The fact that you caught the trans allegory in Gwen's story proves that it's not some fever dream of the terminally online twitter people. Marvel has been using allegory to promote civil rights for longer than most fans have been alive. But when they do it nowadays, suddenly they're "catering to the woke mob" and a bunch of unwashed asses argue about it for years after. Hope your youtube audience isn't full of a bunch of transphobe dillweeds.

Even if Donald Glover never got to play Miles/Spiderman... it's still soooo cool that the team behind these movies decided to include him here, after all... he was the main inspiration for the creation of Miles Morales' character in the comics.

The trans allegory was absolutely not imagined. I don't believe it's ever been confirmed, but god, it felt super obvious when I watched the first time. It's also why I love this movie so much, and it's why it means so much to me.

Beyond the Spider-verse was supposed to be released in 2024 but with the actors and va guild strikes stopped it's progression so it's slated to be released on June 2027 so 2 more years if no more delays.

Fun fact about this movie, there are actually two versions that were released. Everything plays out the same the only thing different are some dialogue between the spider peeps but its still fun to watch regardless of the version you watch lol

I love the messages of this movie "you cant have your cake and eat it too, unless you get two cakes" and "dont let anyone in these new fancy places push your arround, tell you who your supposed to be" these are one off lines that have MASSIVE plot relevence, these themes exist throuought the entire movie. and Im sure there are others that I missed.

I made a friend in boarding school when I was younger, and that friend died a couple years later. I didn't grieve at the time because I didn't know how, so instead I just closed out anything and everyone related to the boarding school. It's not until recently I started getting really hit by it feeling really down. Looking back, that was probably one of the most important friends I ever made, and I really hate that I live in a world where such people have to die so young.

I love Miguel as a character. He’s a spider-man that wasn’t actually supposed to be spider man, like Miles. I think his spider-man passed a long time ago. I don’t think it’s said specifically in this movie so it’s just kinda for comic nerds rn. BUT! At 33:25 when Gwen says “I don’t know how to fix this” he says “Join the club.” Miguel: -Isn’t Spider-Man. (Literally he doesn’t even stick to walls, he has claws. I don’t even think he has a spidy sense) -Tried to fix everything he could but ruined it, lost possibly the most of all spider-men. -Has somehow become the HEAD of a spider-society he ISN’T A PART OF really. -And has NO idea how to help people. He’s failed so much he’s out of ideas and is too scared to try anymore because the consequences are so dire he can never find anything worth the risk. He is overloaded with guilt more than Gwen, feels out of place more than Miles, and is more tired than Old Peter in the first movie. This whole movie is him just trying to still be a hero when he’s in dire need of saving, himself.

Man I slept on this shit for awhile just never got around to seeing it and I knew their would be references but gd the amount they had was wild. And all the live action was a surprise. Also Donald Glover would make a great Miles but if you remember he played Arron Davis before. Back in spiderman homecoming the street thug trying to buy the weapons that spiderman “interrogates” was Glover playing as the mcu’s Arron Davis he even mentions his nephew. So here’s hoping that Miles Morales pops up in spiderman brand new day with Tom holland as a mentor figure. We already got punisher confirmed as well as mj and Ned also leaks of hulk possibly being involved, so all that plus the symbiote AND a Miles appearance would be insane

Beyond the Spiderverse was supposed to come out 6mo after this. The plan was to make them at the same time, like Back To The Future 2 & 3. But development of Across the Spiderverse was so mismanaged that it alone didn't get fully finished until it came out on home video. The in-theater version was incomplete, and they kept pushing new updates to theaters constantly to add new scenes as they were made. Today, development on Beyond the Spiderverse has only barely started 😓

I love this movie SO much. Gwen's monologue at the beginning... makes a whole new kind of sense after you see the ending of the movie. It reads so much more like a recruitment pitch. Hobie is the OG in this movie, just full-stop. Yeah, he comes across as chaotic and self-contradictory out of the gate, but from the moment you meet him, he's simultaneously telling the truth and bullshitting... not only the other spiders, but the audience as well. He dropped all of the hints needed to help Miles and Gwen. Even all of those "random" bits and pieces that he was stealing from Spider Society HQ... weren't so random. They're the pieces he used to make his own wristband, free of Miguel's control. Also, I love that the actor who played Wakabi (the border tribe leader who sided with Killmonger in Black Panther) got to play him. I'm also so happy that the actor who played Dopinder in Deadpool got to have a legit hero role with Pavitr! I personally believe that this world's Miles isn't a villain, though. When Spot is telling him about stealing the spider, you see it on its way to that world's Miles (though you don't realize it until the end). The Sinister Six (which you overhear J. Jonah Jameson talking about on the TV) are a group of major Spider-Man villains, and they have Earth 42's New York by the throat. I believe that he's acting against them. And now... welcome to the agony of waiting for the next one. Still two years to go... at least... I'm ready for it... and not ready for it at all. I'm 99% certain that it is going to emotionally destroy ALL of us.

You were reading too far into the gwen scene, the pink and cyan colors were meant to represent confict in the scene, while sticking to her color scheme, her colors are just meant to represent "spiderman but girl", she is not trans but in her room a poster with the flag was added to show that she's an ally, i think there are some instances in other media where she's gay but I'm not completely sure

I love how the mom undermines her husband's authority as a parent by just telling miles to ignore his punishment so long as he does whatever he wants. Nothing says "i love and respect my husband" more than teaching your son to ignore what his father says.

When talking about problems near the beginning of the reaction, I always had a saying with my friends. "Someone else having it worse doesn't magically make your problems stop being problems." Also, about my only problem with this movie is Ben Reilly. He's a really cool character in the comics and they did him dirty by making him this weird angst guy.

This movie would go so much differently if Hobie were capable of communicating normally - he's so openly trying to warn Miles, but he just isn't getting through because he's so cryptic and mysterious about it. "That's a shame - because you're not ready for everyone else" is a crazy line to offer after a teenager complains about his parents caring too much about him. He's trying to warn Miles that very few people will bother to care about him at all. That's the curse of being Spider-Man, and Miles isn't ready for that if he's still caught up in the way people care about him.

Hobbie does sound a bit like Don lol. And I am also very glad you watched all the live action movies first. You can start guessing like the rest of us on how the next one which may or may not be tied to madam web. Also Pavitir said being Spider-Man was so easy and that he was also only like 6 months in the job, basically this means he hasn’t had enough experience with the hard parts of the job which come In time, unfortunately that time was when Miles decided to go to his dimension. It’s hard to say what is right or wrong in this story. Everyone wants to save their family and keep them safe, but hero’s can’t save everyone. But since he isn’t the original Spider-Man who may or may not have gone through those canon events. Lots to consider.

I know I'm late to comment,but I LOVE that you saw the trans allegory. She's even got a "protect trans kids" trans pride flag above her door. Her being confronted by her dad is also very similar to a trans kid being forced to out themselves. There might be a few more hints like that fact that she fits in Hobie's shoes, but that could be a stretch. Gwen is very trans coded in this movie and it's a common headcanon.

I love the callback to the first movie with Peter/Miles are tied to the punching bag. Lesson #1 "Don't watch the mouth, watch the hands" with Miles subtly channeling electricity through the restraints while talking to the other miles.

Yeah like every spiderman has to stop him becaause "great power, great responsibility" like that entire philosophy has become a trap to them where they have to choose to let few die for the many. But i would also argue that it's very anti-spiderman since spiderman would always try to find a way around it.

You are definitely not the only one noticing the trans allegory with Gwen there. I was really blown away in theaters with how blatent I felt it was, only for none of my friends to pick up on it until I pointed it out. I also loved your comentary as someone with Indian heritage commenting on all the fun culteral annoyances being talked about in the early part of the movie. But overall I love how much you love Spiderman. It's so clear through out all of these reacons so far how much love you have for Spiderman as a franchise and for Miles in particular. Can't wait for Spiderverse 3.
