Yeah I have no idea where you're getting that, it's almost universally agreed upon that the next seasons are weaker, and the ending was incredibly maligned. No idea what people's thoughts are on the recent modern seasons, but most people consider season 4 the last good season.

well, I am legit seeing it on posts and ranking sites that the rest of the series is great, and the modern seasons are on the same level of season 3: decent, but has more noticable problems

Dexter is notorious for going downhill after season 5 lol. Season 4 is the absolute peak of the series and then its iffy going forward and the ending of the final season is INFAMOUS for being absolutely terrible.

It peaks at season 4, but season 5 is still really good, season 6 is where the real decline starts. Tho both 6 and 7 have certain things going for them, 8 is just awful. As for the spinoffs: Origins is whatever, New Blood is great in theory but they tried to make 10 episodes while having content for only 5 so theres a LOT of filler. But ressurection is genuinely great and if you cojnt ressurection season one as a main dexter season I and many others consider it the second best one just after four.

I swear, the thing I hate the most about older TV shows is that real life stuff can affect the writing, i.e. actors leaving. It ruined plots from House MD, Being Human, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. I remember when I first started reading the Buffy Comics it felt so good and surreal that they could just bring in characters who where written off because the actors left.

29:20 why does it feel like they're just destroying their characters for reason. I don't know what's about to happen next , but I don't know. It's weird that the those two specific characters always sparring back to their old problems. Doesn't make it seem like their characters getting gimme better.For progressing. Even if they were having this be a thing , I would have liked to be built up better. Especially, with where we left off in the last season.

This is not an "older TV show" thing, its just a TV show industry thing. At the end of the day its a business, and if contracts don't work, or actors can't/don't want to do the job, then the show has to adapt and move on or be canceled.
