I dont get your reasoning but go off Ig. It aint about the Straw hats 100% of the time and its indeed the world around them. Just because you dont see them on screen doesnt mean its messing up anything and again…THIS IS SUPER OLD. Yeah it may not seem good at first but thats because this is around where oda was just giving his ideas a go and now animated. I know it wont be perfect but thats what to expect, yes its a good arc and maybe some of the characters may make scenes look better but even as you say this, it wont change anything from whats happening even if we add a straw hat to the scene, just your opinion on it. That isnt the point of this story at all, but i aint here to mess up your reaction of it or sound like someone who doesnt like watching you react because I do. Just wish there was more thought put into your opinion, but thats just MY opinion. You are free to experience this as you wish

The point is that the world moves on even without the Straw Hats. That said, I never thought the Skypeia side characters were terribly interesting compared to the other arcs.

I've considered this the weakest canon arc for a while, but I never put it into words like you did. I think every major arc so far has been about rescuing/recruiting a character we actually care about, usually one of the crew. But this is the first one that doesn't have that. Maybe if we'd spent more time with Conis she could have been the new Vivi, important enough to care about but really only relevant to this one arc. Maybe some of the Straw Hats could've gone with her to make her scenes more interesting to us. IDK. But like, the show's about Luffy saving people. We need to care about the people he's saving for it to be impactful. So they're trying to give us time with those characters to make us care. I get it, but I can also see why it's not working. Maybe that's why this arc almost feels like a filler to me - because the fillers also follow the same formula, but also tend to give us a new filler-exclusive character that we don't really care about to be saved.

People complaining about her rant, chill. She's in the first 200 episodes of the show, she just dont know yet. Up to this point, she's absolutely right about her assessment, but dont worry she wiil get there! I took a super long break in the middle of this arc cuz i felt the same, and now its my favorite anime. Right after this arc i bet we will be getting long binges like we used to. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I get ya. Personally for me, what kills it for me at time just not that there are B-stories, but that everything drags out. Aka. the passing. Like when we see the fight in the jungle between the mob characters, or that the town fleeing; again and again. I get why it is done, but not less annoying.

i think 185 was the best episode in a while- because it had so much Sanji and Usopp! The most entertaining part of the show for me is when we get interactions between the strawhats, and that's been missing for much of this last arc.

Sanji's body being as tough as Luffy's is an interesting choice of words. Hmm.

"Kin" means "golden" and "tama" means "ball", so Luffy calling a golden ball "Kintama" would be fine, if not for a fact, that this word literally means "balls" (male genitalia). That's why little child was like: "Don't use such words!"

Skypia isn't my favorite arc, but these are banger of episodes. Top Usopp comedy.

I did not like skypia that much either i usually skip when rewatching because it is a boring arc not saying if you like it not to watch i just don't care for it much it just drags longer than it needs to sometimes

Honestly I identify with the entire rant--I have tried so many times over the years to watch this series, and the same kinda shit just kills any motivation. These reactions are actually getting me through these early parts, so thanks for that.

while i can understand the frustration of it bouncing between the main cast and admittedly inconsequential characters, that's become one of the biggest aspects of why so many people enjoy OP. that's something Oda has driven home constantly, that there is more to the OP world than just the strawhats.

Honestly i was surprised you weren't more upset about pell (when it was revealed he was alive) it's the one death everyone hates that got cheated after that send off and sort of where the "no one dies in one piece" started. Like a lot of the other's had ok explanation for why they didn't die but pell took a bomb that he was holding directly that was supposedly designed to take out an entire city. and he walked back to his grave a week later.
