That "upbeat song" playing happens to be the same song playing when Subaru threw himself off the cliff back in S1. Also happens to be the same name as the episode: STRAIGHT BET. I love how the soundtrack to this series is practically a Myth & Roid catalogue.

Fun Otto fact: the thing he did when Garfiel was looking for him is apparently a kind of spell. It's a trick Otto picked up on the road to defend himself; it essentially creates a noise or the sound of footsteps at a distance, allowing him to distract people. This isn't explained by the anime, but I thought it was a cool thing and wanted to mention it to anyone reading these comments.

I know this is a bit of a hot take, but season 2 is my absolute favorite still. The reveals, the lore, the emotional roller coaster. Nothing has topped this in my book. Next few episodes will have Alicia screaming more than she has yet.

If i recall correctly, this was the first episode after like, a 6 month hiatus after the first half of the season. On the one hand, last episode left off in a bit of a weird spot, but this second half started off so perfectly.

I love how real and genuine Subaru and Emilia's relationship feels now. In S1, it really felt like a one-sided, almost parasocial love on Subaru's part, until Rem kicked his ass emotionally, while Emilia's feelings for him were playful but not really romantic leaning. But now you can see and hear in their voices when they talk to each other that they have something real between them.

Im about to start watching Alicia's reactions to this series but I'm a bit confused, I swear I remember season 1 having way more than 13 episodes, am I dead wrong or did she watch some shortened version? And/Or mis-titled? Or just not on the list inside collection/ not on patreon?

The original run of the anime was throughout 2016 consisting of 25 episodes. They released a "Director's cut" in 2020 which was 13 episodes, each an hour long. Alicia was watching the Directors cut.
