Please tell me Gurren Lagann is today.

KasaiKouhai

I used to understand delays more, but once I’ve learned that people paid thousands of dollars to fully redeem this series it’s become quite annoying, even more so the lack of communication from Alicia, if she at least told her viewers why she’s prioritizing one series over the others, I’d at least understand and feel satisfied that we have answers at least. I still watch oshi no no and JJK from her, but I’m no longer sure if she deserves my money when she can take thousands of dollars from patrons, promise a series reaction and then…just not fulfill those promises or worse prioritize currently releasing or more popular series instead.

Ali

other redeem series also have that much money put into them, you have to understand when it comes to react channels they will always start new shows/movies etc. Not to mention all the personal stuff Alicia is dealing with currently for example her having a surgery next week so if something isn't reacted to she has many very good reasons, and another point there are so many other things that haven't been reacted to that she has said she would (daredevil, Adventure time, rezero for example), so be patient like everyone else and if you are unhappy stop paying, remember she isn't forcing you to be a patron. yes I agree with you on the being more transparent with her plans but making a schedule and what not that is just another layer of set expectations and if she cant fulfil those more people would be angry, so better left as is

slavicandsapphic

Shes not forcing anyone to be a patron, thats correct, but she’s made an expectation AS IS by havign it be that you pay for a series and she will react. Apothecary Diaries is a year late even tho she said she binge after it was finished, Daredevil was lowkey abandoned last year, theres a lot of people that are GOING to be upset. Not everyones in the discord, not everyones on twitter so theres a huge gap in communication on this Patreon. Ngl if i were her, Id just release a post like “aight im done with yall redeeming series, its me and what I WANT to do” so theres no expectation from the viewer being placed on her. Cause right now, people are definitely going to feel cheated out of their money as new series seemingly get way more priority.

KasaiKouhai

Agreed, however I would give the option of refunds to those who’ve waited years. Otherwise I think it warrants a direct report to patreon for not getting what you paid for.

KasaiKouhai

If somebody paid hundreds of dollars to get a specific series, then they are free to complain and criticize when she doesn’t finish or even start those series for years at a time. Would you not feel the same if you paid hundreds of dollars of your own money?

DYlan Pacheco

Or yall can be patient and stop whining like some spoiled bitches but ay what do I know. People havnt paid thousands lets not like people may have collectively gotten them over a thousand but not a single person here themselves paid 1000s of dollars. Everything is a choice here if they make the choice to pay extra money for a show that WILL come but doesnt have a actual time frame or schedule then that's the choice they made. Don't make that choice and then bitch about it afterwards makes yall sound like fucking children

slavicandsapphic

Saying “ok maybe people have paid over a thousand together” is not the save you think it is. This is not us saying Alicia is actively stealing the money nor is she holding anyone at gun point for the money. Thats all facts and I do agree some people are a lil whiny. But calling EVERYONE “spoiled bitches” is much more antagonistic than whats needed. All people are asking for are updates to series that they paid for and that she HAS SAID she would cover. Thats it. No one (thats reasonable) is asking her to immediately cover them or to cover them if shes genuinely not interested. I will fully take the L if she says “yeah fuck it i actually dont wanna watch Apothecary Diaries anymore, its discontinued”. But she hasnt. Its been over a year, some series have gone without an update for over two from some of the collections I saw. And again, I specifically mean for her to post an update to Patreon. I reiterate that not everyone tunes into her streams, not everyone’s in the discord, and A LOT OF PEOPLE are not on Twitter anymore. Can we not attack people who just want answers to stuff they have PAID FOR? cause i do have to stress that while its not thousands, it has been a lot (like some people spent actual hundreds) for some of those who thought they were going to get a product and havent. I feel like a lot of nuance is lost in these threads fr

KasaiKouhai

Will you say this to those who have waited 3 years for IBO? That’s a series that was redeemed for thousands, what do you have to say to those who are still waiting, you still believe she’ll eventually react to it? How long is too long?

Liliwyn

So, I want to say that I fully agree with being civil, here, but I do want to mention that you can't criticize someone on their own Patreon without being surrounded by people who are going to take offense. Which, yes, is going to include insinuating that Alicia was paid *for* something, rather than that people created expectations of something under the presumption that she *owes* such, as that, then will be *treated* about the same as insinuating theft. (Note: edited for clarification, as I wasn't really explaining myself well, and it came across as very misappropriative. My apologies for that!) I'm genuinely trying to broker a bit of an understanding, here, as I do understand your frustration (hell, I even relate), but there are still a few things that are being misunderstood, here. Patreon is, fundamentally, a donation service. It's not a paid subscription service-- it is a donation service with optional perks. A creator is not, at any point, obligated to offer any particular services for said donations. Now, most creators, by merit of generally being normal people who are compelled towards gratitude in the face of generosity, will feel *terribly guilty* for not trying to *offer* something, in return. This creates an impossible feedback loop: they offer something for what is donated, people then feel gratitude and donate more, creator then feels gratitude and tries to *do* more, et cetera. Already, you can start to see how this would spiral out of control: whereas fans simply increase in number or donate more individually, creators can only *do more work*. So they do-- at first. They try. But the thing is, that falls apart the instant they're dealing with outliers: people who donate FAR more. So what can you do? Well, obviously, you have to still offer *something*, or the guilt will eat you alive. But what? Obviously, you offer content-- no matter how difficult that makes things. So you go with a timeframe of *eventually*, to at least keep expectations from getting out of control, while still feeling like you have a way to express you gratitude to those who have been so generous. Thing is... that doesn't work. Or rather, it backfires. Suddenly, every single thing that's gone more than a week since your reaction, or let alone has been skipped or left on hold entirely? Has now become ammunition for people who have, in many cases, paid something like $5 just to harass a creator on patreon for "not doing enough," or "doing it wrong," or elsewise demanding things that *someone else* paid for. You, personally, did not pay thousands of dollars to see a series. If, somehow, you *had* been misguided into mistaking Patreon for a commissioned service into which you'd paid hundreds or thousands of dollars with a mistaken impression of what to expect, then yes, you would absolutely be entitled to asking, politely, for a refund. But, even then, it would not make someone a bad person for not having the means or inclination to do so. That is *not* the case, however. You have not donated hundreds, as far as I know. People donating hundreds or thousands are *not* making these complaints, as far as I'm aware. Because they were, fundamentally, just wanting to *donate*, and thought it might be neat if that led to eventually seeing a show or two they'd enjoy a reaction to. They donated to support a creator for content she has *already* made. Not to demand more. Speaking "on behalf" of people who have *donated* far more than yourself, under the mistaken pretense of such having been payment for services that have not been rendered, is fundamentally a bad-faith interpretation. And also... they didn't ask. Or rather, you would genuinely *offend* a majority of such people for implying that their generosity couldn't *possibly* be the result of simply wanting to support a person they like, and that it *must* instead be purely selfish, transactional *purchase*, on their part. That does a massive disservice to those of us who *do* donate just for the sake of supporting someone who we appreciate-- who maybe is part of the reason we're even still *here* today. So... yes, people will react to your insulting implications with pretty open hostility, as a result. I hope that doesn't come across as an insult-- that was just me trying to explain where people are coming from in their distaste for such comments. To be clear, I do relate to your frustrations wanting to know what to expect. But there is a difference between asking, and harassment. And the latter is what drives creators to abandon communication on places like Patreon altogether. You or I cannot *fathom* how difficult it is to establish any kind of communication with thousands upon thousands of people when we have had no occasion to do so. Answering a question that is right in front of us, i.e. on a stream, is much simpler than trying to figure out how to explain something to everyone possible who would want to know... Especially when plenty of people *wouldn't* care about news related to a given series. I get it-- to you, it feels like just speaking your emotional response to a situation after throwing money at some big creative type is inconsequential. If a thing feels "unfair," you lash out, because "how dare they." But to someone who makes the fun content we all consume, here, yours is one voice of maybe hundreds who see their "reasonable" comments as justifiable, despite being laced with hostility and insults that all *magnify* each other... the effect is multiplicative, if not exponential, and it DESTROYS any ability to effectively communicate, because hundreds of people complaining can only sound like the average of its worst voices. You are, in effect, adding to the pile-- the same people who spoil shows they dislike out of spite, or who scream slurs in DMs, or whatever other foul BS. It doesn't matter that you see it as a reasonable question-- by lacking care for how it is expressed, or for the context in which you are speaking... you are magnifying hostilities that already exist, simply by the manner in which you have expressed it. More to the point, though, you also have to understand that people like myself do not pay money towards a creator we like just to hop on Patreon, happen to scroll down on the front page, and see... people coming up with an excuse to say terribly rude things about the person we liked enough to want to support financially. Some of us have been here for years, for the worst of things, and so *any* criticism of our lil' babby boo over here and we're half ready to throw hands, ya know? I still remember when her previous model was *new*-- so much of her support was just wanting her to *continue to be around*, FFS, and you want to instead act like they were ransoming her continued existence in return for cartoons?? Like, calling us slurs or whatever would be one thing, but accusing us of being *insurance salespeople*? Genuinely no greater insult you could make, there. So... suffice to say I'd very much appreciate if y'all could maybe NOT pull this weird thing of "speaking on behalf" of people who have *donated* large amounts of money to a person we like. I myself have probably barely donated a hundred or so, if even, given that I'm probably among the most broke here. But not a single cent of that has ever, even once, been with any instant of expectation, bitterness, or reluctance. I very much like Alicia, she makes my life a bit better just for being who she is, and I have never regretted giving a cent to that sweet lil' bean. Do I happen to enjoy seeing more of her watching uncut videos of my favorite shows from time to time? Sure-- that genuinely makes my day. And, if she happened to stop reacting to things I have an interest in, that's fine! Maybe I'd let my subscription lapse for a bit, to wait for new series and new episodes while I go life some life, to then come back a few months later when I happen to notice a bunch of fun new content on youtube. Hell-- that's how I handle *literally every Patreon*, other than Alicia's, and that's just because $5 for so many uncut videos basically as soon as they're processed is actually pretty absurd, and I've yet to go a full month without *something* popping up-- I have paid $10 to see episodes of someone watching *one* series, and the least I've seen from Alicia at a time is more like thrice that. And that *is* the way to handle Patreon. Support people who make things you enjoy, and don't if they don't. That's it. You can always go watch other things, do something else, have a life, and then maybe check back in if you get curious later. Seriously. No one is stopping you but you. Holding on to frustration just to bring down other people isn't helping anyone, least of all yourself, and you deserve to treat everyone, including Alicia, and including *yourself*, a bit better than that! If something takes a while, that's okay. If you hate the wait, that's okay too-- you just have to give it a break. And believe you me, you *can* just set things aside, live life, and then come back later, without obsessively *waiting* for something. I would know, what with having been a shut-in for a few years where I had *nothing* going on but youtube and the like. It was the *only* thing I looked forwards to, and, even then, I found different things to fill the gaps, so I was never *just* waiting. So that I never turned to bitterness. So that at least I never turned that hatred of *myself* outwards at others, just because I fixated on waiting for just *one* thing, felt frustrated, and lashed out. Granted, I also spent like two years of that not speaking to *anyone*, even online, so maybe not the best role model, in that regard! Point is, though, please don't make presumptions of others, and, well... as nicely as can be said, maybe this is a *you* thing, to work on, for now. Again, I *do* agree that it's frustrating sometimes that no one's perfect, and so we *don't* get perfect communication. But, well... if you're thinking about it *that* much that it's bothering you *that* much, the issue comes from fixation having far-outgrown the scale of a $5 problem. Which is, I imagine, what most people have spent. Either way, best regards to all of ya. Excuse the, uh... 1790 words of *that*. But it's a difficult subject, and I'm pretty dreadful at trying to mediate without a thousand words where two would suffice. Still, on the off chance it would help, either a person who means a lot to me or anyone who shares that sentiment, I felt like something needed to be said. ^^;

I wanna say I never accused Alicia of theft lol, moreso saying people will just get upset because there are, unfortunately, selfish people who do see donations as a transaction. Not saying you do or the majority, but some will :[ I think its good to be protective over Alicia, she’s been through a lot lately. Like jesus so much. But i think the disconnect with the people who complain comes from A) not everyone is aware of whats happened and B) she’s not the only reaction/commentary channel with a Patreon out there is where this issue stems from. Badd Medicine, Media Knights, etc just to name a few have a similar set up and also have a similar thing whenever they post that they get a lot of donations. Like you said, what do you do so the guilt doesn’t eat you alive? What they end up doing is just going by recommendation/what they want and don’t have people redeem money besides the monthly payments. And I think thats where Alicia should move forward. Ultimately, this needs to be a steel boundary for everyone laid out that shes just gonna do what she wants. This is her channel, so I can only just say my opinion and she can tell me to eat shit LMAO. I also don’t wanna see more comments abt “when is this series not here yettt” but there are people who are genuine in their disappointment and confusion only to get dogpiled by others to “JUST BE PATIENT” when I feel they have been. I believe this could be generally mediated by better communication on this site specifically. I’m not personally wanting her to get right back into shows that have been on the backburner if she doesnt want, but others wanna KNOW if they can cancel their subscriptions. Others have more of a consistent schedule—I am subscribed to a lot of reactors so I am not one of the ones begging for content lol—so I think there is a huge disconnect for people on the expectations for series. Some people stay because “well others said it would be covered this month” cause her comments are a huge game of telephone lol. I’ve seen this happen in plenty of threads on this channel. I think what the person suggested earlier and what she used to do worked really well which is a *TENTATIVE*(louder for those in the back) schedule for the month so people can be like ah yes i will keep my sub or be like nah im chill. I really want to stress I do not want her to be pressured or for this to be used as an excuse to hate on Alicia. I genuinely think that you(Liliwyn) bring up excellent points. I would hope that most of us here are really just here to see her thrive and give her the money to help her do so. I just think I’ve seen this exact comment thread go this way so many times I had to say smth. I don’t want more comments again and again abt “what happened to [x] series/movie” as it only delays them. I think we as a community should do better to meet others where they’re at versus coming at them sideways because we are defensive. Being defensive and meeting people with open hostility does not benefit anyone in my eyes. Sorry to also yap but I didn’t wanna go to bed waking up to my words being taken wrong (not saying you did, ur reply was v insightful)

slavicandsapphic

TLDR for those who dont wanna read: This is alicia’s channel, she is not in fact holding u at gun point for money, but a schedule would be nice as so many series have been unloved (sobs in AD and MCU fan) Ultimately tho its ur money and u should spend it wisely and if u dont have money to blow on a patreon thats iffy on a schedule then dont sub lol. ETA: my hand is cramping so bad after this LMAOOO

Liliwyn

Totally fair-- and, in fact, I will revise myself a bit, there, as I really didn't mean to misappropriate anyone's words, there. I wasn't even replying to anyone in particular, so I ended up not giving the right impressing with my particular word-choice, there. Appreciate the level-headed callout on that, as gog knows the internet could always use more of that. Largely agree with you, in any case, on that the tentative schedule thing for a vague idea is quite nice. I do kinda fault myself a bit for also being someone who doesn't engage with terrifyingly vast social spaces like Discord and such (not servers, at least), given I probably *could* find out more if I pushed myself to interact with that, but, well, I do think Patreon having a pretty nasty history with spoilers and rudeness does make it that much more likely to get overlooked by creators, and people being increasingly critical tend to magnify that bias against communicating on the platform without realizing. (Not saying you are, mind! Just in general, I mean, with these kinda convos and how people get so hostile!) Regardless, though, I promise *not* to make a reply longer than the entire conversation thread, this time, lol. Sidebar: I haven't actually watched Dexter, yet, as I just randomly caught this thread from the home page. How's it been? I'm a bit hit-and-miss on live action stuff, as I kinda burned out on the industry's weird hollywood idolitry, but I've been slowly getting back into some through Alicia's stuff, despite myself. Has the writing held up pretty decently? Up for some potentially recommendations, if something comes to mind as a better start, either way, mind. ^^ Mostly ask because, as someone else watching Alicia, I figure y'all must have good taste. ;P

MagnusTheM

time for some more yaoi

slavicandsapphic

No problem :3 glad we could have a chill discussion abt this, I think this is why i love this community tho as we tend to be more civil if we can be. Wish more people on the Patreon would be like that. Thank you also for sparing my hand LMAOO I think the schedule would be the best case scenario or at least a post everyone can give to people who ask abt shows. Also no worries on not being in the Discord, its so huge that I find it mega intimidating most of the time. You are not alone in not wanting to interact with such a huge group of people LOL. Tis why i camp out in patreon Also to answer the sidebar, I have heard good things up until the end! The show has good pacing, good writing, and good acting from what I’ve heard from friends and the interwebs lolol. If ya like shows that make you think and a protagonist that you will have complex feelings about, this is the show to check out! Severance is also a fun reaction of hers to watch, cannot wait for s3

TheDapperGent

hey.... bud, i know there is no videos of her explicitly laying out this kind of info but if you watch her livestreams this kind of info comes up cause people who watch her streams sometimes ask about this kind of stuff and I'm pretty sure she updates the workflow document with that kind of information but im not 100% so someone can correct me on that.

TheDapperGent

You can find most of, if not all this information on the discord. If not then ..........

Vegvisir92

im mainly just wondering about She-Ra, its leaving Netflix on 20th Feb and theres 4 seasons to go, and theres no home media for seasons 4 and 5, im guessing its not gonna get finished

Twiska Brand

Well, I think we were right when we said season 3 would be their favourite season.

Calixion Arts

The Dexter freakout scene + the Dexter "Miguel" scream is top tier cheese that I love so much.

Alex Malix

Technically the Skinner was revealed onscreen earlier in the season, he showed up at the scene where the first body was found because his employee was the person who “found” the body, but they were just very low key about it to misdirect us.

cyberspacecat

lol I agree, I love the melodrama in this show

Zack Allen

This season would be legendary if they had an actual story behind the skinner. Just skinning ppl cuz someone owes him money is super dumb. At least say that freebo was somehow involved with the death of his daughter due to selling bad drugs and he will skin anyone who has info on him till he finds it.

VOLF

the overt implication is that he just likes skinning people. Evil does as evil is
