People who get mad at Connie here just drive me up a wall. Steven's intentions were made with the utmost purity. His own words led to a bunch of human friends and allies getting captured with intentions of getting sent to Homeworld. They almost succeeded to that effect. Steven just wanted to do whatever he could to get them back...by jumping on the grenade himself. The rest of the humans didn't choose that fight, that was a fair move for THEIR sake. But Connie DID choose that fight; she wanted that smoke, she was ready for that smoke. She, very early on, back in Season 1, stated that she wanted to be by Steven's side, WITH his magical destiny stuff. She learned sword fighting back in Season 2 so she wouldn't be a burden in a fight. She worked with Steven to capture the corrupted gems in Season 3, trained together as Stevonnie in Season 4. Her whole understanding was that if any kind of gem threat came, SHE'D be there to help. Except when Aquamarine and Topaz came, and everyone broke free trying to make their escape on the ship, Steven spent the whole time beating himself up while Connie was ACTUALLY trying to fight back. Then Steven just bailed on their partnership by taking ALL of Homeworld's anger towards Rose and putting it on himself. That single act, good intentioned as that may be, stood as a slap to the face of ALL the work and time he and Connie spent together as a team. We see something lower stakes back in early Season 2. Steven tries to shut Connie out of gem stuff after Jailbreak and Connie's like "I don't want to be brushed off, if you don't want me here, tell me to my face. Don't give me the cold shoulder". Connie just wanted to maintain proper communication with Steven and Steven relegated to the same category as the powerless normies. She has a right to feel upset over that.

Honestly I hate how Connie acts here. It is justified that she is hurt and it is childish way to act from a child, which is fair. But there are adults that act that way and I can't help but hate them even when I love them. If you have a problem with me, face me and tell me you coward! Communicate dumbass! Ugh! When someone does that to me, every bit of guilt just turns into spite. And now I am gonna do worse to you because you are being an idiot. Sorry about the rant, it's seems to be kind of a trigger for me.

My assumption is that Pearl covering her mouth was some kind of involuntary thing, like a restriction on what she can say that was placed upon her by someone. No one should clarify whether this is the case; I don't know since I stopped watching the show around episode 4 of this season back then. Edit: Yeah, you said the same thing a minute later, lol.

I love the details of Pearl covering her mouth, because it's actually been happening throughout the whole series. The first time Pink Diamond being shattered by Rose gets mentioned (when they go to the moon base with the Rubys), Pearl is literally facing away and shaking with her hands over her mouth. It's such a good detail that keeps happening that you really only notice in retrospect
