2026-10-24 10:13 I audibly gasped the moment the notification popped up - I don't need sleep, I need this reaction in my veins NOW! @.@ Edit post-watch: Yeah, this one was nothing short of the ultimate passion project for the directors of the film (and undoubtedly the majority of those who worked on it), what with them working out a deal years prior to create what would become several other Disney classics before this one. Unfortunately, as many others have pointed out, the suits weren't exactly keen on letting this one flourish during the time it should have. Thankfully, that didn't stop the people who did see it as kids from getting everyone else to watch it as the years went by, and now the both of you have as well, and I couldn't be happier for it!

Jose Juaquin

I learned this past week that Disney was so far into production of the sequel that they were beginning voice recording they had Williem dafoe to voice the villain that he was ten minutes away from the studio when they called him back that it was canceled

SouthHill

Oh heck yeah, loved this movie as a kid. Unfortunate how the poor marketing and all sorts of nonsense screwed it over.

j00d_d00d

Gurl, I SCREAMED when I got the notif. LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

MinusZero88

Alrighty you got to watch Treasure Planet Alicia!!! I haven't seen this Disney film in a long time. As soon as I saw your "notification" I had to watch your reaction! ^^

Fei Ashtear

I feel connected to the toilet mouse

N00B

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHJHHJHHHHHHHHH!!!

Patrick Travis

As gorgeous as this movie was it is still considered one of Disney's biggest financial failures, which sucks because it has since become a cult classic.

Touffe Touffe

Now waiting for Atlantis Lost Empire react

Michael French

How on earth do I find her website? I tried typing, app. Aliciaxlife.com and I can’t for the life of me find it

DearSoberUs

This is the best movie ever, next to Oliver & Company

E.H.

This opening mouse tale has me suggesting Alicia stream the game Home Safety Hotline. No spoilers but - thanks to locking eyes with that mouse - a plot point will payoff less than an hour in.

King of flames

One of my favourite movies and one of my favourite PS2 games.

VonZale Carson

Omg this is one of my favorite movies no one ever talks about it

JellieBeanie

As a wee lass of 8 years old, i loved this movie and Jim was my first cartoon crush haha

Alymorphous

This is my favorite movie of all time, I'm so glad you finally reacted to it

Elias Cristerna

Same hope she checks out Atlantis too. The vehicle design alone holds a special place in my childhood's heart.

Mayaeldred

I think we will be getting that too because she was on a tab for Atlantis at the end

Silver Blade

1:40:00 it's so stupid that people actually believe that artstyles under limitations can't be preferred over other artstyles under less limitations.... like if anything the newer tech should facilitate making artstyles SIMILAR to the old ones instead of just "do what you can"

Arrowmage

"You're not getting nothing bed if you're named Delbert" LMAO OF ALL PEOPLE TO SAY THAT ABOUT

Zzyzzx

Not so fun fact, Disney intentionally sabotaged the movie’s marketing and release in order to justify moving on from 2D to 3D animated movies.

Darc Hart94

Still my favorite disney film of all time.

Silver Raven

Many furries were awakened by this film.

Joseph Zen-aku Kaga

This movie is based off the old book "treasure island." With a few liberties

Darc Hart94

Ah, yes the captain. Such a well written and capable female character back when they were actually well written

Drago the dragon pokemon

oh quick fact captain flint at the start of the movie is voiced by the late peter cullen

Heartless

I might be crazy but Jim kinda does look like Fax XD Might be the hair cut

"Its not about the treasure... ...its about sending a message." -Captain Flint (probably)

rmnlegion

And we were robbed a sequel. It's unfortunate. Also rest in peace Peter Cullen ( He was Captain Flint).

Afell Tale

One of my very favorite movies. An absolute classic take on one of my favorite friggin books

Jaffar Black Fang

Agreed shame they were sabotage once Disney switched CEO's The animators and writers fought for this movie only to get approved then Disney got a new CEO that didn't really care for animation and well they kinda quietly sabotaged the movie's chanes

Ric

I'm so sad that this didn't do well enough to get a sequel. I think think there was some concept for it as well.

Emilysr97

Lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stardust Breaker

This is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. Glad you’re watching it.

Hylian Warrior

I still remember seeing this movie when it first came out and I absolutely loved it,it was always a personal favorite. This and Atlantis are extremely underrated. And it sucks cus these films came out at a very bad time when there became the rise of CG.

ΛIRS

Wasn't on my BINGO card but massive W ❤️

Bob

I love this movie dude. This movie was too good for its time, this and Atlantis, I genuinely think people just weren't ready for movies like this at the time, these hyper stylish, kind of outlandish and wonderful (as in full of wonders) visual spectacles. Have you read Treasure Island by the way? The 1883 novel by Robert Louis Stevenson? Or seen any other adaption? I imagine not since you didn't seem to recognize the story. A brief summary of Treasure Island, see if this sounds familiar: Young Jim Hawkins is given a map by the pirate Billy Bones who dies in his family's inn. The map leads to the island where legendary pirate captain Flint has buried his treasure. Hawkins sets sail on a schooner from Bristol and on board he meets the cook Long John Silver. The ship's first mate mr. Arrow is washed overboard. While hiding in an apple barrel, Hawkins overhears Silver talking about mutiny. Once they reach the Treasure Island and find the marooned pirate Ben Gunn, the mutiny happens. Ultimately, they find the treasure is already gone and Silver switches sides and helps Jim and the gang escape and at the end Silver slips away in the night. There are some name changes, the captain in the book is a man named Smolett, Scroop kind of replaces one of the mutineers named Israel Hands, and of course the setting is all sci fi, but it's in general a pretty damn faithful adaption despite the big stylistic difference. And Treasure Island has been adapted a lot, in fact the reason we all have an idea about how pirates talk is because that's how Robert Newton talked when he played Long John Silver in the 1950 film adaptation. That was just his dialect, he was from Dorset, England, and because of him we now we all have this idea that all pirates talked like that. Also, captain Amelia high key got me like "I'm not a furry, buuut..."

Tyler Harding

GAAAAASP Is it Christmas? I LOVE this movie!

millecamps

treasure planet??!!! yyyyeeeeaaaaahhh. i haven't watched it in more than a decade and still remember it more than any pixar or dysney movie hoping she react to atlantis too

Richard

Loved this, and knew you’d love it too, this movie was part of my childhood.

Sere

I mean, it's a fairly self contained story, it doesn't NEED a sequel. It's Treasure Island in space, they told the story in the movie and that's it.

Jacob Marley

Fun Fact, the reason why the movie has the sailing aeshtetic for the space ships is because when the original book was written the idea of space was that it was basically another ocean made out of a substance called aether so the idea of space travel back then was literally sailing ships through space

This movie was a colossal failure for Disney, but there's a lot of tin foil hatted theories on that.

Cashryn Sins

imagine being such a pacifist that even the rats are bored with you, so they kill themselves instead. xD

Ave, True to caesar

The mouse wanted to tell you about your cars extended warranty

Fatbean2

Alicia with the mouse situation reminds me of Penguinz0 with the cockroaches back then lmao

Aliulo

I literally dropped everything I was immediately planning. YES YES YES.

Jaffar Black Fang

There's a really good video that goes into how Disney set this movie to die after years of the writers/animators fighting for this movie to get approved Sadly a common tale in the film industry When companies changes CEO's many film that the previous head was interested end up getting the axe by the new one

Adam

Same with Atlantis. Dreamworks also did it for Sinbad.

Gekido

FINALLY, I used to pray for days like this!

SherlockHyde

We did at the very least get Battle at Procyon, which isn't the same as an ACTUAL sequel film, but isn't the worst licensed game ever made.

SherlockHyde

I'm so here for this reaction, I have vividly fond memories of seeing this on opening day at what was then my local cinema, back when I was 12. Also, I'm only just now finding out that that particular cinema closed for good during the quarantine, and I am VISCERALLY depressed now, that place was where my mom took me to see most of the renaissance-era Disney movies. In fact, the ONLY one of those that I didn't first see at that place was Hercules, which I got to see twice in one day because the theater that we saw it at screwed up the showtimes for it. Legitimately one of my earliest memories is seeing Aladdin at that place(or, well, being in the theater while it was showing anyways, I would have been 2 at the time).

Koirby

The soundtrack for this movie stayed in my heart all the way through my adult life. "Im Still Here" absolutely defined my 20s. This movie stays incredible.

2026-10-24 15:57 “You’re not getting nothing in bed if your names Delbert!!” That did not age well dude got a baddie 😂😂😂 Also it’s pretty obvious with the title but the film is an adaptation of the book treasure island just with a sci-fi spin to it. The film was somehow a major box office failure on making around 70-80 mil on a 140 mil budget. It’s known as the film that killed 2d animation because of its failure. It was really down to stiff competition with big sequels for Harry Potter and Santa Claus coming out and its massive budget. Sadly that killed any chances of a sequel even though the creator did have a plot drawn up and some pic were leaked (never confirmed if they were real or not) talking about what a sequel would look like. The plot for a sequel was real but the pics were never confirmed. Also “here I am” or Jim’s Theme” was written and sung by the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls same band that wrote “Iris”. It’s one of the few bands that are really grateful for those songs and loves playing them for fans

A whole planet of treasure

Sere

This was based off of the book Treasure Island, a classic adventure story by Robert Lewis Stevenson (hence the RLS prefix of the ship, a nod to the author). Long John Silver is one of the most famous pirates in fiction. If you want another fantastic adaptation of this story, check out the movie Muppet Treasure Island, made right after the Muppet Christmas Carol you previously watched. Tim Curry co-stars in it as Silver and both versions are among the best Long John Silvers we've ever gotten on film.

Sere

I'm still hoping they watch Muppet Treasure Island soon, after they watched Muppet Christmas Carol a couple years ago. Tim Curry as Long John Silver was about as perfect casting as we could have ever asked for

TJBraddock

Treasure planet is such a masterpiece it's a shame that Disney didn't have faith in it. And it was overshadowed by big time releases at that time, Lord of the Rings, Chamber of secrets, Spider-Man.

Adam

There was a sequel game, at least.

Jonah Daniel Washburn

The Cornerstones of Early 2000's Animated Adventure: Treasure Planet Atlantis: The Lost Empire Sinbad The Road to El Dorado

Derek Sanchack

YESSSSS. Thank the Lord! This movie has been #1 most-decreed on her website for several months, and I have been waiting. This, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas were the three movies that made up my entire early childhood.

Baindrik Morgren

Now eclipsed by "John Carter" at 341 million loss, "Strange World" at 340 million, "Mars needs moms" at 336 million, "The Lone Ranger" at 277 million and "Tomorrowland" at 266 million. Might be more but this is a list of five. I'm surprised none of their live action disasters made this top five.

Wil DeYoung

"If your name is Dilbert you ain't gettin' nothin in bed." It's crazy how wrong she was about that.

LazyPanda101

Idk if anyone else said this but this was one of the best uses of 3d fused with 2d animation. The main example of this is silvers robotics, it blends so seamlessly it's crazy

Baindrik Morgren

at the 25 minute mark I am surprised Alicia hasn't made a single "One Piece" joke. Especially when the map came up.

GreedOfGram

So about the rat, it's weird that it hasn't been caught yet. My place is in the middle of a canyon, so rats getting in the garage is commonplace but still unwanted. My go to for catch and release is to use peanut butter and any kind of bread, and they're usually caught by the next day. Even caught a rat that was living off candy.

MarakamiSG

A great movie sabotaged by Disney themselves.

Ryan Sturgis

For sure this and Atlantis was part of the trio of movies i grew up with, I really hope she reacts to Titan A.E. Its another underrated movies which you don't see too many people react too.

DeathSwitch

Someone mentioned Atlantis, that made me think of Michael J Fox and makes me wonder if Alicia has seen the Back to the Future trilogy and if not, this crime must be remedied

Cole Romero

I remember when I started watching Invincible and a buddy of mine had said they hadnt seen a villain be so complex of a character like Omni Man since John Silver. And I can see why. Dude is for sure top tier

Ponyman1997

Alicia, "I hope he survives, I like him" 10 seconds later he dies Alicia, Shocked pikachu face

ColdButCozy

Holy crap yes, insta-watch

Qrowe

Flint is the epitome of greed. That treasure is his, even in death. No one will ever have it

JayKayNinja369

If you want a movie studio that spends its time perfecting everything even the backgrounds than I highly recommend cartoon saloon, an Irish animation studio.

GingerRaven

One of my favorite films of all time! Hyped to re-watch to with you (I have seen this film so many times)

Grandmasta

i remember getting a computer game for this movie.

Graham Wilson

Treasure Planet is my favourite Disney movie

Pepe D. Silvia

One of the few VHS movies I had growing up that I watched over and over along with iron giant. Also it would be great to see this movie in the theaters Alicia that’s to say if anyone actually went to see it and it didn’t bomb at the box office among other things. Also someone should find and suggest this mini doc that’s on YouTube about the making of the movie and plans for a sequel that never happened.

Carlos

Disney's forgotten masterpiece John Silver is one of my favorite characters in animation

Moviejunkie

If I had to compare the two, I would say I love Atlantis more than this.

DrOverbuild8363

A classic film that deserves more attention.......though thankfully because of the lack of we never got a sloppy Disney sequel or low budget show, which would've brought the film down in quality overall.

KyleTheCinephile98

One of if not THE MOST underrated Disney Movie of all time. They had a sequel planned and everything where Jim enrolls at a prestigious school called the Royal Intersteller Acadamy where he falls in love with one of the other students and gets caught up in heist where a new high tech Battle Galleon is stolen by a new pirate, Ironbeard. The script was finished and the team already entered pre-production when the powers that be pulled the plug after this film's flop.

QuibblesAndGitz

The red spider guy with the cool voice Scroop is voiced by Michael Wincott, who played a number of iconic villains, such as in The Crow, Three Musketeers, and Robinhood Prince of Thieves!

KyleTheCinephile98

The 2000s Nostalgia Is STRONG With This One Anakin! Also, yippee, Fax is here for a non scary movie, his tear ducts can relax now.

Luke.H

I first watched this movie with my sister in cinemas when it released when i was a few years old. It was my first time in a cinema and was also the birth of my love for animation. Its my personal tradition to watch this movie at least once a year because no matter how many times i watch it, i always feel that sense of awe i did as a kid all those years ago when i watched it in cinemas. Im so glad that yous loved it. Such an amazing movie that holds a special place in my heart.

cjtwin2

loved the space port reaction, that really was a cool reveal

Mr.Mystery

I hope she watches Wreck It Ralph too.

Skerm

I'm so glad you enjoyed this wonder of a film! I won't ever forgive Disney for using it to kill off the investment on 2D films. Fyi, they rescheduled the theater release so it would go against the First Harry Potter movie so it would fail at box office and have investors move out of 2D into only 3D and live action.

Skerm

She soooo needs to watch Sinbad

Vegvisir92

i would've preferred this be a solo reaction, but we can't have everything

Vegvisir92

definitely need a Muppet Treasure Island reaction

GreyNimbus

Why wasn't THIS in Kingdom Hearts?!

Delton

I was waiting for this! This got me into reading the Treasure Island book!

I love this movie so much. also Captain Amelia is so hot, got daymn. always loved her.

AAAAAAHHHHHHH

Arashi

Makers really cared about what they were putting on the screen. Sure, it's just Treasure Island in Space... but there is a reason classics are classics and are still used. Love this movie so much. I'm Still Here (Jim's Theme) has been playing rent free in my head since 2002.

Faroth

Now we need her to react to the Muppets version of treasure island RIP TimCurry, best muppet of them all, he was a professional pirate

Clayton Stewart

If I remember right, this was the first Disney movie where a parent just left instead of dying. You don't really see that much, and also not as well done either.

Andrew Parker

Can't wait for Alicia to watch Muppet Treasure Island next

Texasholdme

Another for the "listen to while working" list, awesome that you're watching this. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

Malcolm Washingon

Those two and Sinbad legend of the seven seas are some of my favorite animated movies. I get that Sinbad is DreamWorks but I feel like all 3 fit a similar vibe and all are animation classics not appreciated enough.

NekoSoophie!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT ITS HAPPENED!!! So incredibly beyond excited to see this reaction!

Ryan Searle

This and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are the type of movies that should be getting released in Live action.

MichaelA

How did it get to most recommended? I always loved the film from when it was released, but can't say I have ever seen it get that popular anywhere even when there are those of us who like it in the community! And mice love peanut butter. Have always caught the mice that the cats sometimes like to plop in front of me and watch me fail to catch before they run and hide, within a day using the basic catch and release trap we got on Amazon. Hopefully it isn't a female and male mouse, they will multiple by insane numbers very quickly very soon if they are still around.

YubarReingok

Still one of my favorite animated Disney movies. The relationship between Jim and Silver is so well done. And the best part really is when Silver comforts Jim after the black hole. Silver being the one to comfort Jim and give him a hug still gets me teary eyed every time.

MichaelA

To add, this is probably the film that killed traditional animation, or trying to blend computer aided traditional animation, at Disney. Or was the excuse anyway. This film was sabotaged heavily by Disney who didn't really care (even if not entirely intentionally, but just not caring incompetence), but they had made a deal to get someone to do another film by promising to make this passion project that they had always wanted to make. The film was by far the most expensive traditional animation ever made, and used new techniques for computer blended animation, rather than just computer generated which was where Disney wanted to go. They released it in the middle of a few major franchise releases, and marketed it badly. It was a big commercial flop, and they used this to justify dropping traditional animation going forward.

James McCafferty

49:29 I think this is the fastest we have ever seen the "Alicia curse" take effect lol.

Joseph CroenianGamer

this was supposed to be ONE OF THREE MOVIES, Disney really fucked us whit this one.

Mathias Allen

I feel like the CG in this movie was WAY better then some modern movies. Also WATCH ATLANTIS!

Morph

There was a cut line that revealed that the captain and Delbert’s kids were carried and birthed by Delbert.

hiddennijafist .

34:00 don't worry Alicia, space travel isn't scary, it's like the ocean but it completely surrounds you!

Frozeneggo

All the scenes with the ship were done with deep canvas, the tech used in Tarzan for the tree surfing scenes, it creates scenes around a 3d model. Deep canvas is very expensive and so this movies budget was not small and when flopped on release from bad marketing that put the final nail in this dream project of Ron Clements and John Musker.

Cruik

so when is she seeing Ratatouille lol

Levi Price

I understand you've never seen the movie, but it was so surprising neither of you ever read treasure island

spyroxiv

Fun fact the ship R.L.S. Legacy is a tribute to Robert Lewis Stevenson the author of Treasure Island

Kaio Strain

This movie, Sinbad, and Atlantis were PIVOTAL for my childhood imagination, i'm always glad to see other people enjoy it!

Treasure planet is one of the best ever cartoons to ever exist. I’m so happy you were able to react to it. Keep up the good work and good health hope well for you 👍 and another good movie if you haven’t reacted to it already is mouse in the house. It’s an older one, but it’s super good.

S Savage

I am so happy that you finally did treasure planet it is one of the best if not the best Disney movies in my personal opinion what’s the old classics are amazing but treasure planet is just so so so so good

I’m SO happy that you decided to give this a watch! It’s an underrated gem! And one of my favorites

Samantha Whaley

My dad did cheese and peanut butter and it always caught something. Sometimes it was a mole, sometimes it was a vole, sometimes it was a mouse. Sounds like it's time to get a cat tho

There was actually a planned sequel with concept art but thanks to Disney screwing this movie over it was never greenlit.

Connor Devine

It always hurts a little when people miss the “Dang it Jim I’m an astronomer, not a doctor!” quip

first time ive ever seen this. Honestly really solid and impressive. very surprised how well it aged. Mom survived and it wasn't the main kid that got the love interest so thats two trope subversions. really cool concept with sci-fi that i wish disney explored more.

Fun Fact: The two big songs for this movie were written and performed by John Rzeznik, the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Titan A.E. absolutely needs to be on this list at some point.

Yes, but it was also intentionally sabotaged by Disney They put Silvers being the bad guy in the trailer, when the first half of the movie is meant to keep us guessing They released it right before their home release schedule, back when you had to wait 6-12 months to get it on DVD, Treasure Planet was on the release schedule for less than 5 months, and it was advertised as such They released intentionally put its release between and overlapping both the 2nd Harry potter movie and the 2nd Lord of the Rings movie (Like imagine intentionally making someone's passion project compete against two of the biggest franchises to exist) Meaning that even people who might have liked to watch it, likely watched something else, and due to knowing that it will be on DVD soon, makes it even more likely that those people would just later get it on DVD in a few months Also, January and February are considered dead months for theatres, as most people have spent their savings on gifts, travels, and parties around that time, so less likely to go out for movies Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings are big enough that it would not bother them Yet Disney put this poorly advertised, with spoilers when the few times they did do it, movie, to compete with industry giants They then used the poor sales of tickets as an excuse to gut the 2D Animations department, as 3D Animators were all indie, and did not belong to Unions and Guilds, so they could get away with underpaying and exploiting them for a long time, whereas almost all 2D animators had Unions and Guilds to protect them from exploitation
