What about the Luke cage series?

Trey Goldsworthy

Actually ironically enough about what you said about Daredevil is that in the comics he is actually completely immune to Kilgrave because his senses are so irregular that his brain doesn’t process Kilgrave’s chemical/biological abilities the same way as most people.

Twiska Brand

Why are you guys skipping Luke Cage?

Zzyzzx

Bold choice to choose the single most boring Netflix Marvel show season ever made to lead up to defenders first instead of Luke Cage.

Ellen King

Since you asked for a comment to explain, because of the head injury, Luke's intracranial pressure was increasing. It looks, sounds, and is pretty extreme, but you can relieve that pressure by drilling through the skull and giving internal bleeding or leaking CSF somewhere to go. Never ideal, but it does happen.

MrTwister86

You should watch Luke Cage season 1 and the defenders storyline has a lot to do with Daredevil season 2

ClaireDeLoon

We just forgetting about the Luke Cage series?

Trey Goldsworthy

I’d say Iron Fist season 1 takes the cake for that but to each their own.

Korota's Creations

One big reason I can think of for skipping the Luke Cage series is because the language in it would make it unpostable to Youtube. One word, specifically. Editing around it would be a mess.

Trey Goldsworthy

Or she just forgot since she didn’t mention in at all in this or the previous video.

Zzyzzx

That’s whyI said it, she said Iron Fist and I immediately dreaded the incoming reaction.

Bowman C.

I mean people don’t just out cold like that. It would have to be very severe brain trauma. Plus his bp rising that much, they believe his brain is swelling, cerebral fluid leaking, and will cause permanent damage if the pressure is not reduced. How does one reduce pressure? You open the container.

Bowman C.

Kilgrave’s ability in this canon, being a viral infection, wouldn’t be transmitted through radio or phone. But in the club he said he can emit his virus out in a 100 yard range. Easily covering a hospital through the vents. Then he just needs to make the commands via phone.

Bowman C.

I know a lot of people don’t like the later seasons but personally, I think the second season’s… how does one say this without spoilers… One of the main struggles Jessica faces, that is closely tied to this season’s experiences, is an incredible depiction. The other struggles she faced, not as impactful or memorable

Filip

Why not watching Iron Fist?

DrakeNoAubrey

22:14 thats the interesting part, you dont

Vincent Price

alicia.......you forgot about Luke Cage series? lol I'm sure you are doing it and you just forgot to mention it as you both said you are looking forward to the series.

nervouspirate

So in thousands of years, we’ve yet to find a better treatment for brain swelling than simply cutting a hole in the skull to alleviate pressure until the swelling can go down

Nicholas Reed

"I don't do names, you know that FiestaFox"

Nicholas Reed

What would have been less satisfying: If Killgrave had survived, or if he had just been killed by the serum?

nervouspirate

I don’t think she’ll skip it, the first 7 episodes at least are objectively great TV.

Sere

So Kilgrave does exist in the comics. You think Kilgrave is a stupid name? Get ready for this. He's "Purple Man" there. That's his actual villain name. His skin is fully purple and he mind controls peoplee. That's why he wears purple suits and briefly turned purple with the shot in this episode, they're nods to his comic name. Kilgrave is way better than if they stuck with Purple Man.

King'sBard

The thing that Kilgrave says he'll do when he gets back in control of Jessica is actually what he did in the comics when he first took her, he made her want him and denied her while sleeping with other women.

Trey Goldsworthy

Yeah Purple man would be a name other heroes would call to mock him.

Michael

I am so disappointed we aren’t watching Iron Fist, it’s my favorite of these after Daredevil.

Luk42

because a lot of people dont like that series (me personally, I love it but I also admit that Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist is not handled well and is the worst part of the season. (the Meachums tho? them? their actors are great and I'd watch several seasons of their family drama))

macattack

and mfuckin" Rosario Dawson. oh luv that woman

macattack

the show a hit or miss. there some good in there but it really sad that the best martial arts in the show isn't iron fist . some of the plot goes all over the place. it like 5-6/10 marvel show so i get why we might skip but i like

Loopy

Hopefully you get to Daredevil Born Again its such a banger show

Blaw

I really don’t remember iron first being so bad you’d have to skip it (?)

Yeeticus Maximus

Wonder how you'd like The Transformers? The 80s movie?

Karatsuki

Wait wtf I just realized that after Jessica puts the dude in the closet we see the layout of the room and she walked PAST the dude grinding the dads arm without even looking to check on the dad and only then did she acknowledge the grinder That is some BS

Karatsuki

The Iron Fist hate is super cringe in the Marvel community It isn't even the worst show BY FAR to come out of Marvel

TheRuralArtist

I don’t know if anyone in the comments has mentioned this, but in the original comic books Kilgrave’s villain name is even stupider: The Purple Man🤣

Fei Ashtear

Brain swelling from having his brain knocked back and forth in his skull

Xemnes

Need to watch iron fist it was one of my favorite heros

Blackbaldrik

I mean, he IS still Kilgrave in the comics (though I think it's spelled with to 'L's there), it's just his supervillain alias that is the Purple Man. And personally, I don't mind that villain name. Had he survived, I could see him eventually adopting that alias. Though I am very glad they ditched the fully purple skin.

Blackbaldrik

I mean, it's kinda just a matter of physics. There's only so much medical science can do about that. If you have a closed container (in this case, Luke's skull) with dangerous building pressure you need to open a way for it to be released, or it will either explode or crush whatever is inside.

Dudeman Jones

I cannot wait for you to watch Luke Cage. It's excellent

nervouspirate

I just think it's funny because it's basically what people have been doing since Mesopotamia. What ain't broke, don't fix.

NayXuh

The same problem existed before "Collections", some episodes of JoJo's were not tagged properly. Seems like the "Collection Rework" isn't without it's issues either. I hope it gets fixed soon though, for future viewers and such.

Trey Goldsworthy

Hopefully she’ll watch season 2 of it where it actually gets good.

Bowman C.

Yeah I think it’s one of the evidences they had for the Pyramid builders weren’t slaves. It’s because some of them, after presumably suffered trauma on the worksite, got their skulls drilled open. And some of them healed afterwards. As in they might had either free health care or got compensated enough to pay for health care.

Mr.Mystery

I think Luke Cage S1 comes before Defenders.

Umbreeyoree

So in Daredevil season 2 Night Nurse spoke about helping "A big guy", which Alicia immediately thought meant Frank Castle. Jessice Jones season 1 happened before Daredevil season 2, so now we see the big guy was Luke

TSP247

I can't wait for luke cage series.

The Man who knows His Name

I thought he broke out due to sheer willpower. If you have enough will, you can negate his control in the comics.

TwinCat

Seems like she’s skipping Luke Cage. Sad, but I guess it makes sense. She can always come back to it later if I remember correctly. It does fine in a vacuum.

Kawaii Edgelord

I'm only a little disappointed I won't see you make fun of Iron Fist.

Ashcroft Production-House

if you love claire then you need to luke cage and iron fist because she gets alot more development in those series.

Joi Rene

Did she already watch Luke???

Zannimask

When this show came out I was personally sick and tired of superhero movies killing off their villains. With the exceptions of Kingpin and Loki, who eventually got his redemption, we have effectively zero recurring antagonists in the entire franchise (it's gotten a little better and now there's a multiverse but it's still the norm). As for Kilgrave, I think he would've been a really interesting choice to bridge the Netflix and larger MCU movies together, where an otherwise "street-level" villain becomes a much bigger threat because of who he's up against. Having said that, I 100% agree with the choice to kill him here. Like you said, it would be so unsatisfying if it went any other way. It was the right call for this story, but just thinking about how many other villains didn't need to die in their movies bums me out haha. Like, just thinking about which baddies from I'd wish could come back... or could've been more regular figures in the stories. Obadiah Stain, Ivan Vanko, Maliketh (deserved so much better and I love his actor), Ultron, Kaecelius, and Killmonger. Any/all of these would've been sick as hell if they persisted more past their movies. Either way, this show is peak and I have few to no notes lmao.

Kinger

Are you skipping Luke cage?

Aquanubis

Its be amazing if they checked out inside man. If they enjoyed David tennant here

Kevin Bartelen

The other two seasons are worth watching, even if you just watch on your own, but I'd love to see you react to them.

CarcosanTimeshare

Eh... For Iron Fist I'd recommend some kind of recap video on YouTube. It was, by far, the weakest of the Netflix Marvel series in my opinion. The pacing was weird, the writing was off, and the actor they got to play Danny Rand kinda sucked at the role. If you liked it, cool, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. I just couldn't. I felt like I had to drag myself through most of the episodes just to get the necessary lore for the other four series. Which really sucked, because I like Iron Fist. He's up there with Shang Chi as one of the world's best martial artists. Though, if I remember correctly, Deadpool actually beat him in a fight one time. Not in the hand to hand department, of course. I want to say it was an explosive device? I can't remember, it's been too long ago. Pretty sure that comic came out in the early 2000's or something.

Mystchevious

she hasn't watched Luke Cage. Her Editor gave her a list and I guess it doesn't have our boy Luke on it. WHICH IT SHOULD!

Mystchevious

I get that you don't have all the time in the world if you're doing all this in preparation for spiderman. But, 1 Thank you for watching these series. People these days sleep on them and miss out on how amazing these were especially since these were before Disney Marvel kinda made people lose interest in things. 2 I can't say enough how you shouldn't sleep on Luke Cage. (and later on Black lightning but that's another series for another day) Luke Cage establishes a huge relationship that will be in defenders. Please don't skip it. ESPECIALLY if you're doing just a recap of Iron Fist.

Joi Rene

It absolutely should. And Ithink and will really enjoy it too. At least season one

Lance Ivy

his blood pressure was rising and they could nt get medicen in so she was going to drill a burr hole to let blood out

Lance Ivy

luke cage before defenders

NerdyGothKitty

3:36-5:20 So when you take a big blow to head it can cause fluid build-up and swelling inside your head, potentially creating a lethal amount of pressure in your skull. In emergencies where doctors are worried about this, sometimes the remedy is to drill a hole into your skull to relieve the pressure (sort of like trying to slowly open a soda can that has been shaken, to avoid it spraying everywhere), which is what they were trying to do here.
