And this is why I hate Korra as an Avatar, love ur content, is the best. S3 and S4 are great

Tea Time Tales with Alicia are the best. I like the subtle details of Korra's personality in her bending. Most fights she starts out with fire. She's hot-headed which is why air was so difficult for her. It contrasts her personality, contrasts how she operates. Like how Aang's difficult element was earth. He's as free-spirited as it gets and Toph was teaching him to wait and listen to the earth. A complete opposite. Each Avatar had some difficulty in learning the elements and as shown in Aang and Korra, it's the elemental style that conflicts with their personality.

The dog story is almost a continuation of you telling us who the favourite daughter is.

seeing all these uploads i just can't believe how much you have on your plate. like going to golden corral back in the day and seeing someone stack a whole thanksgiving dinner on one plate. We appreciate everything you do Alicia.

see, I actually disagree with you on korra supporting the south vs the north and I disagree with Korra a lot this season. at the end of the day, the north is invading the south, they know this is true, she's not politically savy because she was never taught to be so by the white lotus when they were raising her. But it is an invasion, her family is going to die if she doesn't get some help soon or she would be there fighting beside them. People act like she should be better, but should Aang have been better against the fire nation invading the northern water tribe? should he have sat back and let it play out a bit before intervene? No because as the Avatar it is your job to keep the peace, just because it's a civil war doesn't change that duty, doesnt' change if one side is oppressing the others

Most messy break up I’ve ever seen, Korra I know your home is about to be destroyed but you need a cool head in thi situation gurl!

100% agree in the feeling of disappointment in Korra, and that's why I love her character so much. The depiction of Korra as being so clearly inexperienced and immature is why I never understood why people called her a Mary Sue when the show was coming out. She was naturally gifted at 3 bending styles, sure, but she had bigger personal struggles than almost every other character in both shows (at least on par with Zuko imho). This show is all about her personal growth, in contrast to the Grand Adventure of A:tLA, which still had personal growth stories but it wasn't the main plot. Aang had mostly external struggles (save the world, learn the elements, etc), but his sense of self was always pretty solid. His internal conflicts were about trying to stay true to himself when met with situations that challenged his ideals. Meanwhile, Korra barely has her own sense of self, and it's based on what she thinks the avatar is "supposed" to be, which is exactly how she was raised. Korra was completely sheltered and trained to be The Avatar, with all the expectations that come with that, since she was a toddler. Aang wasn't supposed to know he was the Avatar until he was 16, and Korra didn't have someone like Monk Gyatso who fought to preserve her childhood. In terms of wisdom and maturity, Aang had what it takes to be a great avatar from episode 1. Korra has the opposite struggles Aang did, and none of the tools to handle it on her own. I already got my "Challenge the Paragon" story in the last show. Watching Korra learn, progress, stumble, fail, and try again is why I love her story, and why I think it's unfair to say she's poorly written. Being unhappy with her behaviour is one thing, but that's what the audience is supposed to feel, so I call that good writing lol. I'd liken it to how you talked about your feelings about Jotaro in JoJo's Part 3 and the comments you addressed there too. Yeah, Korra kinda sucks right now but that's kinda the point. Let the writers cook (this message is less for Alicia and more for the average Korra detractor lmao).

06:08 - "Dentadator". Yep, you got it.

Yovan_Night (Purple Rain🟪)

Holy W analysis😭 it’s soooo refreshing seeing someone get the point of a character like Korra

Vivica the witch

Yeah this season is a great lesson in why the avatar is supposed to be detached from the world a little bit. But teen angst is gonna teen angst.

PinkSylvia

Thanks for the upload. keep 'em coming

BakaSama

Came for the Avatar reaction, stayed for the dog obedience story.

Faroth

Gotta love the joke of the fandom that that the air temple island used to be a peninsula 🤣😂🤣😂

TroutMan

I could be wrong, it's been a bit since I've seen Avatar, but I feel like the whole idea of "the avatar needs to be neutral" is just something Unalaq said. The avatar needs to keep balance and do good, but imo the entire premise of the series is that the avatar has to actively participate and step in on this stuff. Idk it just seems like a strongly worded speech and not participating in a march isn't in the spirit of the show.

Ryan Mills

Mako might have his flaws, but he also has his golden moments.

Liliwyn

It's tricky, because while the Avatar isn't supposed to show *favoritism*, there's no such thing as exactly being *neutral*. The Avatar ends up having more pull if they can present as a hird party who has the world's greater benefit in mind, but they ideally would also need to be above any sort of influencing for that to work. Which, to be sure, Korra is kinda the worst at, as she's basically manipulated all the time, while also being too quick to act on her emotional state-- both of which end up being opposite to Aang, who was so fixed in his own ideology as to end up discovering energybending as an alternative to killing Ozai, while also having the emotional center of an airbending master to draw on as a major source of strength against lashing out-- so much so that the few times he does, it's framed as a major break in character (like when Appa is taken). Part of it, as well, though, is that LoK is *constantly* attacking, manipulating, and elsewise confronting Korra's *character*, whereas TLA was far more focused on the Avatar as an inciting force of hope that only occasionally had to confront Aang on the basis of character flaws, insecurities, and ideologies. LoK kinda just did *so much* of that, it burnt out the audience. Plus, TLA's often episodic nature by-episode, while each season felt heavily connected, kinda clashed with LoK's perpetual seriality by-episode, with each season feeling "episodic" to the others, as opposed to interconnected. Which is why the new team avatar always feels so scattered, the romance drama nonsense always feels like a mess, et cetera. It's the age-old problem of production limitations holding things back, on a concept that was already going to be more difficult to pull off, which leads to what might be a 6-9 out of ten show (depending on the episode) being pitted against an 8-11. Except that LoK is *also* hard to appreciate without a bunch of media literacy, too-- something *I* sure as hell didn't have when I was a teen, or whatever (the target audience). Still do like the show (other than every romantic subplot involving Mako), but it was kinda the perfect storm in which something could be over-hated. Kind of a star wars prequel trilogy situation. All the same complaints can apply, really, but it's sure as hell better than certain *other* media (for Star Wars, the sequel trilogy, or for Avatar, the live actions-- particularly the movie).

Can I just say, I was fucking INVESTED in the dog training story! Holy fuck I don't know. But I WAS!
