It’s hard to say whether an anime can “break the internet”, but if an episode could come close it was this one. Up through episode 7 it was an anime that was liked well enough, but was kind of flying under the radar. That all changed after episode 8, after which it became a serious “anime of the year” contender (and I think actually won some of those awards). Bocchi’s solo and the entirety of the performance of “That Band” completely changed the perspective of the the series and for weeks much of what you saw on YouTube and Twitter had to do with this episode.

Peak fiction achieved.

Okoga

One of my favorite anime episodes of all time.

Jack Frost

Just so you're aware, Kessoku Band released a full album just after the anime finished in Spring. It charted high in Japan, and was pretty well received worldwide.

What a great Episode. It had it all 2 Songs - Stile changes - Lore - And the Title was said. Side Node - I heard the Ending Songs and normal Songs are all done by the VAs. That also not normal :) Ending here is with credits, cause one Arc is over :)

I love Hiroi so damn much. Aside from the alcoholism she is a great friend/mentor for Bocchi. And I just thought about this, Hiroi is the first friend Bocchi made all on her own :D

When this episode first aired, the author of the manga released a “special chapter” that FULLY dives into Nijika’s past. The story of her sister forming her band, what happened to her family dynamic, and why the sister quit. It’s all there made spcifically for fans of anime-onlys and manga-readers alike! You can jump immediately to it and it won’t spoil a single thing because it’s meant to be a proper flashback/context-filled chapter and not part of the main story at all! If you ever wanna read it on your own time, it’s Ch61 of the Bocchi the Rock manga!

God, I love this episode. "That Band" is such a great song too. The lead guitar is super fun to play and the bass line is genuinely one of favourite things to play in drop D. And I felt so proud of Bocchi watching this. Such a good episode.

Easy Mode - A.I

Poor Rlav_The_Second, he was so hype for her reaction and THE BASED MOMENT only for it to be stopped by inspirational speech. (keep doing you queen despite all I say I sit through a lot of it for the insight but a bit of tact between pauses wouldn't hurt)

Machine River

Oh my god that scene at the end with Nijika talking with Bocchi is one of my favorite scenes. Where Bocchi confides in Nijika saying taht she feels she doesn't live up to the guitarhero name and that she feels like she needs to fix herself, and with Nijika reassuring her by saying that Bocchi has always been her hero and to keep being herself, is so FREAKING good.

Siggy

NOT THE ASHITANO JOE POSE! 😭

PearseNation

I’m loving these! If you’re looking for a show after it then I recommend The Owl House!

crazizzle85

It's not outright stated, but it feels like bocchi the rock has a second meaning here ...nijika feels she's the rock holding the band together. And that hits so hard.

Is anyone gonna talk about it the guy in chat just vibin like this 🦟🦗🦟🦗🦟🦗🦟🦗

Jane Doe

I love the bit at around 16:18 where Bocchi is in a very iconic death pose for a show and character I'm not going to spoil in case somebody hasn't seen it. If ya know ya know.
