A little thing is everyone else we've seen go into the Gateway had stuff on their door, but Father had nothing. I think it was because he learned nothing or something like that. It had something to do with learning

loftypenalty91

The reason why Father's portal of truth was blank was because despite all the people he killed he never learned anything, but when you look at Edward's portal of truth it changed every time he went to see the truth because he never stopped learning about alchemy and just about life in general.

roc_kerf_ace

First Wrath dies with a peaceful smile on his face, now Greed throws away his ego and sacrifices his entire self for his friends. The irony is off the charts with this one.

Azaxul

The door and truth reflects you and what you bring with you when you cross. Father has nothing, he learned nothing, he takes and becomes nothing. Like Hoen said, he is still the same little Dwarf in the flask.

The show posits the question a lot: What could equal the value of a human soul. In this episode, we're given the answer: Potential. Limitless potential. The power to be anything, from beggar to god. World-changing, life-shaping power. That is what the equal of a single human soul is. It's a beautiful look into the creator's thoughts on humanity.

Dam this one made me sob losing greed in the best way. Also the kidney stone joke makes me cackle

Jared K Gonzalez

it felt good being able to shed some tears at the end seeing Hoenheim pass away happy. Thanks for giving me an excuse to rewatch this series. And for being a cool homie to laugh with and cry with during this series.

Greed+Ling= (Greedling) Better love story than Titanic

Tyler Harding

Best episode imo, so much to love and honestly made Truth low-key one of my favorite characters. They really are just like a mirror to everyone. Mimic them and make them see the mistakes they are making, but not tell them what to do directly. This episode really hammers home Truth isn't cruel, it has specific rules and that's all it is. Truth is such a fascinating character to me for this.

Robert

Okay, because you brought it up, the whole problem with the 'door' in Titanic wasn't room but buoyancy. If Jack got on, then the door would have been partially submerged in the water and both would have frozen to death there. By only being on it partially Jack shifted most of his weight off the door allowing it to stay atop the water so Rose could get dry, which saved her life. Triggered? What triggered? I wasn't triggered at all.

Ed does have some great one liners but also love that ED tribute to Mr Ho

BlastYoBoots

Fun fact: I'm pretty sure this is the case in the English dub too but I'm certain it's true in the Japanese -- Every time in FMA:B that anyone goes through the portal and speaks with Truth, Truth always speaks in a distorted/filtered version of that person's own voice/VA.

The order of death of Humunculus follows the levels of difficulties for humans to overcome them: Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Envy, Wrath, Pride, and lastly Greed.

Easy Mode - A.I

Most miss it which is odd considering how Honest the anime is, but over thinking somehow became common place in a bad way in todays world. Greed and Ling were compatible since the very beginning but only as the show goes on do you really see how alike they are. The final bit with May is satisfying.

Miklar Sihn

The thing is... The Homunculus really didnt grow from the flask. What he was doing when trying to gain "gods" power, was still trying to escape from the flask. He never really left it. He kept on staying cooped up, away from humanity. First by the physical flask, then by the one built by his arrogance and pride. If he had tried to actually live with humanity, he could have grown and actually left the flask. Instead he ended up the sad creature that died at the end. Hohenheim can actually see that and it is part of what allows him to be sad for the Homunculus death, even if it was necessary.

Christopher Lazar

You definitely picked up on the ironic ways the homunculi died. Lust was killed by a man who lusted after women for years. Gluttony was eaten, Sloth died trying his hardest, Envy died acknowledging an enemy, Greed died with everything he wanted, Wrath died a peaceful death and Pride was beat down and forced to surrender and is the only one that got to live. The Lust and Sloth deaths have an extra layer of irony as Lust was consumed by flames (flames often being associated with passion and lustful desire) and Sloth died fighting people who were in incredible physical shape

KaijinGarou

How come I lost lust and greed throughout the course of this series and I'm still a horny greedy bastard?

KaijinGarou

Father crying in his dwarf form almost makes me sad. Then I remember he annihilated a whole country and tried to do it a second time and it goes away.

KaijinGarou

Of course they had to bring Nina back. We're almost in the last episode and they haven't tried to traumatize us with that for quite a while.

KaijinGarou

Ho's death was a good one but it's still frustrating that he dies just when everything was over and he'd been finally accepted back into his family and got the chance to be with them.

Speed1247

Remember Everything Greed wanted Father wanted first, the same with the other sins, Father's personality is so bland because he cut those parts of him away.

Ebofa

I will forever love the fact that the show makes note that Ed have carried what happened to Nina with him all this time. All the way to the finale. "I didn´t know May cared so much about Al" When you finally hang out with that one friend of a friend in your friend group. Because anyone who had spent more than 5 minutes with May would be able to tell him that. But it is actually a pretty interesting way to show just how split up everyone have been for this entire series. And I think it is one of its strengths that the characters still have such strong dynamics despite of it.

KingofKings42

And so the last of the sins meets their ironic end. Lust was killed by a man protecting his love, Gluttony was eaten, Envy died when somebody showed him compassion and saw them as equals, Sloth was killed by the two bodybuilders, wrath died with a smile at the hands of a man who grew past his rage, Pride died after abandoning his honor and beliefs in order to try and survive. and now Greed sacrificed himself for the sake of another and died satisfied. The themes in this show are absolutely top tier and following these threads has been a delight.

MrBogThing

It is so sad when Truth tells the Dwarf you died a bitch and all you had to do to not die a bitch was to take things as they were and figure it out from there, but you stole your strength and you answer from others.
