Stem cells being the solution to the disease that Bonney has is such a genus move. The One Piece world is very mixed when it comes to progress. Some countries are extremely behind in progress of knowledge and tech while others are ahead. Some Islands are only ahead in one area and not others. Stem cells are something only discovered in the LATE 19th century, and it took from around the 1950s to the 1990s find what could truly be done with them, and we are STILL discovering new ways to use stem cell technology to this day. From cancer to genetic diseases we are making progress bit by bit. With Vegapunk being a genus who knows more than anyone about bio-tech he definitely would know stem cells even if he hadn't tried doing it before with how much he experiments with cloning and blood he would definitely know about them and what their capable of. Issue is even if he spread the news about this many countries wouldn't have the tech to even try to approach the research in any real capacity.

Yeah, Kuma's backstory is in my opinion the saddest and most messed up so far. And we've had some really messed up backstories. In the end though it just makes us love him that much more.

Oda was on his sadistic streak during this backstory. It's like all the others were just warm-ups, and this is when he decided to truly just use every trick he had, and he just did not hold any punches. Even showing the joy to get your hopes up before twisting the knife and then throwing salt in the wound. Also, Kuma is unequivocally the best dad in One Piece, and quite possibly the best man in One Piece, period. Dude is an absolute saint, and an absolute beast.

if i remember correctly the disease in the manga turns the whole body brittle before crumbling to dust. Bonney wasnt born normally she was just what was left after ginny disappeared. Also there is official art of Iva if they had the dragon devil fruit and it is funny

Kuma's story is... very personal and reflective for me, in a lot of ways, so it hits me like a truck with rocket engines attached lmao. Take your time through it, don't feel like you have to strong arm yourself when it kicks your teeth in. I think most One Piece fans agree this is far and away the most difficult part of the journey yet, emotionally anyway.

For men who does anything to make their love smile like Senor pink, To Flamboyant men like Franky who build a community for the lost men of the world. And now to Kuma. The man with every right to be a villain but ultimately stood up when it matters. Fuck Oda is a genius with his characters

I think that when you catch up to the current episodes, you might want to put One Piece on the backburner so that you can have more episodes to watch later, the current arc after Egghead is that that far away from the current anime, so I feel like even the anime might take a break so that Oda can feel less pressured to stay ahead of the anime, like what happened at Dressrosa

Kuma is really just the fucking best. He's a man that, at every single difficult crossroads in his checkered life, chooses to do the right thing, the hard thing. Seeing this dude many hundreds of episodes ago with his big dumb bible in Thriller Bark, I never could have guessed how incredible of a character he would be. Oda was really cooking with this one.

I think the idea was that Kuma knew Luffy was Dragon's son, and that was why he spared at Thriller Bark and Shabody. I don't think Nika was a solidified idea then.

I regret every negative thought and feeling I had towards Kuma pre-time skip. There's no way I could have known just how shit his life was, but still. It doesn't excuse a lot of the stuff he did, but the hate just isn't there for him anymore.

wow... kumas story is really just how one nice man gets screwd over at every step of his life and then finally turned into machine... given the Japanese work culture I get a feeling i get where Oda got his inspiration for Kuma story from..at least some of it. To think Kuma was a character we saw before Sky Piea, but even after Along Park we knew of the 7 warlords, the 4 Emporer might have been a add on, but Kuma seems to be one of the backbone characters of One Piece, and the more you see the more you really understand.
