I was just at middle of the episode on yt, despite the filter I needed to see your reaction hehe, so this is just in time for me.

This one hit me almost as hard as the first episode...

It is bittersweet, but I really do love like, the narrative of, like, Frieren discovering her love for Himmel after the fact. There's a real shining beauty that comes in, like, discovering new depth to old memories that I really like, resonate deeply with over the course of their journey. I think it's beautiful. But this whole story is so I mean what's new lmao Thank you for your continued reactions and hard work ❤️❤️

This show kills me with all the feels. Oh, and great call predicting that flashback.

I think most people prefer the "Aura, kys" episode but this was and still is my favorite episode so far. Himmel's unconditional love towards Frieren is so beautiful and sad. Even with her being as dense as a brick he did his best by her, letting her be herself to the point of parting with her for fifty years, as hard as that must have been on him. I really hope they get to "heaven" with this season because Frieren seeing Himmel again after processing her feelings is going to be so tragically beautiful. Side note but I do wonder how much of Frieren's apathy is like, an elf thing, just how she is, and/or the result of trauma from failing to protect her village way back when.

It is heither who constatly head pats her not himmel.

It was delightful seeing you all "There better be a flashback" and then seeing the animators deliver exactly what you wanted. They don't miss.

There is a quote in the Dungeons and Dragons 5e players handbook. Its from dwarves, but it strikes me as being relevant for Frieren as well. “You take the time to get to know a human, and by then the human’s on her deathbed. If you’re lucky, she’s got kin — a daughter or granddaughter, maybe — who’s got hands and heart as good as hers. That’s when you can make a human friend. My main point with this was that elves dating stages are likely incredibly long, with the getting to know you stage perhaps taking decades. But is suddenly strikes me how fitting this quote is for Frieren, seeing that she has taken in and befriended both of her old comrades apprentices/kids.

Aaaand another video proof of Alicia predicting shows.

This really is a painful episode to watch. We’ve known since ep 1 Himmel’s feelings for Frieren, but not only was it unrequited, but because Frieren didn’t understand humans or their emotions there was never any real hope for his feelings to be returned, and he accepted that, even though he continued to wait for her. Fast forward nearly 100 years later, Himmel having been dead for decades by this point. Frieren has spent more time with humans and learned about their emotions, especially watching Fern’s and Stark’s relationship slowly blossom… and she’s begun to realize what Himmel felt for her AND that she shares the same feelings for him - but now it’s far too late. It makes it even sadder seeing Frieren desperately search for the ring that was lost, as well as the relief she felt as she held it to her heart. And I can tell it’s only going to get sadder as Frieren falls even further in love with a man that has long been dead.

The men thing about birthdays, it's not that they are "too manly for it", but more like "oh yeah, i forgor, it's just another day in another year anyways"

The bittersweet part when Himmel puts the ring on Frieren and the clock tower is in the middle. To me it signifies that the only thing that stands in between them is time.

I know im superlate to the party, but Frieren is supposed to represent part of the spectre of autistic people (all of her 'modern party' is, actually) since we already here meet another elf and now know that is not elves who are like her, its just her (author confirmed) so she represent those people that didnt have that much comprehension of feelings, not of others or from themselves, but once explained, they work hard for those feelings, and is difficult for them to demostrate them. So frieren didnt realized what himmel was meanning with his proposition to her until now, so this anime is basically a: "wait... he was in love with me? Oooohhh... wait, i think i love him too... wait, isnt him dead already?" So combine a millenial elf with an autistic genius, and you got Frieren

Okay, one detail that I didn't quite get until now - Frieren legit fell asleep then woke up in the middle of the night to look for that ring. She is constantly characterized as unable to wake up until the middle of the day, and yet here she is waking up after a few hours because that ring is THAT important to her...

Mmidnight Mistake

Randomly re-watching this and noticed the subtle thing, Himmel gets on one kneel with Frieren and it pants out slowly showing the thing that separates them is the clocktower (time).
