This is iiiiiit the moment we’ve all beeen waiting foooooor!

MarakamiSG

One of the finales of all time. Edit: I'm gonna be honest folks, I haven't watched the show but I know enough about Homelander from MK1 and twitter clips to know the way he acted at the end was so satisfying to see imo. It's like watching Light Yagami die.

starlord1997

Finale could have been better no homelander rampage maybe someone can sue Amazon for false advertising with those promotional posters such a horrible tease

Mr.M

LETTTSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOO THE FINALEEEEEEE😭😭🙏✨

Kinger

They wrote and started filming this before Gen v was cancelled the creator Eric Kripke stated that Gen v was supposed to continue form here but since it got cancelled the characters feel really sidelined

N00B

Taking away Homelander's powers is the one of the FEW writing decisions I absolutely love. From moment 1 his powers were everything. It was the source of his lack of empathy, lack of common sense and his God complex. We were constantly told that "without his powers, he's nothing"... and FINALLY, we get to see if its true.

Al.exe

Ooh finale time! Full admission, I've only watched the last couple of seasons on here despite having Prime because this has just become my preferred place to watch things. (Same goes for shows on Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc.)

Fister Miyagi

Ending was fine, not great but not horrible. Wish they had let homelander suffer without his powers a little more and that the boys had a few more casualties but it definitely could've been worse

Ozzyguul

I feel they’ll use gen v crew in the boys Mexico

BewearKing64

Eh I dunno about this finale. It's fine I guess, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed with it.

Eric Miller

Now that they've finished Season 5, do you folks think they should watch a video showing what was changed from the comics?

Khalzone

I'm glad you guys seemed to enjoy the finale! I thought it was great personally and I'm happy with where we ended up.

Bryan Burns

Butcher finished him off quick, i don’t know HOW the man was able to resist inflicting a bit more torture and relishing in it, like maybe have him feel some type of pain other than just being punched in the face? like stab him in his body instead of his head so he dies a little more slowly?? i don’t like how this show is making me wonder if i’m more sadistic than Butcher😭😭

DrakeNoAubrey

Even though people are gonna hate, I dont think it was a horrible finale as people predicted it to be, its not GOT or Stranger Things level but its also not a great finale, it was like mid They kept lying with referencing “scorched earth” and the promo posters when all was burned was a desk and a couch

ZukuUzu

The finale geniunely isnt as bad as people wanna say. I agree with the criticism on other stuff like how they handled the gen v cast, how they focused too much on setting up vought rising, and how the final fight was very tame scale wise. But there are some dumb ass mfs who legit think homelander was the good guy and him groveling and being a pathethic bitch is "out of character" those people are actually dumb as hell

Pim Pomerson

could be cool but they went north, not south

DrakeNoAubrey

Yea I agree I would love for them to see that

DrakeNoAubrey

People say they should’ve had homelander kept and tortured but in Butcher’s mind he wanted to end things quick, if they kept him alive compund v still exist and they could’ve gave him his powers back so im happy he just killed him

ZukuUzu

yeah, this is not bad at all. It's a little underwhelming when it comes to final fight, and they fucked up the gen v cast badly, but aside from that it's a pretty good ending, and a much better way of doing it then the bullshit finale of the comics

Egregore

Butcher was in the wrong but he was right that as long as Vought and Supes exist as they are this will never truly end. I hate how the show failed to offer any real alternative to his solution for that inevitable problem; especially since they cancelled Gen V and concluded everyone’s storylines.

PurportedGrey

Personally, like I said last week and since it's complete now, this show went the same way as Stranger Things and GoT for me, not as bad as either of them of course, but the same kind of quality decline as those two. It started fantastic, but slowly lost focus over the last few seasons, and S5 ended up feeling really messy because of that lost focus. The finale still had some genuinely great moments though: Homelander’s plea for mercy, Butcher and Hughie’s final scene, Butcher killing Homelander the same way he killed the Black Noir clone in the comics, and even Hughie and Annie ending up pregnant, even if the fighting crime while pregnant part was really dumb. I also liked that it ended on a happier note for the characters instead of the cynical/nihilistic comic ending where everyone is dead and society hasnt changed, theres a clear difference between showing it didnt change, and Kripke rushing past the aftermath of Homlander's regime collapsing.😂 But overall, the finale fell flat and there's alot of inconsistencies from stuff this season and even this episode that's too long to list.😂 And another thing I mentioned was that overall, the season felt like Kripke and the writers were just ready to move on to Vought Rising. It gave me the same vibe as D&D, the Duffers, and a lot of other showrunners whose series fall apart at the finish line because they either lose the passion or aren't smart/creative enough to stick the landing. Final bit, hats off to the people behind the scenes, this show just like most of these shows, always have a fantastic behind the scenes/on camera crew!

Nick

they really said "get in the truck and gtfo" to Gen-V huh

Blaw

I would’ve preferred Homlander winning tbh, I don’t believe that the boys should’ve been able to beat him, just don’t. I don’t like the deep vs Annie fight, why take him to the ocean, pretty sure nobody knew about the ocean hating him, she even looked surprised when it happened. I don’t like the 4 seconds of pathetic (imo a little too pathetic even for a depowered homelander) blowie offering and shite eating. He went straight back to denial after anyways tho “I’m the homelander” … eh Too safe an ending for me, honestly boring

OfficiallyGames

You can't blame the writers for mariee/GenV, Blame Amazon for cancelling Gen V S3 when season 5 was pretty much finished

Mr. Eldritch

42:38- Honestly, as hilarious as that would be, it’d be too dangerous; taking another dose of compound v DOES give Supes their powers back

Umbreeyoree

Personally loved this finale. Might not have been as bloodbathy as some people wanted, but compared to the comic ending its wonderful. Since Gen V wasn't cancelled before season 5 production it was obvious the show wasn't going to end with all Supes dying. I would have personally liked it if Homelander had been killed by all the civilians he had been tormenting this past season, but they gave that outcome to The Deep so it's still satisfying to me. My guess for Gen V season 3 was going to be the kids cleaning up the Vaught crazies, but since that got cancelled I'm now gonna guess any sequel series premise will have to deal with Stormfront coming back, cause that still never got resolved. I guess it could just be Soldier Boy being in denial, but they set up too many question about her death this season.

Umbreeyoree

So about "keep milking it", the show Eric Kripke did before this, Supernatural, was supposed to end after 5 seasons. The show was so popular they kept extending it a season at a time, until eventually it got to 15 seasons. Yes, they could keep churning out more episodes of The Boys, but once the main story is told it's probably best to just end it there. Spin off are up for grabs, but stretching out The Boys for potentially 6 more seasons would have impacted the quality a lot more than what already was (I think most people can agree 4 & 5 aren't as good as 1-3)

Alex Jesaispas

The final was underwhelming no scrotch earth, battle with Homelander was too fast. Not enough death at his hand in the finale, only the rich man. The season 5 felt like filler, only ep 1 and 8 were not. The writer forgetting that Deep can swim like a dolphin and is durable enough to go to the Mariana Trench and come back fine. They could have set thing up better in 8 episode. 6 to 6,5 out of 10. Still enjoyed it, only sad that I did not feel much excitement since they was close to no build-up. Last thing the way it ended is it not like how Season 3 ended? Only butcher did not want to sacrifice Ryan's power and now he doesn't care. Well that was everything on mind Good day to you reading this!

Eric Miller

The fight near the ocean left me scratching my head as well.

Elias

Man Azu has been looking like a model in these last few episodes. Hope his trip was fun! (edit) Overall a solid and safe ending to a long running series. Karl Urban and Jack Quaid easily had the best scene, closely followed by Anthony Star. That man is too good at being creepy and terrible one moment, then humanizing Homlander the next. (P.S SUPER excited to see the rest of DD s2 and eventually Punisher!)

Moises SIfuentes

I’m pretty they confirmed that they are planning to make sequel named the boys México set after the death of homelander.

bc@t

It's at least not Game of Thrones. Should have been better but could have been worse. Just like the final season overall.

DrakeNoAubrey

Hey Alicia apparently when Hughie scanned Kimiko for radiation and said theres a lot coming from Kimiko thats shy Terror died, he died from the radiation Kimiko was emitting

Alex Jesaispas

Oh good catch, I did not make the connection.

Rell_TheGoat

Btw the dog did pass away after this was shot RIP

DrakeNoAubrey

To add to that, I just now was reminded that in s4 Butcher told MM to take care of Ryan when he thought he gonna die from his cancer

Cornucopiac

The posters could also be what the characters ultimately want. Homelander above it all, watching the world burn while he floats above them, like a god. Butcher, emerging from the rubble of vought, having torn it down and burned it. also they just look cool

Levi Price

I feel like they already stretched it too far. They should have ended it 2 seasons ago and then did the spin off.

MichaelA

I didn't like the finale, but I think the Ryan might have some explanation. Soldier Boys blast was much more destructive and couldn't be controlled, he was going to almost take the building with him or at least a lot of it. There was a decent chance of Ryan dying from what was going to happen once his power was gone. Compared to Kimiko who was just a bit of a blast that cleans you of powers. That is still terrible writing, but is a difference that explains why it wasn't such a big deal this time for Ryan to be there.

Bloodcrusnik

Honestly glad I didn't watch Gen V, so I didn't have the connection to the characters from it that those who watched it did.

PropheticSage

My issue with this ending is that like the rest of the show its just really tame and say what you will about the comics but they at least swung for the fences

DeathSwitch

I really dislike what they did with Homelander. While he is nothing without his powers, he spent his childhood constantly in pain. I don't think he was the sort of person to cry and beg at the end. I would've expected him to still act like he was Invincible. And reading about how Anthony Starr pretty much had to tell the writer to stop making him a Trump analogy really rubbed me the wrong way.. they're different people

AnotherWeeb

Sage's superpower was that her brain never stopped growing. She had the neuroplasticity and brain growth of a child, forever. Removing her power would mean that her brain stops growing. Sure. She's no longer super intelligent. she can no longer process information or learn new things any better than a normal person. Why did she FORGET things she already knew though? Did the blast also just delete like 30% of her braincells while miraculously not killing her? not even 20 minutes in and this shit just doesn't make any sense

Joseph CroenianGamer

I know there were budget issues and lack of a rampage, but i really think a rampage dont suit homelander, the fucker would have had a panick atack in the middle of it, it was all just pose, he would have killed some families and then go and hide

Byron Wright

Seeing Homelander groveling like that with basically nobody in his corner anymore was all the payoff I needed personally.

Alvin Everett

Alicia, when are you gonna react to Korra?

Az256

Finale was ass, I know the only people that enjoyed it are the 'homelander die me happy' type of viewers the writing was just a mess. Deep losing the ability to swim and the squid shoving his tenectal through the base of his neck and popping his jaw off was just nonsense. It's like if aquamarine got hit by a car and we all just say he died from that. Oh father's gag wouldnt have killed him unless MM had homelander level of strength simple physics. Also did they just expect to find these things in the end? Like they would have just died if Ashley didn't decide to flip sides at that exact moment. Sage as a character was more than underwhelming. Homelander fight was inconsistent as fuck like i needed that crowbar in my head to numb myself into believeing it. Butcher going through with the virus would have made for a more impactful end. MMs only story was his beef with vougth that was brought up the whole finale for him just to end up married again some how and him + Ryan sharing zero dialouge and just adopts him. Ryan losing his powers weird choice. Also I know they wanted it to seem empowering that Starlight is fight while preggers but this woman has gotten clapped by low level supes that baby is Hella dead.

Cornucopiac

My biggest takeaway from this is that ant talks a lot

Mr.Mystery

Ryan’s actor seems to confirm that he still has his powers in an interview post the ending. If so, I’d like a spin off with him. (Despite butcher thinking they were gone due to the blast. It makes sense considering his status as the first natural Supe.)

Saint Vakos

Gods , this show from s2 was shiet.
