even in season 1 he had emotion, he has always had them, he just dont understand them and he has been told by his dad he was a monster and that he doesn't have feelings, so they are extremely suppressed, plus the thing with his mom dying so gruesomely and so early made it so that he doesn't feel all that much until something major happens, like when he cried when he killed his brother, or how he got scared during the whole bay harbor butcher plot. so I wouldn't say its less realistic that he has feelings, most killers do, very few people are actually diagnosed with psychopathy. and that's one of the most interesting parts of the show, seeing how he emotionally grows throughout the seasons.

Olena Tyrell in the books also has two guardians that attend her. Erryk and Arryk. She can't be bothered to know their names however, so she refers to them as 'Left and Right'

DeVaunBeats

Guys they established he had his apartment in the first episode of the season 😭. He even straight up monologues about it but y'all were talking and completely missed it.

Ali

wrong patreon bro

I think y'all really misunderstood alot of Dexter's reactions to things in s1 He does have emotions but Harry grommed him form the age of like 8 into believing he was an unforgivable monster He's spent his whole life feeling this way It's Harry delusions that have ruined Dexter not his tendencies

BigKez0

Dexter is semi-skimmed freak.

Silver Blade

1:12:20 OMG if it is then Deb is gonna blame herself for not focusing on that case and pursuing trinity with Lundy and that got him killed!!! MORE Deb suffering!

Laboratory

Alicia can u pls react to OP movies

Vincent Price

Y'all talked over the part in episode one where Dexter said he kept it and why.

T.Dot

for the record, this show has never tried to tell you that Dexter doesn't have feelings. Dexter is the one who has tried to tell you that. The show itself consistently tries to tell you the opposite.

40:58 My mom did the same thing with my sister. It got to the point where all she had was a mattress on the floor and one set of clothes. She even took the door to her bedroom.

aliciaxlife

I acknowledged it in episode one but then talked ourselves out of it if you go back

I was always partial to my italian pastime of parenting with the big wooden spoon or if you did something really bad the rolling pin.

Ascended savage

Funny how different the show is from the books. In the book Dexter’s urge to kill comes from a actual demon named moloch possessing him.

PsyrinCall

Moloch’s offspring*

Matthias

that's actually crazy, It also seems moloch existence and influence got either retconned or simply swept under the rug in the next books due to a very poor reception from readers.

Shalune

Infinite suffering for Deb T_T

cyberspacecat

They should watch Supernatural, imo - we need more literal demons in our show rotation

Listening to the parenting podcast really made me think back on my childhood & my parents.

Cassandra

I can't believe nobody else is talking about this but the baby's handprint on the bottom of the "I Love Dad" cup looks like a bloody handprint. I legitimately want to know if Rita and the kids did that on purpose?

ArcaneAnomaly

Soft parenting doesn't mean "no discipline". But it IS often used by lazy/bad parents as a reason to not properly discipline their kids.

TheUnholyEmpire

I was waiting for them to notice the irony behind Batista calling Dexter, a sociopath, "socio" which can mean associate or colleague but colloquially can mean friend.

Smilie

I swear I just heard her saying 'Anton get's jealous for no reason' I swear my eyebrows shot through the ceiling! 🤣
