In defence of Elle, she couldn't just shoot him because they needed him to tell them where he was keeping the other sister. That's the TV logic. The real-life logic is that as soon as he refused to drop the knife, she should have shot him. Maybe he would still live and tell them, maybe they could work it out another way. But if he kills her and gets away, both girls are dead.

Dunno, I would absolutely be more comfortable stopping to check on a car or someone in the middle of nowhere than in a city... way more likely to get mugged or jumped in the city, imo xD edit: by "in the middle of nowhere" I specifically meant in or right outside a small town... just realized that was probably misleading since if it was actually in the middle of nowhere I would definitely not stop. That is horror movie human centipede levels of dumb! lol

Plenty of justified cases of cops shooting someone who was threatening them or others with a knife. It's not that he was holding a knife; it's that when ordered to drop it, he refused. That is the point where she should have shot him because she doesn't know if he would run at her or the girl.

Kind of the same tbh. Maybe it's because my state is 90% "middle of nowhere" (I.e. bunch of small towns with nothing but farmland between them) but I'd feel more comfortable checking on a car stopped in the middle of the road out there then in one of the towns. Far more likely it's someone who's car broke down. Now doing this in the middle of the night??? That's a different story. I aint getting out of my car for nothing.
