If there is no limit to return by death it means Subaru could be trapped in an endless loop of torture for any amount of time. He gets zero escape. If it wasnt for his checkpoints being so good he could end up seconds away from death by like sloth or something and just died millions of times trying to escape. Or even just loop forever locking the world into stasis of his torture only he would be aware of.

What Echidna is saying here. Is that the choice to suffer is one Subaru is making on his own. There is no grand fate the witch is trying to lead him on. Shes just trying to keep him from dying for good. He could leave the emilia camp at any time. And any time before this. He chose every route that lead to his deaths. There are full if stories proving most of what he goes through is on him. When be chooses to use his power to suffer for others thats not on the power. Its on him.

so its my personal theory is that Envy Showed up because Subaru was talking about Return by Death with Echidna and they fact Envy couldn't stop him from talking about it the way she would normally do it so she pulled to do it herself

its generally assumed that Satella popped up in this timeline because Subaru told Echidna about return by death and said it so many times. usually she can just do the ol heart squeeze but since he was in another dimension she just pulled up when he got back.

my guess for what happens here is she becomes so jealous of him speaking to echidna about return by death that she either manifests herself somehow or takes over emilia's body some way, and kills everyone he cares about

If names are hard to remember, it might be worth it to keep a notepad handy to write in, i know a few other reactors do that so they can check their notes later. I also barely remember the not-frequently mentioned Witches' names, completely forgot Daphne until this episode. None of the witches have names that are typically associated with their sins, so my memory is lacking. Envy is typically represented by a demon named Leviathan, or how Lucifer represents Pride, Asmodeus is Lust, etc, and afaik none of that is relevant information.

Not sure we want to open that can of worms this early on the show but from what I understand, echidna is slightly different with her "natural born" status vs the other witches. But yeah, my point is that just like alicia notices that their emotions and how they represent their sins seem to be at odds with eachother, even their intentions and their actions are also at odds with eachother whether they're made out of malicious intents or pure blissful ignorance 😂 or obliviousness
