I always really loved that the cool teens were legit chill people. They're not mean or dangerous trouble makers, they're fun and a little mischievous but they're sweet and supportive for Steven. Its a refreshing depiction of the cool kid trope.

It's been an absolute treat getting to go through S.U. again with Alicia. She gets truly invested with the characters and world to the point it's almost like I'm back with everyone week to week (or sometimes MUCH longer waits) theorizing and worrying for everyone.

I love how the freeze-frames of that selfie montage at the very end show each Cool Kid paired up with the Gem that they're clearly supposed to visually and stylistically mirror. (Buck = Garnet, Sour Cream = Pearl etc)

It's not only cute but it gives some looks into the characters old and new. Was released a lil before season 2 aired I believe so it is not spoilery for what is to come.

Fun fact: i think from now on whenever you see Garnet's visor, it'll indicate whether Ruby or Sapphire is the more dominant part of her at any given point based on how much of it is red or blue, and if i remember correctly this is consistent for the rest of the show

I sure hope all that isn't thrown away at some point for a forced narrative!.... NAAAH no way, no one would do that..

SU Future is the narrative being brought to it's natural conclusion, I don't get why people get so salty about it. Steven had to grow up INCREDIBLY fast and shouldered peoples' responsibilities repeatedly. Kids like that are practically ticking time bombs, this series has never shied away from touching upon mental health. It's not like it doesn't still have a happy ending.

And you are the reason those people break. SUF is stable people with no concept telling less stable people they are monsters who will break and hurt others which is what causes them to do it. Even after everything throughout the entire series he stayed himself, he stayed in character. Then came a low quality sequel to push a stupid, harmful and offensive allegory that would only hurt victims completely assassinating his character in every way. I can sum it up in one point, not everyone who goes through trauma becomes controlling, resentment filled murders and Steven definitely shouldn't have become one cause it is the complete opposite of his character throughout the series.

Nah this thread should be nuked for spoilers anyway, but these takes are genuinely ridiculous on future lmao. Steven is absolutely not a controlling, resentment-filled murderer; he's a kid who spent his entire childhood enduring trauma after trauma, while attempting to save everyone around him in the process. It makes perfect sense for a character like that to find themselves aimless and angry when nobody needs him to save them anymore. Late adolescents tweak out over way, way less serious things as they grow into adulthood, but Steven is burdened with unbelievable stress and uncertainty in his life and has literal magic powers beyond human understanding. If your takeaway of the SUF ethos is "everybody who goes through trauma becomes awful", I legit think you have a media comprehension issue. There are issues with that season, but come on now.

kids who got no help or work through their issues in a healthy way with a support group are ticking time bombs, especially with well... can't say it till she gets there. It has never shed away from touching upon mental health but you cant just back peddle for the sake of a new narrative and pretend all of this didn't happen.

it had its good moments, but the writing was poor, narrative was forced, wasted tons of potential. just became another story of Rebecca making her cartoon into her own therapy show.

yeah I get the idea of the theme they wanted to go with for SUF but there are plenty more episodes ahead that show his growth as a person even tho he is a young child. The best excuse people can make is "he is the only one of his kind" to explain his "unique" behavior and issues.
