Just putting this out there since she seemed confused about the "touchdown" bit: It's implied that the gems' presence on earth over several millennia has resulted in slight alterations to its history, culture, and geography, hence the jumbled up sports lingo. I personally didn't look too much into this myself, so feel free to prove me wrong if something doesn't line up

yeah the world is crazy different. most of West Africa is still attached to South America, Siberia is gone, there's only 37 US states, there's no Christmas, and ye there's multiple times they say slang but it's jumbled up. Like in Chille Tid I think Amethyst says "bungacowa". i actually really like those weird minor lore bits

like how steven lives in the state of "del marva" and "empire city" is the new name for what seems to be New York. Or how the map of america is severely distorted And there seems to be no government oversight or awareness of.. you know.. The ALIENS that are teleporting around and flying massive arm-ships around the planet from time to time (you think the US wouldn't have been scrambling jets during the end of season 5 when the diamonds showed up?

Yeah, like Imani Brooks above, I just assumed that Steven isn't into sports and got the reference wrong. As far as the cultural differences, Baseball appeared to have the same rules, so I don't see why Basketball and Football would be jumbled up.

Fun fact! Every other gem and their voice actor aside from the core Crystal Gems + Steven is credited as being a "Guest Star." That however changed with Steven Universe Future; since Peridot had her little solo line at the very end of the theme song, she is voiced in every single episode, technically making her a main cast member now.

As horrible as Jasper is, I still love her character. She's absolutely psycho when it comes to fighting and her laugh is so crazy. I don't even know how her voice actor came up with it and I would've loved to have seen everyone in the booth's reaction to first hearing it thinking if the va was okay XD.
