Agreed. 4 and 5 got hit by the Covid-19 curse unfortunately. The extended break in filming kinda made them lose their footing, and they never really got it back. Still good in my opinion (better than 80% of the crap out there anyway), but definitely the weakest seasons in the series. I'm glad 4 and 5 at least got made so we had a conclusion to the series. Unlike The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. So much incredible work and artistic vision poured into that show only to get cancelled.

This is basically where Jim Hopper (the capable father figure, veteran, and competent detective) dies, and Wild Jimmy Hopper (loud, impulsive, and borderline incompetent) takes over in Season 3. 😂 Sure S3 is fun, but it loses me completely in its whiplashy colorful style over substance storytelling, compared to the grounded Stephen King-ish story telling we get in S1/2. Instead of building on the character arcs established in Seasons 1 and 2, the story effectively resets everyone or reconfigures them entirely. Much of the prior growth feels sidelined or thrown into the shredder, and the characters behave in ways that don’t naturally evolve or make sense from what we saw at the end of this season

Every Breath You Take (1983) by The Police is a gentle sounding song with deeply disturbing lyrics. Every school mixer I went to played it as one of the "slow songs" and lots of newlyweds still use it for their first dance. Satisfying to experience it paired with a scene that matches the bitterly possessive and controlling lyrics.

I’m glad you mentioned it because I was also about to mention it Bob the brain as the superhero version Bob the brain was one of those moments that I was expecting Alicia to go oh my God I didn’t lose it and it just went by and she didn’t even notice the other thing that she missed or at least she didn’t respond to it so I’m not sure if she recognized what it was but the snowball at the end at the end of season one that’s what Mike was telling 11 that he wanted to take her too. He promised to take her to that and to see them actually go to it now and season two is the fulfillment of that promise so it kind of makes it extra extra special that they meet there.

The interaction between Billy and Mrs. Wheeler is I think why they didn’t really try very hard to make him look high school age. It’s skeevy enough as it is with him dressing like the embodiment of her romance novel cover, if he actually looked like a kid then we’d just automatically write Karen off as a perv for reacting to his flirting instead of a neglected housewife who doesn’t get a lot of attention anymore and lets herself feel flattered for a minute. Still not great, but not at least not predatory.
