I’m so glad you continued watching this. The previous episodes give such a good job at giving you secondhand embarrassment and thinking Subaru is such an idiot that it causes some to drop the show. This arc is basically a journey of going through the heaviest rain to see a beautiful rainbow and think “Worth it”

It doesn't make sense, because the series tries very blatantly to make sure you know that resetting isn't a cruch. Its a traumatizing, hellish experience, and later on it gets even worse when more about it is revealed.

Absolute masterpiece of a two/episode combo, I think it's genuinely up there as one of the greatest of all time. Betelgeuse is such an incredible villain, so genuinely offputting and tortuous yet so intriguing as well, and the cinematography and writing of both episodes is just SO GOOD. Personally, I'm of the belief that Subaru was faking his madness to some degree, maybe not completely but he wasn't entirely catatonic. He did actually flinch a bit when Betelguese licked his eye, and once he started interrogating him, he started acting more deranged and breaking down, but he absolutely heard everything that had been said because he IMMEDIATELY called Betelguese by name and raged HARD at him for what he did to Rem, so he was aware of what was going on to some extent. AAAAA I love this show so much dude its so peak

In the pinned comment there is a document with the redeemable shows, seems like premium subscribers on patreon can choose one episode a month from the shows on that list for her to watch, now how she decides which show to actually watch is a mistery to me bc theres a lot! Luckily someone reedemed all of season 1 and part of season 2 already, plus the movies, so unless the interest wanes she will get to them eventually

There's some way you can redeem thats in like a pinned link or something, or maybe in her discord. Im not fully sure how it works. But as for why its on redeem only is probably because this anime would not survive on YouTube without some pretty serious and consistent censorship. Most of the people watching on YouTube would have no clue what's going on and subtitles might have to be blocked out. Meaning the editors would also have to add a TON of lines of subtitles for those sections. Ultimately to show this anime on YouTube would probably be worth less than the effort put into it. Less people would watch with all of the censorship.

So that confusion about Julius being called 'Good natured' and 'self Sacrificing' by Felis was that Julius got punished for doing that duel, but he, as a good person, knew that if he DIDNT publicly shame Subaru, the rest of the knight order were willing to straight up MURDER Subaru for that insult to their pride when nobody was looking. So he chose that path, besmirching his name by beating a weakling, showing the rest of the knights that Subaru wasn't actually worth their spite and hatred as a spineless and worthless person. He did ACTIVELY save Subaru's life from the more petty knights that too Subaru's insults way too seriously. Confusion at that dialog makes sense for sure since they breeze past it and it's basically Julius trying to play the part of the bad guy despite Felix knowing better of him, all stuff not directly said or fleshed out in the anime.

I think its because the anime does not do as good as job at conveying how traumatic dying is to Subaru compared to the LN (very descriptive).

I don't think it's supposed to be a mystery. A lot of people just don't recognize it's voice for some reason. If they did, and remembered the "my daughter" thing, then it should be clear. The mystery isn't who it is, but why it did that.

Re: Zero the only anime to give an accurate representation of what a hikikomori would act like if they suddenly got sent to another world, especially how he acts towards women. He's not gonna be suddenly perfect, he's been a shut in for ages, he's gonna have difficulty interacting and he's gonna have some weird views

I wouldn't think to call Subaru toxic especially to our worlds standards. he isn't stopping her from talking to friends or saying you can't talk to boys (I mean he does get jealous when Emilia is around other boys besides the clown, I will admit that.) Emilia will still defo DIE REPEATEDLY without Subaru's return by death ability simply due to her being a half elf. Subaru is certainly being stubborn and really dumb at this point but its pretty certain he will eventually hit enough walls have some sort of breakdown and/or epiphany and realise he is being stupid. But, I don't feel comparing him to toxic lovers/partners from our world when Emilia's life is actually and continues being in constant danger is the right word for it. at least to me anyway maybe it is fuck if I know.

Subaru’s insane ego and unhealthy image of Emilia is what makes their relationship toxic. He keeps refusing to listen or understand her thinking that he NEEDS to be the one to save her. Not because she asked him to save her or because he genuinely has her best interests in mind, but because he thinks that acting the hero and solving all her problems single-handedly will make her see him in the same way he sees her.

Im pretty certain i can count on my hands the number of protagonist in Shonen anime that are in Subarus depth. Luffy, Tanjirō, Naruto ( just barely ), and maybe Deku ( but he also just be green Naruto lol ) Like take Goku a Icon protagonist, but the hole point is how 2D his personality is. Its not like you need a deep MC to have great action based story, in fact its pretty easily comes in the way of the action. ( and yes, Luffy is a deep character, he just seems 2D but even tho his solutions are punch harder, the reasonings he takes are way deeper than just "I want to" Like Goku dose lots of stupid selfish shit becuse he likes to fight. But Luffy wants to be a leaders and time and time again dose what he has to do for those around him, even when they haven't realized its the right thing to do. Thats deep reasoning, hidden behind a simple philosophy )
