Fun fact for this episode: the english dub used Marc Hudson from DragonForce for the lead vocalist of Hayashi, as well as Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth) on guitar, CHARGEEEEEE... (ex-ZIGGY) on drums and Wakazaemon (ex-East Of Eden) for bass.

The band in this episode is modeled very, VERY closely on J-Rock pioneers X Japan. If you're not familiar with them, absolutely check them out. The song they do here is very similar to X Japan's Kurenai, so I'd start there.

dandadan might be one of the few series where the anime is a straight up upgrade from the manga, the whole music performance with the spirits is anime original, of course the manga made you understand they're super cool and everyone started headbanging but all they got where a couple of really cool panels, the whole prep and the spirits coming out of their graves is all new and the rest is a one to one adaptation, no cut scenes to save time they added more instead

I don't think Jiji is capable of truly bullying. He did make fun of her, but I can't see him having any ill intent behind it. It's reasonable for Momo to have an issue with it, but he's the kinda kid that you can tell him, "hey that hurts my feelings" and he would 100% have stopped and apologized. I think it was the fact that Momo was already a little embarrassed, she shut her self down and internalized the negativity. Momo of today would have shut Jiji down, and he would have accepted that back then and today.

While the band is obviously a homage to X Japan, the silent guitarist also looks extremely like Marty Friedman of Megadeath. Note The Marty Friedman Band were the ones who composed the song for the show. Marty has lived in Japan since 2000 and had contributed music on a number of anime.

The fact that the Japanese singer is fucking Jean from AoT is so insane to me. Plus the lead guitarist work is done by Marty Friedman from Megadeth and the English lyrics in the dub are by the lead singer of Dragonforce Marc Hudson. This song went straight in my playlists. Best part is because they can't sense spirits they're just rocking out for the love of the game because Seiko asked them too

And, even if he was a bully back then, it's just poor faith to hold the actions of a child against them when they grow up. If you, as a child, were personally impacted by another child bullying you, that's one thing, but a third party holding the child-bully to account ten years later is just a poor attitude on the part of the third party, *especially* if the child-bully grew past that attitude. Kids, especially little boys, love to tease and rough house, because that's just typical to their nature. If something sticks out as funny, they're going to laugh and mock, not strictly to be mean, but simply because they think it's funny and they don't have the maturity to take empathy into account.
