Noah Benner

This is going to be absolutely cinema

Grandmasta

this'll be a fun watch. my little sis used to be obsessed with this movie and would quote it all the time.

bc@t

Celebrating the approaching holidays with a Halloween movie. Truly peak decision making. In the spirit of The Nightmare Before Christmas surely. Never change Alicia.

StorytellerDave

As someone who grew up in Transylvania I still have no fuckin idea why Dracula is associated with us...guessing it's Bram Stoker's fault for doing 0 research when writing his book.

BartonBelladonna

heh heh heh, if you're gonna do all the movies, I think you will love them all. 1 and 2 are freaking incredible. 3 is pretty decent. and 4 is.....good. it's not a great ending to the quadrilogy like Kung Fu Panda, but it's at least decent enough for a family movie series.

Shoopdawoop

i cant wait for 3. has an absolute BANGER of a song, iykyk

Nick

watched the first one a loooong time ago and only kinda remember the extreamly wild memes that came from it a few years later

Alexander deLongchamps

These movies are really fun and Mavis (quite fittingly) resurrected The Goth girlfriend trend

Kyutoko

I was ALWAYS the bottom in the Chicken Fight. Ugh, so discriminatory... it's like nobody else could have a six three, three hundred and twenty pound mountain ride their shoulders. XDDDDDDD

Arcane.Joe

12 Days of Christmas because traditionally Christmas was celebrated by Christians as a 12 day festival beginning on Dec 25th and lasting until Jan. 5. This practice has completely disappeared in modern times however as Christmas has celebrated by more people outside of Christianity and for other reasons than the birth of Christ.

Okarun

Never thought I'd see the day

DrOverbuild8363

This is a classic. The Sequels are good too, just not as good. Like other films with multiple sequels the 1st is the best, and the rest slowly loose what made the first so good. Like Ice Age and Despicable Me.

Kyutoko

You can HEAR the Lonely Island influence as Andy sings the ending theme. It's just... it's physical.

Not Six Raccoons in a Trench Coat

In the book, Dracula is based in Transylvania. Contrary to popular beleif there's actually no evidence that Dracula is based on Vlad the impaler. That idea comes from a book about Bram Stoker published in 1972, but the claims it makes have been heavily contested by scholars. It's been suggested that Stoker picked the name because he thought it was romanian for "Devil".

Faroth

Gotta love the whole "how to kill a vampire stuff" Did you die if someone stab you in the chest with a wood stake? -well... wont you? Is it true the garlic stuff? - yeah, we are alergic What about sunlight? - has a reaction in the skin, far as i know there are humans with that illness too And is true you cant enter a house uninvited? - well, that would be really impolite, isnt?

Wil DeYoung

WAS NO ONE GOING TO TELL ME THAT GENDY TARTAKOVSKY WAS THE DIRECTOR FOR HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA. How the fuck has it been a decade and I only just found that out

Decoy061

You know, I forgot Genndy Tartokovsky made this movie, but it makes TOTAL sense looking at all the character designs! Now I want her to check out his other works more than ever before!

Decoy061

For The Stake in the Heart one , I would follow up with: "So, is it one of the ONLY ways to kill you?"

Aliulo

Emily Gerard writing about Transylvanian folklore and the nosferatu, followed by Bram Stoker.

Jaffar Black Fang

25 days of christmas 13 nights of halloween 14 nights of love for Valentines day

leviathan_13

I remember that I was a bit disappointed and annoyed with this movie because I don't know if it was the marketing, but I kind of assumed that the two kids would be the protagonists. And sure, they are, but Dracula basically takes over the whole movie (like the control freak he is XD). I like him too, but that discrepancy with the expectation annoyed me.

StorytellerDave

Well, yeah Dracule is a common Romanian insult and it does mean devil, but what does that have to do with vampires?

Sam Marsh

Remember kids, it's never okay to sexually harass women, especially skeletons.

Ryan Bradley

Hotel Transylvania (2012) Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018) Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022)

Eliteguard99

The stake to the heart joke always kills me.

BakaSama

I haven’t watched this since it came out and it’s better than I remember. I think the toilet humor in the first half just really turned me off, but being older now I can let it slide and just enjoy the rest of the movie.

Trevor Appel

1:04:10 I still think it's sweet that Martha was made to look like Adam Sandler's irl wife.

Rain

Oooh yay I just asked about this on stream the other day, super happy to see you watching this so soon. I will be coming back to watch this as soon as i finish mha and gachi.

Artemis

That stacked cast is the pretty normal cast of an Adam Sandler movie

Lexy

If you ever need to know if a film has stingers, check out AfterCredits . com . Will tell you if it has a mid credit and after credit stinger, plus hides what the scenes actually are unless you reveal them.

Jackie Rollins

Appparently it was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky who did Samuai jack and Dexters Lab

Ali

so happy you reacted to this, grew up on this shit straight peak

Not Six Raccoons in a Trench Coat

Referring to evil things as devils or demons has always been a common practice, so an author calling his evil supernatural character after an obscure name for devil is not that strange. They love doing that kind of stuff.

StorytellerDave

Okay, but if the guy is meant to be from that area then it's not an obscure name. It's like calling yourself after an insult. It's basically saying: - Hi, my name is SHITHEAD because everyone keeps saying that to me...

TSP247

its funny when this got released I kind of had a crush on mavis and most characters of selena Gomez, same goes for Hilary Duff and her characters.

Chamoun101

Man, I can relate to that. But what can we do, boys are week towards Goth characters. • Mavis • Raven/Blackfier(Teen Titans) • Shego • Stocking • Ember (Danny Phantom) • Gwen/Crimson (Total Drama Island) Ect.

Michael

Western version of Rosario + Vampire.

Demon

Same bro I had such a crush on Mavis when I first saw this movie way back

Lance Ivy

its a bad joke cause charolett dies in everyu story

Ink Magus

This movie is better than it has any right to be. I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan, but he really crushes this role. My daughter was obsessed with this movie about ayear ago so I had to watch it over and over, and it grew on me. The sequels are pretty good too.

Kyutoko

iirc the "12 Days of Christmas" are the days between Christmas Day and January 6th, the Epiphany, which marks the end of Christmas. But uh... J6 kinda means something else where I live now so... yeah...

Royce

OMFG! as a One Piece fan, it just occurred to me that Franky is based off of Frankenstein. the fact that Franky in One Piece assembled himself from scrap that turned him into cyborg would very much fit into the narrative. i noticed this because Dracula called Frankenstein "Frankie" and it sounded so familiar. Jesus Christ 12 year. 12 years I've been a One piece fan and i just now realized this WTF is wrong with me

Blade Martin

"haha Jonathan, you are banging my daughter!"

HexorSedon

1st time I actually watched it fully was enjoyable mhm mhm

i'm a human being

i love how bro at 56:34 bro is like What is happening and Alicia is just like bonding!! you guys are such a lovely dynamic to see movies to .. hashtag friendship is magic!!!

Aliulo

It doesn't have anything to do with vampires *directly*, but it is related to Vlad the Impaler. His father got the title 'Dracul' from his membership in the Order of the Dragon, and in turn Vlad (and his brothers, apparently) got the title 'Dracula/Drăculea'. Bram Stoker was the one that associated him with vampirism. As for why the word means devil, but is being associated with dragons, is because the Latin origin of the word is 'draco' which just means dragon. Why it changed to devil is (by my guess) taboo word avoidance. Also, Satan is apparently described as a dragon in the Book of Revelation, so that might have something to do with it.

Michael

HOLY SHIT WHAT A CALLBACK. Man I watched that show as a preteen when I was first exploring Youtube. It was fun. Would I say it was good......? No.
