Ah, yes. The lesser of the 3, yet certainly a good, fun movie in its own right. A perfect send-off and conclusion to those characters. No other Kung Fu Panda movie was ever made after this.

Wouldn't call it a "hot take," but I'd still mostly disagree. I'd say it's: 1) Shen 2) Tai Lung 3) Kai Kai's got an intimidating presence, great voice, and great theme, but he's got zero character arc or really any point other than a plot device. I mean, his whole gag is that nobody can remember who he is. XD

Mmm, I can respect that. Shen for me just never really felt that threatening honestly, and Tai Lung, well he’s TAI LUNG, so he’s my number one. Kai is in my 2nd place spot comfortably just off of his powers, intimidating presence (like you said) and he’s just overall a raw ass fighter. But I definitely see why you have Shen as your number 1 and Kai as your number 3.

It's really a short win for Shen for me. He definitely feels less like a threat, and Tai Lung *is* as you said, Tai Lung. His escape from prison remains one of the great villain introductions. But I have a soft spot for more complex villains. Tai Lung is more of a plot point in Shifu's relationship to Po and the Five than a meaningful character in his own right. But all three were great antagonists. Kai mostly suffers from KP3 focusing a lot on the comedy and panda antics and relegating the overarching plot to the back burner a little too much.

That’s a W take, I did feel like KP3 didn’t feel as serious as I would I’ve liked confident what Kai was doing. If it was taken serious, I feel like more people would have him as their top 1, but I def get where you’re coming from as well since I like complex villains a lot as well.

Idk why everybody is hating on the 4th film. While I do say its not as good as 1 or 2, I put it above 3 imo. I loved it when I saw it in theaters twice.

Can’t believe I was tearing up when Alicia didn’t even bat an eye, am I the only one that got that Po was sacrificing himself to protect the others by taking Kai back to the Spirit Realm? He didn’t know he would be able to come back, he was legit sacrificing himself, I don’t know about ya’ll, but that part had me tearing up a little

this is a good movie - the second one was more impactful because of how intertwined with Pos character it was. it had more personal lows and highs. there was no connection to the villain in the third movie, especially compared to the second. it was basically a fight between Oogway and Kai that Po had to finish.... which in itself is still a good message, that Oogway won by releasing control and entrusting others versus Kais taking. but it's not personal, it's not character based. in the second one, the villain had the means to defeat Kung fu but also, he was the source of Pos pain and confusion AND both Po and the villain had the same problem but chose to handle it differently. Po lost his family to tragedy and was wounded deeply and lost so much. so did the villain, who lost his parents due to the path he went down on. the villain chose to fight and use force to get his way and in the face of his pain he never looked inward, he even embraced his death that would end the pain rather than getting past it. while Po grew and found inner peace and was able to leave the pain behind. that's why it was more impactful. the third movie stepped up the stakes... but it was the same story and there was no connection to the villain for Po.

Honestly I really don’t think the movie is worth her time (or anyone’s for that matter). I’ve got a feeling the only positive thing Alicia might get out of watching it, is that it might make her appreciate the first 3 films even more, just because of how stupid and pointless the 4th movie is.

Not the best of the 3 (probably the weakest in my opinion), but still a really fun movie and a really nice send off to the franchise.. A fourth? What do you mean "a fourth movie"? There is no Kung Fu Panda 4...

The whole movie was way too overly friendly. I understood he was sacrificing himself but it’s hard to feel that way when it’s done in such a joking way with no real build up and moment after wards while in the other realm. When they were doing it in 2 the build up and pay off felt real. This one they just leaned too hard to make it feel more happy for kids. Which is fine but I just wasn’t hit by it.

They make so many movements for every sentence they make, in the first and second they just talk and have funny movements sometimes when necessary but in this every time they talk. It's exactly how the awful tv show was and I think why a lot of people don't like this movie nearly as much as 1 and 2

I like the comment from noneyabiss. But apart from that I just think Po is a deeply insecure person, so seeing him fail at the beginning is not because he is bad at what he is trying to do, he is just so insecure it's causing him to fail. These little X-Ray trivia bits are quit interesting. At the end (1:32:03) it says they have three more movies planed after this one. I haven't seen 4 yet, but these reactions made me look forward it and the once coming after that (if they haven't changed plans).

Sure, but if you are living in a secluded village with the thought that there are no other Pandas, and you travel out and see another Panda, the first thing that is going to go through your mind is "There are more Pandas out there" before it sinks in like "Oh, that's my child".

I see a lot of criticism of the 4th movie and I understand it but disagree. The first 3 movies are a trilogy showing the Development of Po into the Dragon Warrior. The 4th movie is its own isolated story, so to a lot of people it doesn't feel like its part of the series, and you shouldn't view it that way. There are many authors who wrote a trilogy, then wrote another book that was both part of and separate from the series.
