I’m really glad you liked the concept of Lars as an intergalactic pirate, because a spin-off series called Lars of the Stars is currently in production. Also, some serious kudos must be given to Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the actress who voices Connie’s mom for doing an exemplary job replicating the speech patterns and intonations from Patti Lupone’s portrayal of Yellow Diamond.

Watching this episode, a question occurred to me that I never thought of before: just how far into the past could Padparadscha see? Because if she could see years, decades or even centuries back if she wanted to, that could actually be quite useful in terms of gathering information, especially in regards to learning from history to effect the present or even the future.

Just finished a mad rush at work for the last week and caught up on this tonight. Stevens big issue seems to be he accepts blame for anything even vaguely related to his existence. The gems invaded earth roughly 6000 years ago his fault, his mother starts a rebellion his fault, his mother choses to create him and discorporate his fault. The gems seek revenge for the rebellion his fault. Pink diamond gets killed by his mother 5 millenia before his birth his fault. Yet he accepts none of the credit for things he has done. It is expected for him to use his gem powers for good so therefore doing so is not worth any credit. Any spiraling consequences of anything he does good or bad is his fault but never an accolade.

Simon and Kamina's outfits are ALSO a Harlock reference, Leiji Matsumoto is a SCIFI legend in Japan, and interestingly, France (hence Daft Punk having him do Interstella 5555)

Speaking about France, Captain Harlock has another name in french, coming from the compositors of the french intro of the anime, Eric Charden and Jacques Canestrier, who thought the name Harlock sounded too close to Captain Haddock from Tintin (wich was extremely popular in francophone country). They then had the idea to rename it after a french rugbymen, Jean-Claude "Ballatore", who was said to cross the field like an "albatross". And so, they combined the two names, wich became "Captain Albator".
