The whole point of giving them the failed fruits is that they have already been bitten, it's how they knew they were duds, so you CAN share smile fruits, atleast all the negative side effects. So the fruit DID affect him.

To think this fight with Kaido was set in motion all the way back in Punk Hazard.... For the first time since that arc, we don't have an immediate goal in front of us. You are spreading misinformation, if you couldn't spread Smile Fruits than the failed fruit wouldn't have affected the entire town of Ebisu. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE APPLES ALREADY HAD A BITE, THEY WERE DETERMINED TO BE FAILED FRUIT AND MADE THE PLEASURES OF OROCHI/KAIDO'S ARMY. You're basing this on a Vivre Card which is confirmed isn't even fully written by Oda, it's just some notes of his and work with his editors. Just because they ONCE omitted Yasuie mention of a 'possible fruit' something that has been done numerous times to actual Devil Fruit eaters within this series, it never was hard confirmation that Yasuie never ate a Smile Fruit. And again, go back to the chapter, the thing that is THE ACTUAL CANON the scene with Yasuie and Otoko is barely even two panels! You can't infer SHIT from that! So not only are you taking the misconception based on the Vivre Cards as somehow hard and direct clarification, you're backing it up with the TOEI FILLER the anime had produced.

First off I said anyone can look up themselves so relax on the whole “spreading misinformation” if I’m wrong I’m wrong it’s not a big deal Second I’m pretty sure it is stated that Oda is a supervisor on the vivre card where he also uses it for details he leaves out/forgets, so I don’t think he’s completely hands off

Kaido is the number 1 Joy Boy simp and was the top contender of the prior era to become Joy Boy. His values were too warped by his own miserable life to actually become Joy Boy but he had the presence of mind to comprehend that by pursuing his warped ideals, inevitably, he would be the only remaining hurdle for the true Joy Boy to overcome. In effect, creating the conditions for a speed run of liberation. That’s why Kaido laments Luffy’s defeat w/ “You couldn’t become Joy Boy either.” he’s literally screening candidates and consolidating prospective opposition by ‘collecting’ strong crew members. He busts out King just like Fisher Tiger too. It also explains why he is an alcoholic and why he’s so brutal to Yamato while still accommodating for gender preference (which seems hypocritical). Kaido is depressed knowing his life is a footnote in Joy Boy’s and that he wouldn’t be able to deliver the same despite all his power (compounded by facts like King ID’ing him as Joy Boy; which he knew he was not) and that in the conditions he thinks are a prerequisite for Joy Boy’s appearance he needs Yamato to be as strong as he is to survive and plausibly inherit Kaido’s will; as that’s the whole reason he’s even at Wano and he wants Yamato to take over: to amass a singular hurdle for Joy Boy and wait to meet him in a place he would no doubt come. And the way he attained power is misery, so that’s the path he paves for Yamato. Kaido is the top antagonist to date, IMO.

@FreakoNico Oda does supervise and edit the vivre cards, and when errors are spotted revisions are made. The entire "Yasuie never ate a SMILE fruit" was pure conjecture based on his vivre card not mentioning one way or another if he did. People made assumptions about it and started incorrectly repeating that he didn't eat one. This scene confirmed that he actually did, and I think it may have been in an SBS as well.

See, whether Yasuie actually ate one originally or not, that's irrelevant to whether you can share SMILE fruits or not. You can't share the POWER from a SMILE fruit, just like a regular devil fruit, but the entire point of the SMILE fruits being distributed to the village by Orochi is that the side effect of SMILE happens regardless of whether you get a power or not. That also means multiple people taking bites of them, it's an effect of the chemicals themselves, not the "devil" power. "Anyone can look things up themselves" isn't an excuse to let misinformation be spread without restraint just cause you feel good about posting stuff, if you're wrong about something and someone corrects you, accept it or at least discuss it in good faith until you figure out what's the actual fact. Don't just go "it's not a big deal if I'm wrong", that's shitty towards everyone who reads comments

I'm sorry, but Kaido is absolutely NOT respecting Yamato's gender preference. Luffy uses he/him because he respects Yamato. Kaido calls Yamato his son out of disrespect because he was shown to be very disappointed in having a daughter. Then continues to do it to mock Yamato over their Oden dream. Kaido is a bad person. He has killed hundreds and tortured more. He's enslaved an entire nation and ruined the lives of 99% of them. He pushed families to murder their babies so they wouldn't have to live under his rule. If you think for even a second that Kaido decided gender preference is the one area he would be kind in, then you're delusional. Also most of this is pure headcanon that goes against multiple stated facts throughout the series. The first line alone is ridiculous

I do not for the life of me understand where the idea that Kaido is sexist comes from. Literally, at no point has it ever been shown in the story that he cares about whether someone is a man or woman (if he did, I doubt he would have allowed Ulti and Black Maria to join the tobiroppo). I have no problem believing that Kaido would respect Yamato's gender preference simply because he doesn't care one way or the other. "Daughter, I want you to-" "Actually, Dad, I'm your son now." "Sure, Son. Whatever. Thunder bagua." Feels much, much more natural to his character than him somehow having a trait that he has never shown any hint of having in the story.

“Musuko” is “son” and is used the most often as his term of address to Yamato. Seems Yamato agrees with this term of address given the bath scene. Even if what you claim were the case the desired and used pronouns are in alignment, are they not? Did I ever say he was a good person? I’m pretty sure I made the opposite case; good people don’t wage wars of subjugation on the world lol. Luffy isn’t even a ‘good person’; you think all the grunts that he gum-gum whips/gatlings go home in one piece? Were they as worthy of such while the cockroach Charlos is doing just dandy? It’s easily discernible that kindness at no cost is the easiest to engage in. Kaido loses absolutely nothing, not even changed speaking cadence (syllables), affirming Yamato’s pronoun. So many facts you couldn’t list one, right? Why don’t you explain why Kaido lamented “You couldn’t become Joy Boy either” through your lens. It implies he was waiting. That victory was not his desired outcome. Which is hypocritical considering he can’t “drag them down” (his speech at festival) to the world of violence if a Joy Boy defeats him. My theory connects many of the dots; if yours is so superior, and not just black:white good guy beats bad guy (which we both know Oda is better than after coming to comprehend Big Mom’s *motivations, not means*), enlighten me, please.

Yeah it’s a near 0-cost ‘kindness’. A type often exhibited in real life. Musuko and musume are even identical in syllables. Literally a character difference. Truly being malicious would be denigrating Yamato’s desire to be Oden and flaunting the incorrect identity. I’d err toward it being that no-cost kindness as people with trauma usually comprehend things through the vehicles that traumatized them and Kaido was a *child soldier* forced on the run, fighting at every turn to just not be an owned man. Yamato saying I want to be Oden, and Kaido meting out brutality in increasing measure seems to me that Kaido’s math was: constant struggle and misery made *me* mighty. Oden was mighty. If Yamato wishes to be mighty I will do unto them as was done unto me. Shackles. Confinement. Owned. Put to task. Unfortunately for Yamato, every power-scaler would agree the fodder marines Kaido allowed to cuff him and plausibly peak Kaido are 2 *very* different ‘gravity chambers’, so to speak. In broad strokes, Kaido emulated his progression unto Yamato. Attributing genuine affection is the bridge I’d leave uncrossed, but the parallels are clear as day; IMO. And we will see in Yamato what a Kaido that escaped not only the physical shackles, but the metaphysical, would be like. Because those *clearly* remained, which should go without saying given his excessive drinking and skydiving without a parachute.
