Alright, potential TMI time As someone who has been in the bdsm scene for most of my adult life, I hate this series...the scene was flooded with shitty ignorant doms and innocent subs that didnt know any better, thinking this was a healthy dynamic. The author spent as many days in a bdsm relationship as JK Rowling has at Hogwarts. If this piqued your interest, please do your research on how to safely get into it and TRUST the person you try it with.

I do not like this movie for a very specific reason. For most of my life I've been in BDSM relationships. This movie is an example of a toxic relationship, and a poor example of BDSM. The lifestyle isn't about one side taking control over the other. It is about consensually giving up your control to someone you love. The dominant nurtures the submissive, and the submissive protects the dominant. To me it is one of the biggest forms of trust you can give.

I know its ultimately Alicia's decision to react to what she wants, but as someone who is HAPPILY paying for content... Its a little disconcerting. I have no problem with the Adult themes of this movie. Not an issue. My issue is how offensive this movie is to the BDSM community and how it misrepresents the fundamental values of that group. Its not done in a satirical way either. Its done seriously. Which is what makes it so eggregious. The author of the book had no clue of what BDSM actually is and those that wrote the screenplay obviously didn't change anything. I will be sitting this one out, and eagerly waiting for the next reaction.

Funny thing is, the people I know who've read the book (all of whom hate it) all say that this is a pretty well directed adaptation of 50 Shades. Everything that sucks about this film also sucks about the book - in fact, apparently a lot of the worst parts of the book were actually trimmed out and/or fixed up for the screenplay.

I really don't mean too, it's just I don't see why she would watch this movie, it's both not really good at all, to say the least, and also just takes some time in a schedule that's already full with stuff. At the end of the day it's up to her herself to decide what she watches, not any of us, and I fully recognize that, but I certainly am allowed to express my opinion at least, especially since I pay for Patreon, and my opinion is that I would have literally preferred to see her react to anything else but this movie, anything.

Worth watching if just to serve as a "how not to" guide. The utter lack of chemistry between the two leads is genuinely kind of mesmerizing. Great movie to watch with friends and yell at. I have no opinion on Dakota Johnson as an actress. Or Jamie Dorman. But the dialogue in the movie is so terrible, I don't think *anyone* could have made it sound good. And that's an improved version over the book. They changed a lot, especially cutting off most of Anastasia's obnoxious inner monologue. They changed so much, I'm pretty sure the author managed to get the director of the first movie swapped out because the movie didn't stick close enough to her "vision".
