For sure! I just would hope we could get '97 sooner than later, as it's only like ~10 episodes and IMO the best of the bunch. Where there's a lot of dead weight over the 100s of episodes of the other series I feel - I couldn't get through the OG re-watch I started, but I did watch the other two series after '97 for the first time and they were pretty fun, but not up to '97 for me! One issue in general I think is there's so many character changes show to show that to me what's cannon and what's not can get very muddy or completely backwards one show to the next. And they all kinda just retread the same story beats over and over, where '97 really hit hard, and has a pretty fantastic budget behind it comparatively too which was a lot of fun! In favor of going in order though, if you have the willpower, the OP from '97 hits hard as fuck, where I imagine if you start with '97 that won't carry the same hype to it!

I actually never watched this movie until now. The Dark Phoenix Saga was the first real Marvel comics I read, after getting a trade paperback of the whole thing out from the library. Having both watched the 90's cartoon's decent adaptation of it, and read the original as my first 'real' comic book, it's an important arc to me, and after X3 botched it so hard, when this one didn't do great I just wrote it off. Having now seen it, I think it's an even less-faithful adaptation of that original plot than X3 was, but I think it was still a *better* story than X3, and does better service to the scope of her powers, having her transmute matter into other things instead of just disintegrating stuff.

We have been patient, in fact we've been patiently waiting for over a month now. But yes I have been enjoying some of her other content in the meantime (especially Spongebob), though it's kinda hard to say the same for this particular movie, since Dark Phoenix is easily the worst film in the X-Men series, and it's so pointless that she could've skipped it entirely and it wouldn't have mattered or affected anything in the slightest. Not to mention it was supposed to come after Logan and Deadpool 2 technically... I'm sorry if us asking when she plans on watching Logan is annoying you, but considering that on June 28th Alicia posted an update with a list of movies/shows (including Logan) she planned on watching over the next 10 days (and it's definitely been longer than that, plus the vast majority of that list she has already finished at this point), I'd say our questions regarding that initial plan are valid enough. Though if Alicia later decided she wanted to wait until Adora came back from hiatus so they could watch Logan together, that's totally valid. NTM as annoying as it may be, perhaps there are good reasons why so many people have been eagerly waiting and asking when she plans on watching Logan, because it really is that damn good! If and when Alicia & Adora are ready to see it, they'll soon know exactly what all the hype was about, and it'll be well worth the wait. (Hopefully we won't have to wait through another 50 Shades of Gray movie before that. XD)

The entire reason she started this marvel journey is because she had spent years listening to others and ignoring marvel. The fact that so many keep encouraging her to skip "bad" movies in the comments only reinforces how necessary it is for her to see them for herself. And guess what? The movies don't do these characters justice. The animated series have them much more fleshed out and gives them better storyline. Aside from the 90s xmen, the 2008 Xmen evolution is one of the better received animated series, though it does change the ages of some characters

Also, imo Scott can suck a nut, I hate Cyclops, worst x men character by far at least his brother, havoc was cooler and his power was more sporadic and unique... Scott is one of superman's powers and that's it, he's got heat vision whoopity doo, how many other characters out there that have heat based powers that'd absolutely demolish him, not even in a fight but in a show of abilities is tremendously outmatched. Besides these two conflicting arguments, I agree with everything else... prof was the villian in this movie, but it also shows how a butterfly effect of things can just happen throughout life and how things can spiral if not controlled/managed properly. My only caviot when it comes to this film is that the whole premise of days of future past was that we wanted to avoid giving the government and subsequently trask, raven/Mystique's blood, that's how the Sentinel program to be... wouldn't ravens blood be on the fence, the ground and anywhere else during the crime scene or is this some sort of movie magic that they magically had some bleach and just removed the blood from that area? In the end whether it was the original timeline or the new one, Mystique had to die according to the films.

Fun fact, you call it a bit silly having the dark phoenix come from space but that's 100% comic book accurate, the phoenix is an extra-universal power that just s happened upon Jean on a mission to space, so as goofy as it is, that actually happened in canon. And you see why they kinda just didn't do that in the previous attempt at the storyline XD

It was so fast that if it detected an incoming missile, the pilot could just accelerate and outrun it. Gotta be “that guy”. Cyclops power isn’t heat vision. His eyes are portals to a dimension of pure concussive energy strong enough to level cities and has an energy output equal to a large nuclear reactor. The downside is that he can’t control the output when his eyes are open so he needs his glasses and visor. Also if you remember in DoFP, Trask himself said that blood wasn’t enough to get the Sentinels we were trying to avoid. He said he needed pretty much everything, bone marrow, brain tissue, etc.

Um yeah no this is definitely the worst X-Men movie, it's at least on par with X-Men Origins: Wolverine in terms of raw awfulness (if not slightly worse), but even that movie was more memorable and entertaining than this boring pointless schlock-fest. It's very clear that X-Men lost its magic with this movie, as Dark Phoenix was obviously just a last ditch effort to squeeze out 1 last bit of X-Men movie money before the franchise rights expired and Fox got bought out by Disney and whatnot (from what I've come to understand at least)

But... the woman in x-men cause more problems than the men, mystique has been going rogue/"evil" for half the movies, jean grey loses her mind in several movies and attacks other xmen woman didnt have an amazing positive impact on the xmen to make a line like this not cringey and forced to make a plot of "woman power" in this movie. xmen are anti-discrimination, I doubt theres ever a line putting down men to bring up woman in any of their comics, or if there is it'd be recent

You guys do realize that Storm couldn't do anything cause she was in the middle of New York, right? Like she can use her powers there's A BUNCH of civilian all around her! She doesn't want to kill anyone! When she's attacking the aliens there isn't any collateral to worry about, so she can actually do stuff. Like come, I feel like that's so obvious.

One thing I really don't like is the physical depiction of Leach, the bald boy. In the comics, he is a physically deformed mutant with green skin and an oversized head. He and his group were mutants who were weak and physically unable to hide the fact that they're mutants. He was a sweet kid who was tragically murdered because he and his found family couldn't mask their mutants like the xmen. He shouldn't have been a regular kid and that still bothers me.

So important thing about Nightcrawler/Kurt that I love is that if he wanted to he could teleport body parts off of you, he doesn't have to take the whole person so he is crazy lethal. Also in lots of comics and media he uses swords with his tail and stuff. He's a nice passive guy. until he isn't.

Ok so the first "bullet" they fired on the aliens was a mutant suppression device, the same thing they used on hank and storm NOT a taser. It's only single use is to suppress mutants, hence not working on the aliens as they are not mutants. The bullets from the helicopter are just straight up metal so they work just fine though. This movie is chock full of stupid mistakes but don't just hate on it for things that actual make sense if you take the time to understand.

Storm is also able to create atmospheres. She created one around the ship, allowing her to manipulate the air. She sealed the ship and gave Jean an atmosphere to breathe in without a helmet.
