when alicia said she was going watch the DC movies I assumed it was going to be starting from the old batman movies and green lantern and maybe the justice league set of movies but I guess alicia has already seen those :-{ . I am happy to see this movie and joker again but still I thought we were going to build up to this like we did with the spider-man movies. also a bit of a different subject when i was 16 I found a mask that looks just like that riddlers mask I found it in a fishing store that was closing down it was dark green leather on the front it had a weird openable hatch/door over the mouth and the inside of the mask was white wool.

Wanna brag a bit here, I worked at little Caesars during the movie promotion, not only did we get special hats (hat collector hype) but also got collectible posters as well. I had to buy the special pizza to get a poster even though I worked there but I was able to secure them so. Fun fact, the company gave us a special plastic mold/ cookie cutter to be able to shape and mold the pizza-calzone. We have different plastic separators for different pizzas. Though I don’t work there anymore I bet the fantastic 4 pizza has a special mold used too.

I swear that conversation between Batman and Riddler in that cell makes this movie. That was such an intense scene with the whole audience on the edge of their seats. The riddler was basically stabbing batman the entire time with emotional daggers hitting home, and you see the panic even through the mask that the Riddler might really know who he is.

I love that Riddler is clearly smart enough to realise that Bruce Wayne is Batman, but he’s so blinded by his bias view of Bruce being just another self-absorbed, entitled elitist that he can’t quite put the pieces together. Alicia posting The Batman and Joker on the same day was so a wonderful surprise, and I hope she reacts to The Penguin miniseries as well.

This movie isn't relevant to Superman as this Batman is non-canon to the new DCU. Which also means its related media like Penguin also isn't relevant to the DCU. Peacemaker is, as is Creature Commando's, not sure about Suicide Squad but I don't think so. Blue Beetle also isn't relevant to my knowledge.

I explained more, but edited it out. Batman and Penguin aren’t canon, but still could be if they’re smart, and people do expect her to watch them. Suicide Squad is canon to Peacemaker, so it’s canon to the DCU. Blue Beetle is dubious, the actor will continue playing Blue Beetle in the DCU.

Thank you for reacting to this movie, it's honestly one of my favorite superhero movies ever, right up there with Infinity War and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The mystery and action were damn excellent, Robert Pattinson as Batman/Bruce Wayne is really good, and the side characters are great. Also Riddler's plan was honestly terrifying, and Bruce learning he needs to be more than vengeance for Gotham, that he needs to inspire hope was awesome. Now that you've seen this movie I would recommend watching The Penguin show, it's in the same universe as this movie and it focuses on the villain Penguin and while I won't give spoilers obviously I will say it's really good, the way the show deals with the characters and their plans is so smart.

I love that when Falcone was dying and looking up at batman and him staring back at him, you can tell Falcone recognized as Bruce cause of story where his father treated Falcone little Bruce was staring down at him from the stares the entire time.

Little ten year old me was terrified of bats. Came home once with mom, I HOPE there was a babysitter for my younger and baby sister. But baby sister said "A big moth came in through the fireplace and flapped around" and I was like "What?" But then mom saw a "mouse" on the lamp in the upstairs living room, VERY far away from the fireplace and told me to go catch it. I was like "I am a big one, I can do this!" and walked over with a towel. When I noticed it was NOT in fact a mouse, I ran away screaming. We called the police, who sent an officer over, who himself, a grown ass man, freaked out trying to release it. Bats was scary, yo. Til I found out they eat mosquitoes and now, I love their squeaks while they fly around my town. As long as I am typing a novel, I may as well extend it. I have been bitten by far too many spiders and NOT gotten superpowers from it, to even tolerate them in my space. You got eight legs and crawl around my apartment? You getting smashed. I will HULK SMASH you.

Still wished they kept the scene in... But the movie was already too long as is... ...I kind of wish they would use it at the start of the next movie as some kind of introduction flashback or something.

Also the legendary voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, with alot of others you might not yet know their names of, but their voices. And a drawing style and background art developed for the Batman series

I love how this movie gives us a year 2 batman, that is constantly Batman. At night he's vengeance, during the day, he still vengeance just without his suit and he can't punch anybody. We have a bat that actually has to grow into being Bruce Wayne.

the scene is great because it shows the preexisting history between the Joker and batman, he said he's been doing this for two years after all, the reason I think they cut it though is because it takes away from batman being a detective and solving everything himself. plus if he was in it people would have focused on the fact the Joker was in the movie instead of keeping focus on the riddler

Structuring this movie as a detective film was so great for it, and yeah it's one of the issues with Marvel oversaturation, they're *too* consistent in tone. I think it's part of why the Marvel streaming shows did so well, yes they're all still superhero-y, but they've got different vibes to them. Wandavision was a weird mildly spooky homage to the history of sticoms, Loki was a sci-fi/fantasy mystery series, Hawkeye has the action-with-some-comedy vibes of shows like Burn Notice or Person of Interest. I kinda wish they'd lean a little *more* into the differences in tone for the sort of sub-franchises of Marvel. Let Dr Strange be scary like the last big chunk of Multiverse of Madness, let Captain America lean into the Tom Clancy political espionage/conspiracy vibes, keep letting Thor be funny and absurdist even if 4 wasn't as good as 3

Gotham in this film looks so good because it was filmed heavily in Liverpool, a city with rich Neoclassical, Greek Revival, and Gothic Revival architecture that fits Gotham perfectly. They also filmed in Glasgow, as well as Chicago. So the result is a fantastic-looking city that feels unique, something I personally thought was lacking in the Snyderverse (DCEU) and the Nolan trilogy, where (aside from Batman Begins) Gotham basically just became Chicago or New York, lacking a unique identity. The only thing I would add to The Batman’s Gotham City are blimps flying overhead, ever since Batman: The Animated Series they’ve been a staple of the city but have never appeared in live action, at least in the films. I would love to see them in the films. Visually, they would look stunning flying over the city, and the sound of them would make for a great ambient effect, a buzz throughout the city. If we don’t get them in The Batman films, then we’ll no doubt see them in the DCU under James Gunn, since that’s going in a more fantastical direction, while The Batman is still fairly grounded in terms of realism.

this is my favorite Batman movie, yes over The Dark Knight and everything to me this is like the most accurate version of a solo Batman we could get, it feels like every frame was ripped off the panels of a comic book she’s reacting to this at a good time too, i believe Superman (2025) comes out on digital in like two weeks so a lot of youtubers will be reacting to it soon that didn’t go see it in theatres

3:23:24 I have to disagree on that because ALL the live action version of the joker so far have been "let's do something different and be original" and for every Heath Ledger's joker that are good original depictions (while still being bad adaptions), we get shitty ones like Jared Leto. It's getting exhausting. A good Joker live action adaption I'm still waiting (and will probably never see because everyone is obsessed with rAaLiSm hurr durr) should be based the Batman Animated Series, Justice League Animated, Return of The Joker and the Arkham games, all voiced by Mark Hamil. THAT is the quintessential version of the character people should aspire to replicate that have yet to get in live action. -The Joker should NOT wear makeup, his skin is white because of the acid; -He should not be sympathetic or misunderstood. -He should be comically villainous for evil's sake. That was my Joker rant, ty for coming to my TED talk 😅

Yeah, I feel like Thunderbolts* managed to capture some of the "Band of misfits buddy movie" vibes of the first Guardians, but with the tone *just* serious enough. And First Steps definitely felt like a superhero movie, but it felt like it had MCU quality and respect for source material, combined with some of the fun cheesy vibes of older pre-MCU superhero movies

Yeah, like a reaction to the best episodes of the DCAU(not all of it, BTAS and STAS are all over the place in quality) would rule. Last Son of Krypton is still on of my favorite pilot episodes of all time, and probably in my top 5 favorite episodes of Superman.

Why do you want that type of Joker to be adapted into Live-Action when he's already so well-depicted in animated films and shows? I appreciate what the live-actions movies do... trying to make different versions of the character that are more grounded in reality... But when i get a bit tired of that i can just go back to Batman The Animated Series or any of the other shows to watch the more Classic Joker. If they ever make a Joker on live-action that sticks to his comic depiction and nails it... then great. But i think the animated ones already did a great job of that, there's no need (in my opinion) for it in Live-action... which is such a different medium. But i get this is your rant, so.... Fair.

I get your point and I agree to some extent, I don't think it should be necessary for ANY comic book characters to be adapted in live action in the first place BUT if they do I would like them to at least TRY to adapt a more faithful version of the character, at least once. ALL we get are "original takes that are grounded in reality" and it's exhausting to me. IMO it's catering to people who can't take more fantastical depictions seriously / people who think animation = for children and will only take media seriously if it's in live action. I understand these people also makeup the majority of the customer base but I prefer when someone has the balls to be more sincere and be like "no I won't cater to the lowest common denominator and I will keep it as accurate to the source material." The MCU has been very good at this (at least up until it started going downhill post-Endgame) And so far the James Gunn stuff has good potential for that AND the matt reeves Batman and Penguin shows are also very good thus far, I just hope they don't shy from the fantastical aspects when the introduce The Joker. TL;DR realistic original joker takes are literally all we have in live action. If making live action adaptations are inevitable why not at least TRY to make it more accurate.

It's one of my favorite DC shows overall and I personally think it offers a great balance of things for long time fans and newcomers looking to try to get into the DC universe (I always recommend it when I know someone trying to give DC a chance)

I remember when this film was in theaters, it got a lot of disinterest due to how different it was, but it is one really well done movie. Was their pushback regarding Gordan's actor? Only by rage baiters. The actor picks up the role and plays it brilliantly. FYI, I'm really tired of rage baiters. Most of the time, these people are raging about shows and films they've never seen themselves. If you're going to rage about something, at least experience it first to form an opinion.
