in particular was okay at one point and then not because "he disrespects his elders" ._.

Bro, I woke up hungover as shit, looked at my phone and saw the notification for this, and I was just so surprised and confused. I still can't believe she's never seen Spongebob, but I hope she enjoys her time with it. It's one of those shows where it's like a cultural phenomenon, you've most definitely had people reference it without you realizing.

I used to work at a locally owned restaurant that was on the water (I live in a major boating/fishing town) that also doubled as a marina. And let me tell you, the anxiety we would get when we would see literal busses of people pull up was never ending. Usually it was school function stuff for sports teams. But that meant a solid 100+ people to cook for all at once on top of the usual customer base.

This is gonna be such a fun ride, I'm so ready for it! You're gonna hear a lot of people say to only watch the first 3 seasons and the movie, but I say as always form your own opinions and keep going as long as you'd like to. Admittedly there are some reasons for the creative direction to change after the first movie, and so it takes them a while to get back on their feet and find out their renewed identity as a show, so seasons 4&5 are rough and have some of what the fanbase consider the worst episodes in the series, but it's really nothing too bad, the biggest sins maybe being that they can be a little boring and the characters get pretty 'Flanderized' (meaning they take one aspect of the character, ramp it up to 11 and make that be the only thing that identifies that character) plus they do a little gross-out/shock imagery here and there that can be offputting. But it does get better after that, even if I can agree as a whole it never reaches the quality of the initial run of seasons 1-3 and the movie (though the 2nd movie is just as good as the first! Like so good it's shocking!), and it tends to go through the ups and downs that any long running episodic television show ends up suffering through, but it's still worth checking out I feel. Hell, there are even some "modern" Spongebob episodes that are agreed by the majority of fans to be some of the best in the series, up there with the likes of the greats of the first 3 seasons, so don't be afraid to take this trip and see for yourself why Spongebob is still so beloved!~

I mean hey, SpongeBob is a pretty good choice if you want a happier show! Easily my favorite cartoon when I was younger, and is still pretty high up there today. As for how far to go, I do agree that SpongeBob is at it's best in those first three or four seasons and the movie, but there's still some pretty good stuff that came after that... just nowhere near as good.

My dad is the head of the HOA for our neighborhood and he has been telling this one neighbor to clean up the front of their house because its just a weed infested random jumble of plants that looks awful but they claim its a beautiful garden and wont get rid of it. My mom and dad (in two different households) used to literally get SO ANNOYED because anytime the TV was on i wanted to watch SpongeBob lol I learned to work a TV remote at a super young age really quickly just so I could navigate and find SpongeBob on channel 301 DirecTV. They learned to love it after a while tho lol my dad (who is one of those fake tough guy manly man types) actually started learning the songs and singing along to them with me like the song Gary Come Home or his favorite, the Loop De Loop song. It truly was such an amazing show to grow up with. It was definitely made for intensely ADHD kids tho, that's for sure! Lol

In all fairness Alicia you're better than me, you at least have a good excuse for not seeing SpongeBob, I grew up and never saw it because I was a contrarian bastard who disliked anything that was popular with everyone else. It's only now in my 30's that I'm relaxed about that sort of thing enough to finally watch the show.
