I've heard people adoring the manga for years, and I've finally gotten to watching the show, it's a pretty cool adaptation, but there's one important bad change the studio made I know about which is erasing the mention that the Public Safetey job is a union job and has health insurance benefits and paid time off, that's what Denji is happily singing about in the bathtub, and it's something Denji sings about because Japanese national health insurance is a 70-30 split where the government pays 70 percent, so Denji's parents debt is probably from borrowing that 30% from the Yakuza for his mom's heart condition

One thing I missed is when Aki brings up fiends and school to Denji, I completely missed the fact that apparently these threats are real enough to be taught in school. So we are literally learning about the world from Denji's perspective

I love that they straight up just present the similarities in the archetypes from the Naruto & Sasuke dynamic so overtly between Denji & Aki all in this episode. Denji had no friends, isn't book smart, wins by fighting unconventionally, and would straight up make friends with a devil if he could, and literally has one loving inside him that he's friends with that's the source of his power. Aki's whole family was killed by a devil, he's out for revenge, he's more mature and assumes that everyone else lives with a world perspective that's more informed, so Denji catches him super off guard and now they're companion rivals. But with Makima & Power added to that mix — the total dynamic is completely different, because it's like if you took super smart Sakura and impulsive inner thoughts Sakura and made them into two totally different characters. (Watching this after seeing your call-out in Episode 3's ending made this stand out really prominently).

So something that was lost in translation was the whole "hug" thing. The word used in Japanese could be interpreted as either Hug OR Sex depending on context of the word and the way that Denji used it was ambiguous.
