Not gonna lie, Jotaro is my favourite anime JoJo, but I also hated him at first lmaooooo

Kelly Robinson

Fun fact, Araki has said that he created stands because his editor got bored of hamon lol

Jihye Im

Alternative title how all the subtext of jotaro's lines got misinterpreted which messed up the impression of him for the rest of the part lmao 🤣

Olympus Games

For the record, what Jotaro really said was "Shut up, you're annoying, woman" (Kono baba = you old woman / you granny). Still not great but he's on his rebellious age and it's still better than the "bitch" they chose for the official translation.

Charles Porter

I said this already at the end of part 1 but ill say it again lol. At the end of part 1 erina escaped the burning ship in dios coffin, so how is dio in his coffin at the bottom of the ocean?

Rare

Jotaro is definitely a hard ass. He fits that delinquent archetype to the T. I can’t say I hate him though, for reasons the show will get into. I will say though that the transition from hamon to stands was a fantastic choice in hindsight. The creativity alone helped JoJo’s sustain itself for another 6 parts. I couldn’t imagine hamon being able to do that

Barnabás Mucsi

Jotaro is 17, he's in his rebellious stage.

sexy hunk

Part 3 is Araki, the manga author, trying to figure out how to reinvent Jojos. I guess it's so he could branch out to more "bizarre" scenarios. Essentially, he built up a straw house with a strong foundation in Parts 1 and 2, takes the straw house down in Part 3 and then eventually builds up an insane asylum.

Zackerex

This is the part where JoJo really leans into Bizarre 😄

AyatoMisubi

the guy there voices Joseph sadly past away some years ago but this part of jojo really is one of the best my 2nd favorite, excited to see what you think of part 3

Mr. I Like Spam

after seeing people react to jotaro it made me realize that the only way i would hate a character is if they are boring or if they do the most evil shit in the world.

Tobi.SG

Jotaro was just fighting his demons, literally.

Stands aren't actually that powerful, especially compared to Hamon. A stand may be able to fly around and move quickly, but its strength is still limited and its range is also. Plus, a Stand can take damage, which will harm the user, underminding their ranged use by also providing the enemy with a way to damage you as well. Some stands sacrifice some of their versatility to acquire special abilities, like creating heat or magnetism and such, but those simply trade one attribute for another. Their only true advantage is the fact that only stand users can see other stands. Hamon, on the other hand, is very versatile, whilst extending the user's abilities, rather than forcing them to relinquish what they themselves are capable of for the Stand's capabilities to be tested. Hamon can be used for ranged attacks without any risk to the user, can protect the user without the damage to the hamon-infused items causing harm to the user, can be used to heal wounds, manipulate objects indirectly, stun and or incapacitate opponents and, if you don't want anything fancy, can be outright used as powerful blasts of energy. Not to say that the stands aren't fascinating and creative, but they need countless different stands to carry the continuing parts, but only one kind of Hamon for the first two. TL:DR Stands = Pokemon Hamon = Magic

Reiko Lupus

Yeah, Dio's presence here makes Part 1 finale even mroe tragic, since in the end, Dio won.

Kevin

I too dont like Jotaro, and part 3 has cool moments, but overall not my favorite. Mostly because sometime it feels like it drags on...

Nina

Were people really hyping up Jotaro? I'm not surprised you're not into him, he's one of my least favorite Jojo's too. I think you'll like all the future Jojo's more than him. I also agree that this part can drag, it's a lot longer than it needs to be. Don't want o be a downer though, it's still decent.

Hz

best season of jojo

Aethergoggles

Jotaro's voice being familiar is because he's also Erwin from AoT

the_dood_999

alicia i think you know who voices old joseph. a tip he also voices a tekken character

acercando

my favorite jojo is joseph and will always be

JohnKoffey

You will love Jotaro, also his voice actor is Erwin from attack on titan

Alice Faust

We've passed part 2, and thus we've reached the point where there is no majority fandom opinion on almost anything. Be prepared for arguments in the comments, and also for the adventure to get more bizarre.

Soul_XIII

jojo will change okay ??

Kat

Yeah Part 3 and Part 3 Jotaro IMO is the weakest part of the series, but it's very important in setting up for the following seasons.

k.rainesdd

damn lol i always thought part 3 was peak jojo

Pubbles

Every Jojo has different quirks and stuff, but 1 thing ALWAYS remains true no matter what. They love their family. Jotaro is a rude piece of shit, but he deeply cares about his family.

Minseok Kim

jotaro probably has the most character progression of any main jojo. i'm sure that in the 48 episodes you're stuck with him, you can find some redeeming qualities about him

Jargo

Araki has gone over the process of how he wrote this and it's fascinating. Jonathan was supposed to be a do-no-wrong goody goody so that his descendants didn't have to be. No matter how morally grey the JoJo is you can tie them back to Jonathan so you know there HAS to be some good deep down. IMHO the ULTIMATE payoff of this is in Part 7 but we'll have to wait for that to be animated.

Welcome to the era of STANDO POWAH! Part 3 was the first part of Jojo's to make it out of Japan thanks to the 90's ova and Capcom fighting game both based on this part. For a lot of people this part is Jojo's. It's one of the more popular parts in general along with part 5, both of which I like a fair bit less than the others, my favourite being 7. Japanese name order, family name first, Kujo Jotaro, Ku JOJO taro, get it? Jotaro does have a hot voice! It's Daisuke Ono who voices Erwin in AoT! In addition, Joseph is now voiced by Unshou Ishizuka who plays Heihachi Mishima and Mohamed Abdul (name is a reference to Paula Abdul) shares voice actor Kenta Miyake with All Might from Macademia as well as Nosferatu Zodd from the newer Berserk movies! Jotaro is certainly different from Jonathan and Joseph, a lot of people like him, a lot of people don't. For me he's kinda endearingly goofy in how hard he tries to be a badass. It's almost to the point of parody but also earnest enough that I kinda respect it. Supposedly Araki was inspired by Clint Eastwood when writing and drawing Jotaro. Eastwood met with Araki for a special interview for the series' 25th anniversery in 2012 and there's even a picture of Clint doing a Jotaro pose. According to Araki, the concept of the stand was inspired by a light stand that he had over his shoulder when drawing, he imagined some sort of power that would hover over the character's shoulder and that developed into the stands we know and love. Joseph mentions that cutting off breathing weakens the stand and I've heard that's because stands were originally supposed to be an evolved form of hamon but please forget about that because Araki did. And be ready to forget a lot about how stands are supposed to work because a lot of stuff will show up exactly once and never be used again. Finally, the stand naming conventions start with Magician's Red named aftera color and a tarot card, card number 1 of the Major Arcana, the Magician, not the first card though as the Major Arcana starts at 0 with the Fool. The Magician represents new beginnings as card number 1 as well as potential for great things, it tells you that you have all you need to reach your goals inside you.

NateLocke

I mean I like Jotaro, he's not my favorite Jojo but I vibe with him. He's just a moody bancho kid with daddy issues that loves his mom but doesn't know how to express it. Doesn't excuse the name calling but don't worry, he's a good boy, he just needs some humbling.

MatteFlix

I'm not really liking this particular sub, it's translation of some phrases are a little bit bizarre...

Joey Cat

No worries queen, Jotaro takes some getting used too but trust me you'll grow to love him (I hope) XD

Jose Perez

just saying holly is the best joestar in a certain way.

Aspy130

Just in case nobody else brings it up. He was definitely still a bit rude but him calling her a bitch was straight up bad translation

mmg86

Oh, don't worry, Alicia, the switch to Stands doesn't remove any of the strategy from fights. It's the other way around, actually: it enables much more unique and strategic situations than Hamon ever did.

Zandorum

Something alot of people either notice as a plothole or confuse is how Dio was in the coffin when Erina was but it's because of that second compartment under the bedding of the coffin.

Zorndyke

Yeah, Jotaro is going to get a lot of character development. Once he learns how to channel his teenage anger issues more appropriately, i.e. against scumbag villains that deserve it, he gets a LOT more likable. And Stands might seem to be a downgrade now, but trust me, they allow the fights to be even more creative.

GormleyPeach

If part 2 can make everyone root for a nazi then I think yall will come around to jotaro LMAO can't wait for the ride!

Verdigree

Jotaru is very disrespectful, but consider he locked himself away to protect the world, and he must have found out the Stand would stop that bullet by trying the same thing earlier

Zandorum

Stands ended up making the entire fights significantly more strategic, they also made the system able to police itself instead of having the Dragon Ball issue where people get continuously stronger. Oh and Persona and Shaman King were inspired by Jojo.

GildedGrimoire

Tbh this is my least favorite part, parts 2 and 4 being my favorites. However Jotaro grows on you, give him a few more episodes. Knowing his motivation helps some

Kawaii Edgelord

Personally the next part is my favorite part, not this one.

Youmu Senju

I am like 99% lesbian, but the remaining 1% is reserved for Johnathan Joestar. I was so sad we lost him so early. :(

AliceYouWereHere

My favorite Part is a tie between Parts 5 and 6. But I've been anime-only and haven't seen Parts 7 and 8.

Sade .

I personally enjoyed part 3, I don't think any part of JOJO is bad. It's just that some are weaker than others, and that's alright.

Lazy Swordsman

Yeah I have to admit I never liked Jotaro that much - tbh I found him to be a bit of a prat for too long to really like him. He does get better though. I still loved the series though because Joseph is my favourite and I like Dio as a villain. Plus the introduction of the stands. So the series, at least for me, was great even with finding that Jotaro didn't live up to my expectations.

Jargo

Shit! I forgot to make the joke! Ant's pose is a JoJo reference! He's doing Dio's photo pose!
