me when I clone all over my wars

God this episode's moral conflict didn't age well given the war in Ukraine.

Kevin

it also didnt work in the universe itself. Pacifism only works on a personal level.

Honestly the Jedi aggravate me a lot with how they ‘attempt’ to teach the whole attachment thing. I think objectively they are going about it correctly and Jedi should be heavily encouraged to not form attachments to people because the nature of their abilities as well as the nature of their actual job makes having attachments dangerous for not just them but the entire galaxy at large. The thing that frustrates me though is that the Jedi are so mystical and religiously cryptic about how they explain this to their students. Most of the time when someone asks “Why can’t I form attachments if I’m still supposed to be compassionate?” and their most common answer is something like “Attachment leads to the dark side.” or “We need to be the greater good and when you’re older you will understand.” but not a single one of them seems capable of just laying it out straight for someone like “Look we need to be compassionate because we need to care about the lives of the people in the galaxy and look towards the galaxy’s betterment as a whole. The reason we forbid attachment, however, is not out of lack of compassion but rather it is a show of compassion for our own order members. It’s a rule that, while hard to follow, preemptively removes your ability to encounter one of the hardest challenges a person can face which is the decision to save someone you are attached too or a group of people you are not attached too. We recognize this is a horrid and almost unbearable situation to be in for any individual but Jedi need to keep a clear head when facing it and so we try to foster an environment where you can still feel accepted and not alone while also encouraging that you try your hardest not to put yourself in the position to have to make that choice. It is hard losing anyone you are trying to save but losing someone you love can drive people to do terrible things and with our level of power and influence we need to hold ourselves to the highest standard because if we didn’t then the galaxy would be in flames.”

Yeah, even as a kid that seemed dumb to me. Now, as an european I’m kind of pissed off by it, it's the same argument from those who justify the war.

Phantom Pledge

Its because of that and numerous flaws many jedi stray to a different path because of bullshit they deal with. Look at Qui Gon, Ani, and Dooku. I could never be a jedi because of their way of life

Raskilion

Fun fact: You can see Bly and Aayla Secura in one of the main films, specifically episode 3.. during order 66.

Gods this episode infuriates me honestly the Lurmens whole argument is absolute idiocy, the idea that fighting in a war even if you didn't start it is just as bad is stupid, not only because not fighting back leads to the subjugation and deaths of people, also trying to be a pacifist whilst people are being slaughtered and enslaved is not only stupid its morally reprehensible if you have the power to fight back and help people but don't because you're complacent in their deaths. I get not wanting to partake in a war but don't try to say and act you're morally superior and in the right.

If it pleases you, your Grace, I have Clone nicknames for you and your best friend. You'll be known as Ratter and your best friend shall be known as Speed/Speedy.

Minidiamant

I really like the way Asokha fights where she kinda pauses every attack before taking the next one.

Verdigree

This is the coldness of the Jedi, there really was no better metaphor for asking the Jedi to save you than in the movie where Anakin literally drives right past Ahsoka and doesn't hear her calling

donald johnson

look at how the clones visor changes in each scene 5:44

James

The whole pacifism thing doesn't work when your enemy doesn't care.

Twisted Fictions

Anakin in Battlefront is HILARIOUS. Like, I have actively watched entire battle lines hear 'Anakin Skywalker has arrived' and just SCATTER because he WILL pull twenty droids towards himself and ruin them. He's almost as scary as Yoda - but Yodas advantage is you can't see his tiny ass until he starts cutting your friends apart

Twisted Fictions

S Force Healing isn't actually all that rare. Like, at all. It's just that the Jedi that opted to fight for teh Republic in the Clone Wars were the more martially minded almost as a rule. There are PLENTY of Jedi who can Force Heal, among other things, at the Temple.

Ayla Secura is one the Jedi we see die by Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, she was on the planet Felucia when the Clones she was in charge of shot her from behind. And as you can guess.... she is one of the most popular characters in certain sites for Cultured men and women. Also... to adress the people who criticize the Lurmen... here is a fragment of my absolute favorite Star Wars Essay: "In the Lurmen we are given a perspective that fundamentally contradicts the heroic image of the republic that has thus far been presented to us, they don't see the republic and the jedi as the near universal good that they purport themselves to be... but instead they're seen as being just as destructive and violent as the separatists. The jedi protests that they're fighting for freedom but to the Lurmen... liberty is not worth the cost of armed struggle, in spite of the irrational extreme to which their pacifist philosophy is taken... we know that there is a grain of truth in what the Lurmen leader said, the republic and the jedi could hardly claim moral superiority when as we see an increasing frequency as the show goes on... they commit many of the same atrocities as the separatists". Dave Filoni, the showrunner of The Clone Wars also said this in an Interview: "We show these different points of view that kind of compromise the jedi... or show them in a way that we're not familiar with. I thought the Lurmen were a really good way to start introducing this theme and it really puts Ayla Secura on the spot, it really puts ahsoka on the spot.... they think they're fighting on the side of good and here they have to meet a character and they have to be confronted by the idea that well maybe you're not". The real discussion here is about how the Lurmen start to introduce the idea on the show of the Jedi and the republic not really being "the good guys", and yes... the absolute pacifism of the Lurmen leader is foolish and even harmful... but the main theme during this small arc is to put the "good guys" side on the spot, which is something i think a lot of fans just gloss over.

2026-10-07 07:00 "What difference does it make who started the war and who only wants to end it? No side is free of fault. It takes two to fight." I quoted this back when watching the Avatar reaction back in Book 2 in the Library episode, when the librarian spirit argued with the Gaang over war and morality then as well.

I am not entirely sure why you would quote that when it is a terrible message. there is a difference between not seeking out conflict and refusing to even defend yourself, even against a clearly evil opposition. the way these lemurs are currently thinking is incredibly wrong and I am glad they are corrected in the next episode. the notion that you should simply roll over and show your belly to an invading force for the sake of avoiding fighting is idiotic. there is a reason groups that would do such a thing do not exist, they are immediately destroyed
