Hey BTW, new Netflix One Piece Trailer dropped last night as well? I think you'd really enjoy it

H.P Fuckcraft

if it isn't obvious yet how it works in Baroque Works men are numbers (Mr.1, Mr.2, Mr.3 etc) while women are days (Mrs Wendsday, Mrs Monday, Mrs All Sunday etc)

You misunderstood someting about Crocodile's Bounty. It was 80 Million before he became a warlord, after becoming a warlord his bounty was frozen. So any of the power or influence he accumulated since becoming a warlord is not reflected in his bounty. That's why warlord bounties always need to be taken with a grain of salt.

another funfact, you might have noticed by now, but almost every character in one piece has a laughing style unique to them. a couple of those we encountered so far are: Luffy's "Shishishishi", Buggy's "Gyahahaha", Arlong's "Shahahaha" and now Brogy's "Kabababa" and Dorry's "Gyagagaga"

You will understand how the bounties work better while watching the show and having more examples. Just pointing out: does Zoro have a bounty? No. Does that mean he is not a threat? Also no. So that should tell you that bounties are not exactly power levels like, say, Dragon Ball. Think of them more as a "clout indicator" XD.

BTW, this isn't a spoiler, just an interesting thing. Life expectancy in One Piece is about 140+ years, so Giants dont live to be 300, but 400+

Randomocity732

Kurro's, Krieg's, Buggy's and Arlong's bounties were 20,000,000 Berries or below. Those were the highest Bounties in the East Blue, to the point where that Oceans Navy were at times as scared of them as the populace was. Luffy getting 30,000,000 million is highly unprecedented, but it a representation of how dangerous the Navy sees Luffy as. He did something the Navy has been unable to do. The rest of the world are human beings more akin to how Nami and Soupp are right now in terms of physical strength or weaker. Sanji, Zoro and Luffy are extreme cases in a generally realistic world. I use "generally" loosely.

I haven't seen anyone mention this. but the bounty system is more of a power ranking than anything else, from what Oda has said at least.

A bit late to the party but glad you enjoyed these episodes Alicia~ but this next Fun Fact will be a key thing to note!~ Fun Fact of The Post!~: 1.) When a pirate in One Piece Becomes a Warlord their bounty is frozen! Aka they stop receiving them so all we know is that's how much they were wanted before they became licensed by the Marines!

j

During the Mr. 3 introduction panda man can be seen by the pool

Cyrill Attakpah

the bountything was explained to alicia in the stream so everything is good :D

Stop putting real world currency problems to this world. Plus this is early in the series, just enjoy the ride

The world of One Piece is so vast and active that there's always a lot of other things going on that will eventually affect the straw hats and although they're the protags of the story. There is still a lot more worldbuilding to flesh out than just our main characters that will have immense payoffs later

Rat #41

Huge world building episodes pay attention to giant lore.

MaskedRider

A few neat tidbits, One Piece as a series was actually inspired by a cartoon Oda watched as a child called Vicky the Viking, so vikings are actually very inherent to the One Piece concept. Secondly, a fun factoid is Oda is a massive fan of Japanese stage plays. Zoro's combat style is heavily based on the stageplay genre of chanbara, which is stage swordplay, that involves a lot of impact shots rather than full on sword combat, it's why all his major moves show him after the strike is made in a pose, chanbara is also where the strike, sheath then collapse trope originates from.

Coolfun1234e

U probably missed it but crocodiles bounty was frozen when he became a warlord so the 80 mill ur seeing is crocodiles starting bounty like luffy starting bounty

ItsLuBu!!!!

One thing to keep in mind is that bounties don't equate to power levels they do not transfer over like just something to keep in mind.

Martin Mcfly

As a heads up you'll have to skip the next opening until episode 131 once it pops up

I'd say inflation of money from 100 years ago would be worth something different to todays standards in the world. Maybe like 5x more would be generous

Mirza

Something to keep in mind for the Bounties, its not a direct measure of combat strength, a person with a 60 million bounty isnt necessarily going to be twice as strong as someone with a 30 million bounty, its more of a measure of how much money the government is willing to spend to eliminate them, (though strength plays a role), there are other factors that influence the number.

REI

Bounties are based on what the world government is willing to pay for them. It could mean that they are strong, that they know something they shouldn't, or that they are a threat in some other way. It is a decent way to power scale a character, without being stuck on actual physical power (like power levels). Maybe they are very organized, maybe they are a spy, etc. Crocodile the warlord was listed at 80,000,000 before he became a warlord. Your thinking that it's kind of low isn't a bad observation. It just means that Crocodiles becoming a Warlord, and having that bounty can be from different reasons than pure physical strength like Mihawk, the other Warlord we met. Though 80,000,000 is still a lot higher then Luffy/Arlong. The East Blue's bounties were all pretty close together in comparison. As for the giants, they were wanted 100 years ago, but I guess the government might still honor that bounty. What they did, isn't really explored.

Alin Andrei

Oh boy, it's Fem Luffy watching her own show again. Talk about vanity :D

Liesmith

When it comes to the Ogres' bounties, keep in mind that they were each 100 million berries a century ago. Adjusting for inflation, that's over 3 billion in modern-day berries. Source: trust me bro

Seraphem

Just some fun little worldbuilding on the side..... yeah, we'll go with that. :D

Bappo
