Cultural silencing is very much a thing in North Korea. It does lead to some interesting tactics employed by South Korea, interesting enough. We've once blasted K-pop over the borders on giant loud speakers for nearly a week in response to political hostilities. Since a martial attack would lead to war, use culture as a means to attack. It was Girl's Generation at the peak of the 2nd Gen. You KNOW that shit was catchy and were ear worms for NK troops.

Baron Salt

Alicia. If a red flag took human form your panties would drop in an instant.

There is no war in Ba Sing Se

scatman's world

Alicia please, there IS no war in Ba Sing Se

Chuck Covey

no one else recognized Clancy Brown?

Paul32

Yes more avatar :D Be prepared for the next episode.... no spoilers, but it will be devastating ;D

TrueWarriorJak

10:30 No, you're totally right for saying it Ba sing Se in Avatar is totally directly making parallels to China and Korea's regime, they aren't even being subtle.

Dysike

"How could a member of my own family say something so horrible" is a much funnier line when you bare in mind who else Iroh is related to

Jon C

Nice call on the north korea vibes, can't wait for next episode.

Nate Zabinski

Damn, that crush on Long Feng was short-lived. Totalitarianism is a real turn-off.

Nakama Forever

I remember really enjoying the next set of episodes. Pretty sure the next episode is my favorite in the series. I just know your gonna love it too. Keep an ear out for some of the voices in basing sai. There are a few really famous ones in there 😉

Barnabás Mucsi

The Fire Nation is definiatelly Imperial Japan and the Earth Kingdom, especially Ba Sing Se is obviously China.

Joey Cat

I remember that smile of hers scaring the hell out of me when I first watched this, very creepy. Can't wait for the next episode, it's gonna be a banger!

BamBam

sooo i take it you ve been to north korea then... do you speak korean alicia?

Wubs

UwU: while the next ep isn’t my fav in this I really like it. My favorite is episode 19. Im so hyped for it, you’ll see why❤️

Youmu Senju

Oh, no. People actually "Warned" you that you were going to cry? Jesus. I wish people would rub a couple brain cells together and figure out that hyping up expectations, "hinting", and so on is SPOILING THE REACTOR. I'm sorry you had the series ruined for you by unthinking jerks.

Gucci Pucci

Alicia I love you and your commentary about all things cinematography etc. but i beg of you, don’t talk on subjects that you know nothing about like you’re an authority on them. I’ve got a degree in political science and history, if you want to actually learn about the peoples Republic of Korea then I’d be happy to send some reading recommendations or similar, but otherwise please try not to spread lies about a country you know nothing about beyond what Hollywood and the US state department have taught you. People like and respect your opinion, and will take you at your word, or worse, spread it without verifying your claims. Watching one Vice documentary doesn’t give you the right to slander an entire nation.

HeavenlyNoomba

I love ep 14 Uncle iroh story is soooooooooooooo good

HeavenlyNoomba

By the way this episode is ep 13 the tales of ba sing se is soo good i cried

Verilain

There is no war in Ba Sing Se. Oh man. I can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode. The Tales is a fan favorite for a reason. You never realize how 3 minutes can change your mood.

Aethergoggles

How did I know that just like my wife the red flags attract you like they're peacock feathers XD She always simps for the villains to the point I don't need to guess any more I just wait and see who she finds hot.

Nakama Forever

When I originally watched this show this darker stuff just went straight over my head. All I could focus on was the cool fights. Now that I understand what's going on I do find that all very disturbing. It's crazy they made this on a kids channel
