I disagree, the step-mother is the only one I'm saying is NTA. Dad is TA for putting her on speakerphone without telling her. In-laws are MAJOR AH's for how they reacted and spread her business around. And the step-daughter is the BIGGEST AH for even bringing it up AT A FAMILY EVENT. Yeah I can't really understand the mindset of this daughter. First I'm a dude second I was raised very differently. I was homeschooled and very Christian. So I had to grow up very fast, I was absolutely an adult at that age. I can't relate to this young lady as I was out on my own with a job. I also was raised by a stepfather because my biological father was not a good guy at the time.

Am I the only one that got a bit agitated while listening to this. I really dont know how the blame ended up getting flipped on op and the step daughter loses all blame. She may be young but she is still 18, If op wanted she literally could legally sue her for revenge porn. She sent this to family at a literal social event, ain't no excusing that. And I know they keep saying it but it does feel like they're bashing op for doing porn especially at the end when they say the Grandparents calling op a "whore" is calling it is what it is. Also feels like they just started headcannoning things in the story. I don't recall op ever claiming the step-daughter called her mom right away. She literally stated since the start it was 2 years before she did. Also the whole mom was trying to reach out to the daughter when she clearly wasn't, just because the dad didn't want her there when the boyfriend was there doesn't mean he was withholding her, especially when the mom made no attempts to see her for 6 YEARS. Waiting until she is 18 isn't a valid excuse to not see your daughter for that long. I feel like the huge assholes are Step-Daughter, In-Laws and Bio-Mom, The husband is kind of an asshole and op isn't one at all. Maybe im wrong but this just felt mean-spirited against op.

I agree with a lot of your points but not the revenge porn part. The OP said that it was a contracted, professional DVD, she doesn't have the rights to that footage anymoe. It's not a revenge porn case because it's not private footage like a sex tape or nudes; it's professional, commercial content. If someone shares it the most they can get in trouble for is copyright infringement from the current rights holders.

I understand that you need to listen to what your partners feels, but from what the story shows op literally showed no indication of a relationship with him other than being friends, the bio-mom then digs up info to use against her and threatens her with violence. She is by definition abusive. She literally hits him later in the story.

This whole situation described in this Reddit post is complicated as hell without question. Also people are commenting that the stepdaughter is legally an adult, but it's important to understand people don't just instantly know how to take care of themselves or live their own lives right after they turn 18.

We aren’t expecting this girl to understand taxes or how to buy a house; we expect her to know that showing porn of your step mom to everyone and throwing a huge fucking fit at a family gathering is wildly inappropriate and will have consequences. Consequences that do include that the stepmom doesnt wanna associate with you. She’s 18. She’s not 5, she’s not in the fifth grade, this girl is in college. She can be charged and convicted as an adult. This behavior will get her socked in the mouth later in life if she’s not careful, so I think it is important to point out how, while not fully responsible, she still needs to be accountable for how she fucked this situation up.

Legally 18 year olds are "Adults" but the brain develops until the mid 20s, and 18 is still barely an adult. also, as you get older you find yourself calling people "kids" older and older since they seem younger and younger
