Varrick may have done some messed up stuff, but you just can’t stay mad at that charming SOB. And I ‘m glad that Alicia has kept such a level head in regards to Korra’s actions, so much of the hate thrown towards her is unjustified. Aang made his fair share of mistakes, but nobody in the fandom holds it over his head the way they do with Korra.

One of the biggest things I love about LoK is how visibly and actively flawed the main characters are, and their journeys of improvement are part of their stories. I love the Gaang, and their story isn't as focused on that kind of thing which is totally fine, but for all the criticism season 2 of Korra got for the Teen Drama Stuff it was decently written Teen Drama Stuff. These kids be messy and fuckin' up, and the show knows it, and it takes its time for those messes to be addressed and cleaned. More than its predecessor, LoK is a story about the process of figuring out who you are and personal growth, and ya can't have a story like that without characters who have some work to do xD So excited for the future of your reactions to this show! We're almost at season 3, and it's a DOOZY

one of my most favorite things about watching Bolin fight is that he doesn't fight like a traditional earth bender. Toph taugh Aang to be grounded and hold his ground, but Bolin's action sequences are so much more fluid and dynamic. No other earthbender fights like him.

The charm is what makes Varrick so much of a threat. If he just acted like a serious, cutthroat businessman then people would find him far more suspicious when he suddenly makes big moves like this. By being a whimsical little guy he makes any serious accusations against him seem crazy and unjustified regardless of how true they are.

The romance (at least how its handled here) is part of why a lot of people don't like LoK. It doesn't serve the story and actively distracts and complicates the things we actually want to see. Its like when you're eating soft food and feel a crunch.
