alex duskfall

I love the fight between John and the Dora. His face when his captain america superiority is thrown lol

walt disney

falcon is supposed to have been a guy who helped veterans with ptsd and he decides to walk up to one who is clearly going through stuff and hits him with a "give me the shield" like that wouldn't cause a crash out

terrell thaddies

It's something that needed to happen and I love it. John wasn't in at any position to listen to reason at that point of time. No matter what Sam said, it would still lead into the same outcome

terrell thaddies

Literally one of my favorite moments of this show. They checked his ass real quick🤣🤣🤣. The funny part is that Bucky was letting it happen too🤣

Yovan_Night (Purple Rain🟪)

That was a W get back moment for John. Karli killed Lamar so John killed other dude (I forgot his name).

Alex the baller88

He’s trying to remove his weapons so he can safely talk to him

Legionistuc

This show forgets that rhodey became iron patriot and wore a red white and blue suit.

walt disney

That’s true but I’d be a bit more tactful about it

RF

Damn, who knew that the guy who arrested, threaten, and put his hands on refugees a few episodes ago out of frustration would brutally execute a criminal in public in a fit of rage. And then be easily swayed by a villain in like a 10 second conversation after being rejected by the public. And after a conversation with his best friend about how power reveals, not corrupts and all that. Something something good is a thing you do, not a thing you are.

Golden Witch Beatrice

Hopefully after the finale Alicia squeezes in “Agatha All Along” before spooky month is over 🙏🏾

pocofeliz

John truly is the best character in this show wish he got the leader instead, also its sad they basically erased all his military service

ExcelDamage

i get this sick feeling in my stomach every time that final fight starts in episode 4, knowing how the episode ends

Capt.J0HN

What was especially a great but tragic back story for Isaiah bradley, is that he busted his buddies out from enemy camp JUST like steve did in the first Captain Americas movie, but bradley didnt got the recognition like he did, even worse and the opposite.

MarakamiSG

Sam calling out anyone's body habits is so funny.

Narluga

#justiceforJohn

Narluga

nah but to be honest Ayo going for the kill against john and his parnter is crazy. that was center mass with a vimbrium spear. i get it was there cool moment but are they not worried about a international incident. Wakanda is already not on good terms with the rest of the UN. idk maybe im reading to deep but man it feels like they are just wanting trouble.

Flight

It is fucked that John got a dishonorable discharge for killing a literal super soldier terrorist who just tried to assassinate him. He was the one literally holding john down for karli to kill him. He ended up running away only to say "it wasn't me" when john caught up to him, not "I surrender" or "I give up". Lets remember that john is not only a soldier, but a vet of america's anti-insurgent wars, meaning he has definitely had experiences with how it would normally be impossible to make the right choice. But lets remember that the guy was a Super Soldier who was apart of an organization that just bombed civilians with the biggest thing is We know HE Specifically reinforced karli's radical actions and reassured her that they were in the right.

Narluga

absolutely! Terrorist down! though optics are really bad, my guy john is cooked

Kevin Bartelen

At the beginning of episode 4 when they are discussing the serum corrupting people and it's pointed out it didn't corrupt Steve, it always irks me that nobody defends Bucky. He wasn't corrupted by it either, only thing that messed him up was some Hydra brainwashing. And I know why they don't bring up Issah in front of Zemo, but he clearly wasn't corrupted either.

Narluga

oh noooo the crash out john!!! hes roided up nooo

Raskilion

I think that part of the allure of the creative industry or the entertainment industry is that it feels so welcoming to all sorts of different groups and minorities and mindsets, because it encourages individualism and self expression while still being fun to work in, which is great because makes it easier to learn the experiences and challenges of others that I probably won't experience otherwise.

M

What makes the story even sadder is he literally did the same thing Steve did and got punished for it

Jonathan Bottomley

I resonate with that Isaiah tangent a lot. Have had that same convo with my dad. As humans, we should uplift each other even through differences. It's a shame so many people lose those lessons we're taught growing up.

2026-10-24 13:00 Say what you will about Zemo, but one thing he isn't is a hypocrite which he proved when he smashed those vials of super soldier serum
2025-10-18 02:53

Fuse

They don’t bring up Bucky because he’s a special case, when he was given the serum he was brainwashed so nobody knows what the Bucky would be like if he wasn’t brainwashed when given the Serum, there’s a lot that could have happened that could have messed with the parts of the serum that exaggerate people’s personality traits when he was brainwashed, it’s even possible that the brainwashing canceled out the serum’s effects and never changed anything about Bucky’s personality

Tom Nguyen

He did lied to his partner's parent, but how would telling them the true better? That their son's killer are still running around wreaking havoc? at least this way, he can give them some peace of mind.

Brayden Hadley

It would actually be interesting If we could get a prequel movie about Isaiah Bradley. I would kill to see that.

Matthew Newton

I don't think it forgets. Sure, it wasn't mentioned, but it's a lot different for it to be Captain America. People wouldn't be as upset at a black superhero as they would about a black Captain America. You have to remember that Captain America is the worlds' oldest super hero, in universe, and has been the symbol of America for 80 years. Making him a black man would piss off a lot more people than War Machine/Iron Patriot existing It's a bit of a sensitive topic so I hope you understand what I mean! Sorry if it doesn't come off clearly

Brian of South-Ebonscar

The problem of John killing the TERRORIST is that he didn't look cool while doing so.

Game Dragon

I was going to say this too. He definitely told a lie, and it definitely weighed on him, but I think it was for the better.

terrell thaddies

But that's not the point. If u were a regular soldier, it would still be bad but it's alot worse for John cuz he was carrying Steve's legacy and killed a surrendering enemy in the public eye They did the same thing with Black Panther when T'Challa was going to kill Klaw in the public eye and they were recording. It wasn't until that Okoye and Nakia told him to not do that in front of the public cuz it will look so bad for Wakanda While the crashout was reasonable, he shouldn't have done that to the shield. The parallels between John and Steve are throughout the show Steve would never do what John did. Better yet when Bucky was "dead" in the 1st Cap movie, Steve had every right to kill Zola but he didn't. Steve is what America wants to be, while John is what America actually is

Y0GE

no the problem is optics. in that moment you have to remeber 1 john was awol and had taken an iligal super soldier syrum and the only witness that he killed a terrorist was him self. a comprimised agent who went against orders got his team mate killed and murdered what everyone thinks is an innocant person. you have to remeber not everything we know as the viewer the characters dont know as well

Dorran

As they said in Endgame. Captain America has America's ass. John Walker... is just... America's asshole. Look, don't get me wrong. He was telling the honest truth when he said that he was what they made him. Right down to the conditioning to do what he was told to serve the mission, no matter how many enemies he had to destroy in the process. That's the awful thing about modern warfare. Yes, Steve fought in World War 2, but Steve was absolutely atypical of soldiers. The only reason that the military tolerated him was that, one, he was inspiring to the troops and the public, and two, he pulled a rogue operation that showed them how little power they had to stop him. Steve wasn't a soldier in any of the traditional senses... he was a warrior. Not that I'm saying that soldiers are bad people, but the expectations and conditioning on them are brutal. There is nothing dulce or decorum about killing and dying for the power of others... and, more and more, that's even true about stepping into that domain.

Dorran

That's... one of the things that I respect about the MCU's Zemo. He is true to his convictions.

Agent J

We've all seen heroes or characters in similiar situation as John. The only differance is that in the deciding moment John had no one to stop him. T'Challa had Nakia and Okoye to stop him from killing Klaw infront of everyone. John just lost his best friend, his comrade. Anyone in his place would do the same. You can't think rationally after such loss, with or without the serum "corrupting you". It sucks that John had to take the fall

Kyutoko

"Shove it up ya bum, Jonathan!" absolutely had me rolling.

MegaMert

And the problem was that it was a situation where he didn't have to kill, he clearly had an enough of an upper hand to just incapacitate. Furthermore the problem was him not acknowledging it was a mistake to kill and then resisting turning himself in when Bucky and Sam confronted him.

Flight

3 things, 1 I never said John should be Cap, but I did say it was absolutely fucked for them to remove the pension and benefits he EARNED for doing what a soldier does. 2 What surrender? He ran until the last second and to repeat what I said in my comment: "only to say "it wasn't me" when john caught up to him, not "I surrender" or "I give up". " That was him pleading for his life not actively surrendering. That is very important to the context because of point 3. 3: The fact that they're super soldiers should is enough to require active surrender for one very simple reason: a soldier was killed with a single punch to the chest. The entire assassination fight showed just how dangerous the serum is. Remember john casually bending a pipe or sending a supe through a door and down a flight of stairs in one blow? It's fine that he lost the title but it's fucked how they took everything else from him.

Kyutoko

The Shield training montage is the ONLY thing I remember from when I first watched this years ago, it is forever burned into my brain as "Sam is the fucking best" A GOOD BEAN!

Adam

actually the other way around. Steve WAS a soldier, the one that's talked about that protects. Every one is a "Warrior," they WANT to fight.

Purist

This is why I enjoy watching you, you just freaking get it. Meritocracy, all the way! Though, if it's not DEI, I don't know how all interactive media collectively jumped off a cliff around 2019-20. Cause I can understand one or two, but ALL Western AAA games, movies, TV shows and even books to an extent, kinda either suck or are just meh. And also, kinda gets hard to stay positive when it feels like literally everyone online calls me, a straight white man, evil for just existing. Sorry if this is inappropriate, I figured since you were sharing... I don't know. Glad you're enjoying yourself, you're cool

2026-10-07 05:00 I’m glad Alicia is having so much fun with the episodes. I’m annoyed with choices they made that feel like plot holes for me. Maybe it was bad decisions like how Sam didn’t get payed also annoyed me The ones at the top of my head are why the Dora Milaje attack Walker when first entering the room, was the goal to kill them or to threaten them? And why try to kill Walked for touching her shoulder, I can understand if she slapped his hand and he attacked but SHE for barely any reason. And I don’t think the reason should be “He touched my shoulder so I’m going to kill him” I thought Karli’s plan was to kill Walker. The whole thing she set up was for someone to die with how they had knifes and weapons. So why is everyone shocked that someone died, it wasn’t even an accident where it’s out of everyone’s control. If it was pure fist fighting and said the goal was to capture then it would make sense they would be shocked to kill one of them. With Walker, I agree he shouldn’t be Captain America but he is still a person, so I feel if Sam is the kid of person to help Karlie, then he should at least TRY to properly talk to Walker like he did with Karlie. He clearly has PTSD and just lost his best friend. Walker clearly doesn’t have bad intentions and wants to do the right thing, it feels like Sam created a situation that got Walker more aggressive with showing how you just wanted to take the shield and put him down. And last… I don’t support or like what happened to the guy that got killed by the shield but this same guy was in on a plan to kill Walker and got himself killed instead. His surrender seemed to late because he did have opportunities before and though I don’t know how it would have turned out, but he surrendered at the very end when Walker was already about to kill. I don’t support Walkers actions or think he should be Captain American but I can’t call it murder, just a kill If anyone thinks these aren’t loopholes then let me know why because I could be overlooking something

PrivateXimmy

It was killing an enemy who had already surrendered, off of American soil. That’s the kind of stuff that fueled the accords in the first place.

PrivateXimmy

Though it’s funny, since he already has a far larger equalizer. A **shit ton of money**

Dr. JB (h.c.)

"If u were a regular soldier, it would still be bad" Bad publicity, maybe, but actually would be inline with a normal soldier's ROE and mission parameters in this situation. The man is a terrorist that is part of a group that has killed civilians, he showed no consideration for civilian casualties when running away (when he through the concrete at Walker he very easily could have ended up killing civilians if things were even a little different), and is considered armed and dangerous due to being a super soldier. Combine that with him not saying he is surrendering and keeping his hands in a defensive position rather than a surrendering one, and it would be quite normal for him to be killed in that situation. It is only the combination of being a super solder is subtler than having a weapon and the bad publicity that this situation is for Captain America that leads it to being anything but a normal situation.

Dr. JB (h.c.)

Not only that, but that initial spear throw when the first entered the room was aimed directly at Walker's head. If he didn't notice it coming at him and moved back then he would have absolutely been killed there. That is how the Wakandans entered that situation, with an attempted murder of John Walker for no reason.

Dr. JB (h.c.)

Agreed. Clipped Coin's breakdown on YouTube is actually a very good watch that shows that, maybe not as Captain America, but as a soldier that Walker didn't actually do anything wrong here. One could argue that Captain America should be held to a different standard, but the way he gets treated is quite absurd and extreme.

nervouspirate

Isaiah Bradley’s story comes from a Captain America book called Truth: Red, White, and Black and is based on the real life story of the Tuskegee Experiments. If I had a nickel for every time a piece of superhero media taught me about an atrocity committed against African Americans that I should have learned about in school, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

Dr. JB (h.c.)

What John Walker did wasn't murder. Clipped Coin has a great breakdown on YouTube about this. It might not have been what Captain America should have done, but it absolutely is inline with what is likely his ROE and mission parameters.

Kalinka

john acted very human and understandable, plus that whole group was percieved as highly dangerous criminals, at least by the officials. many other heroes had such moments too, they were just lucky enough to have someone get there in time. he got very little understanding in return. Plus he's supposedly "corrupted", making it even more sad and less his fault. Him just wanting to be heard by the senat, also very sad and understandable. AFter a life of exemplary service he doesn't even get a minimum of respect, because he killed one criminal super-soldier. Him lying to bring the family of his friend peace is also sweet. Knowing that the real killer is still out there can haunt affected families in such situations.

Damon

If you do see this Alicia, I really enjoy your talks like in episode 5 about subjects like race, DEI, and BLM since I don’t exactly understand them from an outside perspective (I’m mix of white and mexican who grew up not knowing racism was even a thing until history class) but enjoy listening about them like a youngster listening to an Aunty about their stories to help them in their young adult lives For the misconceptions I had before, thanks for the information about the DEI since I never knew much about it except for what I kept hearing which was that it hired people based on race and disliked it but happy I know what DEI is suppose to be. The Black Lives Matter thing surprised me because I knew was about the looting and arson but hearing how it had some good effects was sweet to hear from your story.

PrivateXimmy

Yeah, there will always be opportunists who take advantage of social unrest, that much is not new. But I don’t think that should fully distract from what the countries conversation was all about.

Verdigree

The MCU has a villian problem, where like Karli, Thanos, Killmonger, and the Kree lady from The Marvels are never allowed to be just RIGHT, so their radical philosophy always has to be undercut with meaningless evil, which is kinda a bummer

Hugh Mungus

Thanos was never undercut with meaningless evil, he was just completely ruthless about his goal. Killmonger and Karli weren't right in any sense of the word, they were just pieces of shit.

Dave the Sasquatch

I appreciate both Alicia's race and gender because her commentary through those lenses gives me a perspective that I, as a Saltine-American, would never have gotten on my own. This was especially relevant during the Ms. Marvel watch, I learned a lot about central Asian Muslim culture and had a great time doing it! So I'm really grateful for everything Alicia does and is. Also, racism is stupid. More cultural diversity means more food!!!

Hugo Andres Lozano

When Bucky dropped the shield next to Sam I don’t think the intended message was “you’re the only one who should carry the shield.” I think it was more geared towards “look at what happened because of you, you refused to pick up the shield and because of that there is blood on it now, the symbol that was captain America is now stained by the actions of a man who didn’t deserve the mantle, because you refused to carry the shield someone unfit do so, picked it up and sullied its image. Just based on the whole set up of the scene and the very clear focus put on the bloodied shield, combined with buck’s facial expression, in my opinion really drove that message home, I could be reading the scene wrong however, so don’t take my word at face value I guess.

Levi Price

Turkish delights are gross

PrivateXimmy

Thanos was a malignant narcissist, enforcing his will on a galaxy that did not want it. Nobody elected his purple chin to do that snozz

Y0GE

honestly alecia you are correct i watch you because you are the funny lady who cries alot but i also really apreaciate your takes and opinions. it was you who actually enlightened me to thinks like the wage gap exsisting, the injustice people of colour face in the west and now DEI. Im a white guy who has lived in a more quite town in the UK so my exspirence with all this is what i hear second hand or see on social media so i dont trly know what is real or just racists being racist. but hearing it from you as someone who has faced these issues and speakes about them actually means alot and i respect you even more.

Beryl Strifeclaw

Episode 4 and 5 are my favorites from this show. I had been waiting for when you got to the part with Isaiah the most. Hearing your story about your old job...well I'm glad you're in a better place now. For Sam and Bucky, my favorite moment is when they're on the boat and then training with the shield. Its probably the first time they've really worked together minus taking the shield back, but that always felt a little wrong to me. For John, its clear he had a moment of rage and lost control. The person who 'would' have had his back to make sure he didn't do something he'd regret just got killed. He's having a grief filled crash out that's only made worse by the serum since he hasn't had a chance to really get used to how he has changed. Sam could have asked John to go report in, and took the shield back later since Walker would have been relieved of it anyways. And these episodes are where I really grew respect for Zemo, and I look forward to watching reactors when he gets the serum. They usually think he'll take it, but he resists the temptation. Looking at his overall arc tells an interesting story...he didn't try to escape his first prison till he had a mission. He told Bucky about the memorial of Sokovia already, and just waited there to accept his fate. He'd smashed the vials and did what he broke out of prison for in the first place. He didn't have anything else except killing the other super soldiers. Could he have gone on the run to be a bigger problem down the line or killed the last Flag Smashers? Potentially, but his pursuers would have caught up eventually so he didn't try. Maybe because then he'd never get to see the memorial. Another thing I noticed is that in Civil War he originally tried to take his own life after he had his revenge, but he didn't try to end himself this time. He accepted that Bucky might have shot him and just nodded. And when they came to take him to prison he again just accepted his fate. In my head, he felt guilty about what he did to T'challa father and accepted his final words and judgement to him. I'm glad you did these two episodes together, since I find 6 a bit disappointing, but hopefully you still enjoy it.

PrivateXimmy

There’s def multiple ways to interpret it!

Esra

I agree with you on Karli being ruined, but Killmonger wasn't senselessly undercut, he was acting awful from the get go, and nearly everything he did was evil. He had a just reasoning, but he exclusively did evil acts. Karli had a just reasoning, and exclusively did *illegal* acts. Until she started randomly blowing people up and aiming to kill. Thanos had a morally grandstanding reason, but was obviously always wrong, and there is no way to twist anything of what he did as moral or just at all. The whole point with Killmonger was that Wakanda and its previous kings were all wrong, and that ignoring the world was a terrible idea. But Killmonger just wanted a war, he just wanted revenge, he didn't want equality, he didn't want freedom for his people, he wanted everyone else to suffer like he did and for him to be the one on top. He wasn't poorly written or undercut, he was evil all the way through, and even if he took back half the actions he did, he'd still be a villain. His justification for his WHY was righteous, but his actual actions and end goal were malicious the entire time.

PurportedGrey

You talking about the I AM CAPTIAN AMERICA scene being sold by Wyatt, really does reinforce my belief that Wyatt Russel needs more roles, the guy really is a good actor!

Lance Ivy

i forgot the the cahr played by gsp is alo named gorge

Silver Screen

Man, John Walker was done so dirty in this show. He was a legitimately good guy at the start, just trying to do his best and live up to the legacy set up. And then the writers just want us to think he was nevr worth it to begin with.

PandaIzumi

Problem is John wasn't following any orders or on a specific mission. He was basically awol/off the grid when he did what he did because he was trying to beat Sam and Bucky to them. Unlike Sam and Bucky, everything he does has to be cleared through the government first as he's representing the government in another country. Edit: There's also him secretly taking the serum himself without the government's input on that. It's very likely they would have wanted him to turn it in so they could run tests and such/try to duplicate it themselves.

Flight

Was he AWOL? cause he originally went with a team to stop the flag smashers, got Sam and Bucky out of jail, and tracked them down through the military to find Sam's wings. That's a lot of string to pull without permission. And let's stop ignoring that the situation was a literal assassination attempt where the only thing that the smashers didn't intend was Lamar dying in John's place. As to the serum point that's fair, but let

Flight

*accidentally hit enter* but let's chalk that up to marvel's gov continuing to piss off their defenders.

JansWichtig

It’s just so damn sad how real Isaiah’s words have become. Without spoiling the plot of Captain America 4, but even before its release—when it was announced that the actor who plays Falcon would take on the role of Captain America—people started trashing not only the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series but also the movie, both publicly and through IMDB ratings. And that’s exactly what Isaiah said: will people truly understand or even accept a Black Captain America? You see it every time a movie comes out that represents people of color, or when the hero isn’t the typical white cis dude, but instead a woman or—like in the What If…? series—a Native American. People online just lose their minds and start looking for any reason to trash the show or the actor playing the character, simply because they don’t fit the stereotypical American image. Which is completely absurd when you think about it, because Black people are literally part of the American identity itself.

Eric

Nah, Sam and Bucky were bad for what they did to John. Poor dude was clearlly overwhelmed by the responsabillity of being cap, was excitable from the serum, in devastated for the lost of a friend so close that it should be called a brother and in shock for what he had done, and both just walk in like "yeah bro, give me the shield, you don't deserve it" like DUDE, i know he can't have it, but you have to walk literally MINUTES after all that while he's having a breakdown and be like that? Obviouslly he was gonna snap. Like, I know they are not the guys with more emotional inteligence in the world, but stil wtf

N00B

Good movies with representation such as "Get Out" or "Nope" are hailed as great because they're good movies that still showcase representation, whereas movies like Ghostbusters 2016 and the Star Wars sequels are simply bad movies that use their representation to undermine genuine criticisms as simply bigotry. The issue with Sam being Captain America goes far past the color of his skin, most notably the fact that its not progressive at all since he's abandoning his unique identity as Falcon, a fully-fledged superhero of color, to take on a mantle previously belonging to a cis white man.

N00B

No, he didn't surrender. He was throwing CEMENT BINS at him with SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH! He is by all means still armed, dangerous and very much not in a position to surrender. If a maniac took a machine gun, murdered someone, kept shooting it aimlessly as he ran away and then, whil e still holding the weapon, tried to "surrender", you'd be an idiot for letting that slide.

Michael

I don’t understand how people don’t realize that blaming bad movies having bad reception from audiences on racism is literally only doing the exact opposite of their goal.

Darc Hart94

John walker is the best character in the show bar none. And it is wild that the characters keep giving him shit for treating the literal evil terrorists like evil terrorists

Darc Hart94

I don't hate him as captain america because hes black. I hate him as captain america because he's shit at it

Darc Hart94

There is a significant difference between a hire exclusively for DEI, and hiring someone actually qualified for the job that just happens to fit in for DEI. It just kind of sucks that so many people that suck at their jobs are noticeably only from the former

Darc Hart94

Let's also not ignore the stupidity of the wakandans for a minute. That woman threw that spear with 0 hesitation If Walker had not noticed and stepped back from the spear throw he would have been dead. A wakandan warrior killing captain america, in a foreign country, while he was trying to apprehend a recently escaped terrorist who bombed the UN. The ENTIRE WORLD would likely turn on Wakanda for that.
