Well damn, already watched it on youtube so for your question, the punisher is set after daredevil s2 but its standalone enough so it doesn’t matter, also I’m not exaggerating when I say you need to watch the Defenders show after this season because it’s basically a bridge between s2 and s3

Alice Faust

Seconding the point on Defenders, I'm sure whoever picks out the order for MCU stuff already pointed it out but just in case they haven't.

DrakeNoAubrey

Yea you can never be too sure, I’m saying it because I made the mistake of not watching the defenders and being so confused

36:30 So you're telling me; Louisa, the other nurse who got stabbed completely through the body with a katana? That Louisa? The story they're running with is a junkie did that with a scalpel? A junkie? With a scalpel? Put a two inch wide hole through a person's entire body? That's honestly less believable to me than zombie ninjas. That is a sloppy-ass cover story. That hospital had better pray her family never looks into her autopsy report.

I know that a lot of people will be clamoring for reactions to all the Netflix Marvel shows (and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want that too) but instead of asking for you to wait who-knows-how-long to continue Daredevil's story I'm gonna give a streamlined recommendation and order that may or may not lead to the other shows later on lol. After Daredevil Season 2, Punisher seasons 1 and 2 can be watched whenever. Defenders is an absolute must before Daredevil Season 3. It pays off some setups from Daredevil and sets up more for S3. It also features characters from the other shows so you can get a taste of them before committing to a whole new series. After that, Daredevil Born Again is the next step in Matt's story. There are some callbacks to prior events, but it was made after the shift from Netflix to Disney+ so some things are currently in "canon limbo" and aren't 100% confirmed to have carried over until they're in the new show. That's the streamlined version if you're just focusing on Daredevil and Punisher if you want to get caught up as quickly as possible. As for the other Netflix shows: if you like what you see of them in Defenders but are iffy on committing to multiple seasons of their shows, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are both strongest in their first seasons and are well worth your time. Imho Jessica Jones season 1 is the best Marvel show they've made, and Luke Cage's first season is absolutely stellar. I'm not educated/experienced in this area (aka I'm white as fuck lol) but you may get a similar feeling of representation that you did watching Black Panther. Both of the shows' later seasons are good, but they aren't overall relevant at the moment (cAnoN liMbooOo). Iron Fist was generally "okay" but considered a major disappointment when compared to the other shows. Season 2 started to right the ship, but we didn't get a third season to see how it pays off. Pretty much everything you need to get to know those characters is in Defenders. Tbh if you want a "good enough summary" of these shows I'm not against making a freakin' powerpoint for you to go through on stream or something lmao. As always, you do you though. I just felt like I had to add a voice to the conversation that isn't just "WATCH ALL THE THINGS" haha.

Oooh...Powell? Probably not the same one from BA

I’ll be looking forward to when Alicia inevitably reacts to The Punisher: One Last Kill special. One batch, two batch, penny and dime… That moment in the diner also made me excited for her to eventually react to that OTHER Daredevil diner scene (if you know, you know).

So Daredevil s3 has some required watching before you get into it. The show is called Defenders. You don’t have to watch the shows that all the characters are in if you don’t mind things being a little vague. Luckily, Punisher s1&2 have no such thing once you finish Daredevil s2. You free to jump right into Frank’s story. And the consensus is that Punisher is a very close second to Daredevil in popularity when it comes to the Netflix Marvel shows.

We're coming up on 1 year since she started season 2. I hope we can get back to a more consistant schedule soon 🙏

About Matt needing vigilante friends... that'd be the Defenders! But, to really get the most out of that, you'd have to see the first seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. It's basically the street level vigilante Avengers. The Defenders is also between Seasons 2 and 3 of Daredevil so you'd be missing a lot skipping it.

Lance Ivy

No vigilante homeys ....funny you should ask there Re 3 more Netflix marvel shows .. that happen to introduce...vilgialnti homies

Tbh I totally forgot about it lmao my bad. It would go before starting Born Again. That said, Echo's in a bit of a weird space bridging the Netflix and Disney+ shows together, but even then it doesn't tie into Born Again very much. I think I remember one little reference to the ending in one scene in BA season 1? And I think they explain it as much as they need to in the moment. I didn't dislike it, but it feels a lot less tied into the rest of the Defenders-adjacent stories so I completely neglected to factor it in xD

I want her to watch jessica jones after daredevil s2 i really enjoyed purple man

Jessica Jones is my second favorite Netflix Marvel show. Luke Cage was pretty good too. Iron Fist though... I mean... It was a show that existed I guess. It suffered from an unfortunate combination of a bad lead actor and poor direction/writing. It's too bad it's kinda necessary watching to make sense of The Defenders. Which was a good miniseries itself.

I would love to see your reactions to the violence, grit and gore in The Punisher, it is by far the most insane and good tv series Netflix has produced in years. And i bet you would like it too, as you get to see so much more of Frank and how much of a family he is.

Kyutoko

He's sharpening the katana. You use oil on a whetstone to sharpen a katana.

Lin

It's nice how even though Frank feels Matt's way is wrong and doesn't work, he still wants to protect Matt's innocence in this moment. Telling him he can't cross that line. Frank is just as punished as Matt is, wanting to take all the accountability and all the grim realities upon himself and he wants to save non-killers from becoming killers.

Lin

My two cents, don't even watch the Defenders or Iron Fist. The Hand, through no fault of it's own and mostly the fault of a racist former head of Marvel TV (who hated Asians), was the worst crap that Netflix Marvel ever shat out onto a plate. Their organization is unclear, their motives shaky, and the Black Sky was the biggest nothingburger ever created due to them removing all the actual backstory/lore and mystical elements from The Hand. We are lead to believe that the Black Sky is the most apocalyptic level threat the world has ever seen, but it's literally a poopoopeepee villain that wouldn't even be able to go toe to toe with Fisk, who is just a really strong guy lmao. Them building it up for multiple seasons across multiple shows only for it to be what they revealed was the stupidest bullshit ever, especially when the universe is connected to the rest of the MCU which has Asgardian Gods, Thanos, Ultron, Aliens, etc. And for an ancient organization that has been around for thousands of years to be brought down by a handful of street level vigilantes/heroes (not saying the defenders aren't cool) instead of something like the Avengers makes their "apocalyptic plans" and Stick look even stupider. They should have just never included them to begin with if they were going to completely fucking flop the entire plot.

Alicia generally avoids comments section due to losers posting spoilers So you might get more out of it if you posted this on the Discord

Good point! In her recent posts for the last episodes of Punisher Season 1 she mentioned that she's got a plan to watch the others and is watching Jessica Jones' first season next, so at the very least my favourite thing is confirmed for now lol. If I remember right I think Azu is the one who made the plan, and has been doing the same thing for the MCU movies, and so far he's done a good job haha. My main worry was that she'd skip the other shows because there's a lot and its canon is currently dubious, but now that she has a website for recommendations and votes on things I think we'll get there eventually :P
