Alicia is so good with predictions so the loop that robot caused for her is wild.

Here's the worst part. Amber KNEW that Mark was Invincible. KNEW that it was HIM fighting to save her life at the university, RESENTED him for not telling her his secret identity before then, and CHOSE to quietly punish him for it by pretending to think he was a coward who abandoned her. She KNEW he was in the hospital for something more serious than getting hit by a bus, and knew he was likely standing her up because something serious might have been happening, but the entire time showed no genuine concern for his safety at all. The entire time, she only cared about what was going on in her small little world, instead of once considering what must be going on outside her private little bubble. This inner logic for how she responds in several different situation is changed by the fact that she admits to having known for "weeks", making the way she has reacted to mark contrast sharply with the empathy and concern she has been shown to have for literally everyone else. She spends every moment of her life volunteering to help and save others, but disregards that Mark standing her up is because he does the exact same thing, resents him for it, and gaslights him into feeling guilty for it at the university by accusing him of abandoning her when she knew at that point that wasn't the case. Absolutely reprehensible imho. Sorry, it just bothers me. :<

Problem with Amber was that she did not understand how tough being a superhero is. Made her feel like Mark wasn't really trying. Like it was all a game to him. She realizes the next episode.

my problem with amber is her need to be right and her need for self validation, without any thought about how hard others try. she did NOT know mark was invincible, that is her trying to save face, because if she did she wouldve either A) understood or B) left him. but her need to be right makes her try and pass off the idea that he figured it out week ago. at the end of the day, she ha no right to be mad at mark, like at all, she is his Gf of like 6 months, he doesnt owe her the biggest secret of his life. she hasnt given him everything, why should he give her his everything? personally, i got virtue signalling vibes from her early on, but that could just be a personality difference between me and her. but she has no right to try and act like he has done anything wrong beyond maybe leading her on in a relationship he isnt ready to balance....... like all 17 year olds. that being said she is also basically a child so i wouldnt hold it against her eaither, this is all a learning experience and teens are stubborn AF

Am I the only one that Sinclair in this episode looks like the normal St. Charlos from One Piece the world noble?

"I dont know why everyone hates amber" *5 min later* "I get it"

Alright now that the Amber air is cleared. If I may put my two cents in. She is IMO written to be fairly manipulative. It's the subtle kind. Something I've seen IRL and is shown throughout the show if you rewatch it. She isn't an evil person or even wrong when chewing Mark out when putting her reasons forward, but it is all in the name of having power over him emotionally, even worse is it can seem like a subversion of their power dynamic. She isn't able to save the world with superpowers so does a s much within her power to be good and help others. When it comes to Mark she doesn't have physical power over him, but she sure does over his heart. Narcissistic attitude that isn't evil but we all know is not right.

I really enjoy that you see the nuance in Ambers character. She's far from perfect, but I think is wildly realistic while also being an enjoyable presence. Many people will disagree with me but I think she's great.

Just to try and play Devil’s Advocate here, I still get Amber. It’s not even so much about the fact that he had things to protect and wasn’t ready to tell her, that’s not really what’s bugging her; she’s didn’t sign up to date a superhero, she didn’t sign up to deal with all the things that come with that, like the time management or her partner having responsibilities that will always overshadow her, she just wanted to date a guy she liked. Her biggest issue is that he can’t balance both, and they’ve fought about it for like half a year straight at this point. Like how she told him when he missed dinner with her mom, “if you have other responsibilities, that’s fine, I understand, but choose that then, I don’t want this kind of relationship.” I don’t take her “you lied to me” as a “You suck because you didn’t tell me you were invincible”, but rather a “You constantly leave me hanging, and would rather let me think you abandoned us at the college than be straight with me.” This clearly wasn’t gonna work out, and the only reason he said anything was because she was really dumping him this time.

This finale gonna go hard though, I’m excited!

Amber doesn't deserve him.

God, Robot is such an interesting character. He's probably my favourite character in the comic book even when I don't agree with his choices all the time. He's fascinating.

Oh, and now that we can have the Amber conversation, let's talk about that. You now understand why a lot of people don't like Amber. I think it's absolutely reasonable to have issues with the way she acts, I also think it's entirely reasonable to side with her against Mark's behavior. The big, big issue with talking about Amber comes down to the simple fact that Amber was white in the comic book. This makes any discussion about her toxic as fuuuck. You have people with legitimate gripes being accused of racism, you've got actually fucking racists and you got comic purists and comic haters and it's a huge fucking mess. Amber is the most changed character in the show. Almost everyone looks just like they look in the comic book except Amber and Rex who's now a few shades darker brown but otherwise the same. Amber is also different in personality fron the comic book more than anyone else and a lot of the problems people have with her character are the changes from the comic. But then the conversation always slides into race somehow and it becomes really, really uncomfortable. It's sad to me that we can't seem to have a sensible discussion about this character. Oh well, hopefully we get a second season ecentually and maybe Amber can get a second chance. If nothing else I hope for a second season because I quite liked the comic book and the adaption is good so I want to see the whole thing animated.

Can't wait for the finale, its gonna be crazy! Thanks for the upload queen

Just had to say monster girl is 25 n "robot" is 30. So not creepy for them. Just incase some people forgot lol.

I hope your treatment goes well! Also, the thing about Robot is that he didn't to make this weird for everyone. He lied to everyone and went behind their backs to break out some super criminals out of jail and dropped all of this on them out of nowhere. Plus, stealing Rex's DNA was a pretty bad violation of his body autonomy. And it was all unnecessary. Cecil is not opposed to working with criminals that should be jail if he thinks he can get something out of them, and even then there should be other people who have clone tech, maybe ones that aren't as good as the Twins, but in this world of super science there should be other options. He a leader of the top superhero team by the time he decided to do all of this. He had a lot of support and resources he could've used if he had just been honest with everyone. Rex might've been ok with donating his DNA if he asked before hand, and if he hadn't, then it's not like he can't just make a clone off someone else who would be ok with it. If he had been honest with them when he decided to this, they would've helped him and not felt like they had the rug pulled from under their feet. It's pretty good cause it's a very well designed character flaw that ties in with all the other stuff in the show about lying to people you care about and learning to trust others to reach out for help when you need instead of just trying to do everything yourself.

rrrebo

Aaaaand now you understand why people hate Amber.

AlexXis Amadeus

Yeah, honestly, her character was impressive right up until this point. All the classic "woke" red-flags, but she managed to show off that she actually cares about taking care of people and pursuing real social-justice, instead of being a preachy keyboard warrior, by embodying the community she believes in and providing what she can of herself and her gifts for others. A charitable interpretation of that kind of person, but a good character nonetheless. The only real issue here isn't with her as a character, it's specifically how they handled the writing of that break-up. They wanted to have their cake and eat it with the "i'm a boss bitch who can think and deduce for herself" and the whole clueless superhero GF thing. A slight nudge to the dialogue, the motivations, the rationalization and she would be fine. Amazingly adequate character, even beyond any need for it since the purpose of her character would have been served just as easily with anyone else.

macattack

Yeah and monster girl is around the same age. But they are both people who have bodies that don't show age. He probably empathized with her immensely when she was talking about how her body turns young because of the curse that's on her.

danime

The thing is that in the original comics, Amber was a bit of a flat character, basically only existing to give Mark a girlfriend. She had no clue about his secret identity, thinking he was dealing drugs on the side or something, and once Mark told Amber that he was Invincible, she just completely forgave him for everything, instantly. She was unfortunately written as pretty one-dimensional. I love what they changed with her character in the cartoon, right up until this point. Because on the one hand, of course it makes sense that a girl as smart as her would be able to figure out eventually that Mark was a superhero, and of course she's not a doormat that would put up with being treated badly, but on the other hand, they were trying to be too faithful an adaptation and stick to the way the story went in the comics without accounting for how these changes necessitated a more loose adaptation of this storyline. So in their attempt to make Amber a more fleshed-out character, they ended up making her look super manipulative and unfair in her treatment of Mark.

That scene in the bedroom is the worst part of the entire show, by far. I have no idea why anybody thought that writing it this way was a good idea.
