I love the Bonney and Luffy duo. I really hope it lasts beyond the Egghead arc. I also love everything about the Drums of Liberation scene. The drums still get me hyped and the giants dancing and Bonney’s flashback were just icing.

So funny thing with the skypeia fire dance, that's one of Oda's favourite panels in the manga. In fact a lot of skypeia seems to have some foreshadowing like Luffy's shadow from the sky and the small mention of a sun god

I'm really glad that Oda didn't make Bonney being able to go Gear 5 just like Luffy feel like a Mary Sue. No, instead he made us love her, understand her powers enough to understand how and why its possible, gave us a reason to want her to go Gear 5 alongside Luffy, and just made it fun without adding any Boy vs Girl drama or politics. And the way it was animated made it even better. I really hope we get more Bonney as JoyGirl.

??? no it was not, it was origanaly intended to end when skypiea was being published but it was no where near the planed end point. the end of onepeace has been planed since before chapter 1 and has not changed. (oda and his editers own words) As early as whisky peak (probably earlyer just no prof in the story)(crokidile was planed as a empierer type figure) the plan to end soon was already scraped/changed. skypiea and beond only mark a shift in oda thinking its ok if the story lasts for a lot longer (next fue arks intrduces in quick sucksesion the admerals, the curuption of the world goverment, the five elders, more warlords and the yonko, as all independent obsticals

the reason early onepiece is so relevent is becouse oda had not relised/desided it would take so long, he had axadentaly and intentanaly created hundreds of chapters worth of lose ends he needed to tie up leting the story flow rather than foacasing hard on end game if anything enys lobby is closer to the origanal intened ending

Oda probably already thought about giving Bonney the same form as Luffy since the first time we met her cuz, we all have already made a subconscious thought that Luffy and Bonney would have a connection, Albeit in a joking way, we all thought Luffy and Bonney would bond throught their similarities in how they shove food down their stomach and then with Luffy, he needed to be fed in order to reactivate his form everytime. Idk tell me if I'm wrong but it all feels like it was all deliberate

Based on what Saturn said when he cornered her in an earlier episode, I think her power is largely based on her imagination. When Saturn had worn her down mentally, he said something along the lines of her seeing no hope for the future, no chance of turning things around and thus having her power be useless due to the despair. Conversly, she now has a clear picture of Nika actually existing and how Nika behaves. So now she has an image of what it'd be like to be just like Nika. Not sure whether that's specifically assuming that she imagines a situation where she has actively eaten the Nika fruit. Can't even remember whether she's fully aware that it's a devil fruit. Not sure she'd even assume anything that specific in the first place, though. Perhaps she really is just thinking of a future where she's just as free and liberated as Luffy is in Nika form, and this imagination allowed her to turn into a similar form.

Emet is the Hebrew word for truth and the popularized name of the Golem of Prague in Jewish folklore. In the story the Jewish community of Prague was being accused of kidnapping children to use in blood rituals(a common antisemitic myth at the time) and were to all be expelled/killed by order of the Holy Roman Emperor; so their Rabbi created a man out of clay to protect his people and prove their innocence, bringing him to life upon inscribing “Emet”(Truth) upon his head. (in the original late 16th-century version the Golem was named Josef and had the ability to turn invisible and speak with the spirits of the dead but most modern retellings cut out that part) Following the commands of the Rabbi, Emet used his phenomenal Golem powers to prove the Jews’ innocence and protect the Prague Ghetto from antisemitic attacks; But, for reasons that usually have to do with his poor treatment and lack of humanity(getting rejected by a woman in the original), Emet eventually went out of control and started killing innocent townspeople in a murderous rampage. This forced the Rabbi to put a stop to him, erasing part of the Emet(Truth) on his forehead to change it to met(death) which instantly killed him. He would then hide the Golem’s lifeless body in the attic of the Prague Synagogue and forbid anyone except his successor Rabbis from ever going up there.

It’s not that the transformation didn’t have any drama or politics—because it’s literally the daughter of a revolutionary and a slave connecting to the culture of her father’s genocided people and learning to be free even in the face of oppression—it’s that the political themes of the transformation are so heavily baked into Bonney’s backstory and character arc that it never feels out of place.

Bonney can turn herself into anything she wants based on if she was born in a different area, to different people, or in a different way. So long as she can visualize a possible future where she would have turned out like that, she can turn into that future.
