(Long thread incoming.) Interestingly enough, when it comes to the stories of the colorblind kid and the black haired kid (names are hard) I had the exact opposite reaction. The only things that usually make me emotional are things I can at least partially relate to or identify with. (Be it some as big as chunks of the backstory or even stuff as small as a minor philosophical chip or minor personality quirk.) In this case I was far more attached to black haired kid than to colorblind kid. The episode structure stuff I find partially correct. At the same time, tho, if you find yourself identifying with the person the episode addresses right off the bat then it kinda just becomes excusable. In this case, specifically. I’m not colorblind, so while the stuff addressed in that kid’s episode and the animation, and even the solutions, were fantastic, I wasn’t exactly emotionally attached or invested and kept finding moments in it that I wish were sped up a bit, even. With this episode tho, the anxiety around trying to be yourself, but punished for it til you get anxiety from it really hit me. And the blue haired girl wanting to be her own person and find her own way through life helping him out? Struck even more of a nerve. I was diagnosed with Autism at a young age (Aspergers for any of my other Aspie’s in the Alicia watchers) and both the black haired boy and blue haired girl basically act as two sides to most every aspie’s coin. That struggle between wanting to be yourself, but at the same time having those moments where you wish you were born “normal”. Yeah, that hits really close to home. My point with the long tangent tho. I, personally, didn’t really need a few more episodes for the theme that this episode portrays. At the end of the day it is still a simple theme to grasp. The part that I think could have used more time would actually be that they arrived at his solution too quick. He went from having that anxiety to shedding it in moments. That element could have been dragged out a bit more, but the intro to it I didn’t find too rushed at all, really. Different strokes for different folks for sure tho.

As someone who knows what it’s like to have your confidence and sense of self-worth chipped away by an neglectful authority figure who keeps you under their thumb, I really related to Richeh and Euini. It can do wonders when you meet someone who has had a similar experience to help you through it.

I get what you mean about how he just showed up so it’s a little hard to really get into his emotional growth. But I feel he also serves as a point of comparison to both Richeh and Agott. All three of them are connected by similar past trauma so whatever they do to help one another they’re also helping themselves. And then a brimmed cap shows up to fuck that all up

@OfficiallyGames unless it took so long because they were preparing for a second season since this season is absolutely ending on a brutal cliff hanger unless they butcher the rest of this arc rushing 8 chapters in one episode. They have been adapting 2 chapters at a time.

My theory is that Qifrey and the eye hat guy are either twin brothers or just brothers, and Qifrey's obsession comes from some wanting to bring family back
